'Those' who go out in a blaze of fury

On two occasions I have had bosses who just don't seem to get it.

In many area's they don't 'get it' as they's out of touch, but in this chapter, I'll focus on employee's who quit. Though they didn'tsimply quit, they did go out in a blaze of fury as the title says.

One job, on my first day, the boss got talking about 2 of his employee who had 'left him high and dry' by quitting to work at the same business down the road, that offered less - He seemed perplexed as to why they'd do this.

I understood full well why folk would do this; if I was unhappy I'd accept a bit less elsewhere.

Soon enough, it came to light that I was right.

This boss was a joke!

An uncompassionate, tight, laxy and entitled individual with no interest in listening, very passive aggressive, a gossip and a master complainer - though the place was struggling - though who could help someone who's never wrong; someone who belives their employee's can turn everything around for him with their expert skills and experience dispite being school leavers - youth labour was something he favoured.

He would also instantely make a show of you if ever you made a mistake, or arrived late back from your break; which was a 30 minute lunch during a 8.30 - 6pm shift, which was your only break, in a workplace that was quite isolated; thus it was for the best you stayed in and bough a packed lunch, yet the working environment was depressing - dark, cold, certian employee's and my (computerless) desk facing a wall.

I wasn't there long (many reasons), so I only witnessed one major strom out with a load of screeming from one teen who didn'tdo something he was told to do in time - though really, I doubt he really should have been left to do this in the first place?

Another job had specialised in employing 'people with problems', so I assume the attitude would be 'they shoud be greatful to be here' - this was easily the case - this was the most stressfull working environment I have been in to date.

I could say their was a high turnover of staff, yet that doesn't quite apply; as those who left were rarely replaced.

A hap-hazzard working environments with numberous occassions of screaming, insults and cuss-outs between staff whilst customers were present, yet this didn't matter - you were only out if you quit. Even a day off when vomiting was unnessesary.

After being written off by the doctor as I had become quite ill, I was done...

Yet was still asked to return.
