'i'm dragging you two fools into the afterlife with me.'
✧༺♥༻✧
Lottie's head was spinning, but she was hiding it well. Finding out your best friend was a werewolf was a lot to take in, the whole fangs and dog slobber thing, so not her forte. Standing at her locker she leaned her head against it with a quiet sigh, sucking in a deep breath before turning to spot her two best friends at Scott's locker.
"You apologise to Allison? " She heard Stiles ask as she leaped up onto his back, laughing as he stumbled.
"Yeah." Scott said, dazed.
"So she's giving you a second chance?" Lottie asked over Stiles' shoulder.
"Yeah."
"Then everything's good? " Stiles and Lottie said in unison.
"No."
"No? Why no?"
"Remember the hunters? Her dad is one of them." When Scott had gone running after Allison the other night, he ran into a group of werewolf hunters as well as Derek who had helped him.
"No. Fucking. Way." Lottie mumbled, she couldn't believe their luck.
"Her dad?"
"Is one of the hunters."
"Allison's dad?" Stiles continued to clarify.
"Shot me. With a crossbow. " Scott punctuated, causing Lottie to gasp, she was unaware he'd been shot.
"Allison's-"
"YES. HER FATHER!" Scott almost shouted, before descending into full blown panic mode. "Oh my God, what am I going to do? "
"Take deep breaths first, dog breath." Lottie retorted.
"Did he recognise you? " Stiles asked, dropping Lottie, giving her a glare.
"No, I don't think so-"
"Does she know about him?" Stiles continued to question.
"I-I don't know."
"All right, okay, we'll figure it out. Just-just concentrate on practice. On lacrosse. Scott?" Stiles reassured as Scott grew dazed again.
"Look, snap out of it. We have your back. Now get in your lacrosse gear and kick Greenberg's ass, he keeps staring at me like a cat in heat." Lottie sighed, linking arms with her boys and dropping them at lacrosse practice.
Taking a seat on the bleachers behind Coach Finstock, she let out a chuckle when Coach starting digging into Greenburg.
"Greenberg, that was a pathetic display of amateur ability. Do a lap."
"Nice one, Coach. Do it again." Lottie cheered, laughing as Coach turned to smile at her before focusing his attention back on the training session.
"McCall, my grandmother can move faster than that and she's dead! Can you move faster than the lifeless corpse of my dead grandmother, McCall?"
"Yes Coach!" Scott shouted back.
"Not so nice, Coach." Lottie mumbled, playing with her hair distractedly.
Dazed, Lottie was snapped back to reality when she heard a crack ripple through the field. As she focused her eyes on the crowd she noticed a Jackson and Scott, collapsed in a heap on the floor.
"Scott?" Stiles asked.
"It's happening. I can't control it. It's happening."
"Come on. Before anyone sees. Come, on, come on!" Stiles dragged Scott to the changing rooms as Lottie stuck around to assess the damage.
"Huh, Jackass. Looks like you don't have what it takes to be first line after all." She taunted Jackson, well aware that the boy had been giving her best friend trouble. Smiling sickeningly sweet, she turned and ran off to the locker room, hearing Scott growl at Stiles and a scuffle of feet. Bursting in, she picks up the knocked over fire extinguisher and aims it at Scott, unleashing the CO2 and plumes of white.
"Stiles?" Lottie calls out, noticing him poke his head around the corner of the lockers, his hiding spot.
"What happened?" Scott asked.
"You tried to kill me." Stiles mumbled, the shock wearing off as his hands began to shake in anger, Lottie was quick to beat him to Scott.
"Scott McCall! We don't try to kill our best friends! That's like rule number one!" Lottie stood in front of Stiles with her hands on her hips facing the third member of their trio. She understood he had a lack of control but still, how couldn't he recognise his best friend?
"It's like I told you. It's the anger, your pulse rising. They're all triggers." Stiles fumed quietly.
"But that's lacrosse. It's a pretty violent game if you hadn't noticed." Scott sassed, regretting it as soon as he saw Lottie's expression.
"Drop the tone. We're trying to help."
"A lot more violent if you end up killing someone. You can't play Saturday. You have to get out of the game." Stiles continued.
"But I'm first line." Scott whined.
"Not anymore." Lottie and Stiles said in unison, sighing at their friend, sad for him but more concerned with keeping him safe.
✧༺♥༻✧
Stiles and Lottie were sat in his room, discussing their favourite Star Wars theories. It was one of their favourite past-times despite the fact it always ended in an argument resulting in them buying each other ice-cream to make up for it.
"You just want Jar-Jar Binks to be a Sith Force user. There's no way, he's too clueless." Stiles argued, throwing popcorn at his best friend.
"It makes sense Stiles! He is capable of so many physical feats that are normally popular characteristics of a Jedi, like the flips and jumps and he always survives relatively unscathed. Whose to say he's not got some force within him?" Lottie pointed out, catching the popcorn in her mouth with skill.
"It's just not happening. Now one theory that's for sure true is the theory that Ewoks ate the Stormtroopers. I mean we never see them eat and then once they've defeated the Stormtroopers they are carrying their helmets and no bodies to be found. It makes perfect-" Stiles was cut off by the sound of Scott calling on his laptop. Lottie ran over and sat in the still slashed computer chair as Stiles lumped himself onto her lap, grinning as she groaned.
"Fatty."
"Rude. Should've let me sit first."
"Never. Now answer our friend."
"What'd you find out?" Scott asked the two, used to them always being together if the three of them weren't.
"Hello to you too, Scotty." Lottie greeted, moving to the side so she was more in frame.
"It's bad. Jackson's got a separated shoulder." Stiles explained, causing Scott to moan.
"Because of me?"
"Nope. Because of Greenburg. He took one look at him and decided he'd rather spend his afternoon in the ER." Lottie laughed.
"No. Lottie, quiet." Stiles covered Lotties mouth with his hand. "Because he's a tool. It's not your fault."
"Is he going to play?"
"They don't know yet. But now they're all counting on you for Saturday- Lottie gross. Don't bite me." Stiles complained, pulling his hand away as Lottie whispered into his ear.
"Look behind Scott. Someones there." Standing behind Scott was a talk, dark, ominous looking figure.
Stiles starts to type to Scott.
- it looks like
The internet was messing around so only the first half of the message was sent.
"Looks like what?" Scott asked impatiently
- it looks like someone's behind you.
Scott turned immediately and was thrown against the wall, the laptop falling in the process. The screen returned to the home screen as Stiles and Lottie stared open-mouthed, gaping at what they just witnessed.
"What on Earth?" Lottie mumbled, shoving Stiles lightly so he got off her now numb lap.
"Should we?"
"Maybe?"
"But Star Wars." Stiles pouted.
"If we don't hear from him in an hour we'll check on him." Lottie decided, getting up as Stiles put their film back on.
✧༺♥༻✧
Scott had survived the wrath of Derek Hale once again and was standing by his locker with a cheery Lottie who was rubbing his back soothingly as the stress and sounds of the day were getting to him.
"You know, eventually when you have this all under control - and you will, I promise - this heightened sense and stuff will be pretty cool I'm sure of it." Lottie reassured.
"How can you be so sure? I feel like I'm going crazy."
"Because you're you Scotty. The kindest, sweetest, most caring guy I know. And you have me and Stiles, between us we are like a personified bestiary. We'll help you every step of the way. Always."
"Love you, Lo." Scott mumbled with a smile as he hugged Lottie tightly.
"Hey! I want some loving. 'Scuse me! Coming through." Stiles shouted from the other end of the corridor, pushing past the crowds before tackling his best friends in a group hug. "This is nice. We should do this more. Very bonding. Loving."
"More hugging, less talking." Lottie laughed.
"Okay. Anyway you guys need to follow me. Come here, come here." Stiles pulled away grabbing Scotts arm and linking his pinky with Lottie's. "See if you can hear them." He instructed Scott, pointing to his dad and the principal. "What are they saying?"
"A curfew. Because of the body."
"Shit." Lottie sighed.
"Seriously unbelievable. My Dad's out looking for a rabid animal while the jerkoff who actually killed the girl is just hanging out doing whatever he wants." Stiles fumed as the trio walked through the school towards the exit.
"Are we one hundred percent sure he did it though?" Lottie asked, earning baffled looks from her boys. "Look, I understand he's a creeper and a class A stalker but that doesn't make him a murderer." She held her hands up in surrender.
"You can't exactly tell your Dad the truth about Derek." Scott continued, ignoring Lottie's input.
"I can do something." Stiles argued.
"Which is?
"I can find the other half of the body."
"Brilliant. That's exactly how I envision my afternoons. Wait Scott, which half did you find again?" Lottie again was ignored as the boys walked ahead to their separate classes. "Assholes."
✧༺♥༻✧
Lottie walked into Scott's house a few minutes late, already hearing Stiles excitedly ask Scott a million questions at top speeds.
"What did you find? How did you find it? Where did you find it? And yeah, I've had a lot of Adderall."
"How much Adderall? A whole bottle?" Lottie mused as she walked in a fell onto Scotts bed, making herself at home.
"I found something at Derek Hale's."
"Are you kidding? What?" Stiles asked, sitting up straighter next to Lottie.
"Something's buried there. I smelled blood."
"That's awesome!" Stiles cheered until Lottie gave him a look as if to say 'Really?'. "I mean that's terrible. Whose blood?"
"That's what I need you to help me find out. And when we do, we're going to help your dad nail Derek for the murder. And then you're going to help me figure out how to play lacrosse without changing. Because there's no way I'm not playing that game." Scott explained.
"I'm still not convinced he did it." Lottie added, earning again questionable looks from the boys. "What it's like in the rule book. Don't bury your victims on your property, way too suspicious."
"Sorry murderer extraordinaire, how should it be done?" Stiles asked sarcastically.
"Chop them up and feed them to the pigs. They eat everything. Bones and all." Lottie replied with a devious smirk on her face as the two boys shivered.
"Right, no more Criminal Minds and crime shows for you. You're on time out." Stiles mumbled, grabbing her hand and pulling her up.
"Jesus, Lottie." Scott said, flabbergasted.
"Watch your back boys." Lottie laughed.
✧༺♥༻✧
Spending her time skulking round the hospital was not how Lottie had planned on spending her afternoon yet here she was. Trying to sneak into the morgue. With two boys who didn't understand what the word quiet meant.
"Will you two stop drawing attention to us? You might as well be carrying a sign that reads 'Any chopped up corpses available?' Whilst waving ribbons and shouting down a megaphone." She fumed as the boys continued to talk loudly about their plan, shutting up abruptly at her telling off.
"Now, Stiles, you're keeping watch and Lo, you're coming in with me." Scott explained as they were outside the morgue.
"Why do I have to see the dead body?" Lottie whined.
"Because Stiles will get over-excited and I need to concentrate."
"On what exactly?" She asked as they made their way into the room and Stiles went to the waiting room.
"I don't.. I don't know right now."
"Perfect. "
The two made their way into the room and all Lottie could think about was how poor the security at the hospital was. Two teenagers had just waltzed straight into a morgue. A MORGUE. And no security, no questions, nothing. A nurse even smiled at them.
Slowly they made their way to the giant freezers and scanned the names looking until they came across the name they were looking for 'Jane Doe - partial. Police Evidence Do Not Tamper.' Glancing at each other, Scott took a deep breath and opened it up. Slowly he pulled the sheet back as Lottie immediately turned around and covered her nose and mouth at the smell.
"Scott. Be quick. I'm thirty seconds away from vomiting all over this place."
"I'm done." Scott said as he carefully placed the sheet over the lower half of the body and the two made their way out of the morgue far more stealthily than they had on their way in. Spotting Stiles the two made their way over to him quickly.
"Stiles, I didn't know you got your monthly. Congrats, you're a woman." Lottie cheered as she took the 'You're First Period' pamphlet from his hands and turned it to him.
"Thank you, it's been a hard few months."
"You're telling me." She agreed.
"The scent was the same." Scott interrupted the two.
"You're sure?" Stiles asked following after Scott who nodded. "So he did bury the other half of the body on his property."
"Which means we have proof he killed the girl."
"Do we?" Lottie asked.
"I say we use it." Stiles said, ignoring Lottie.
"How?" Scott asked.
"Tell me something first. Are you doing this because you want to stop Derek? Or because you want to play the game Saturday and he said you couldn't?" Stiles asked.
"There were bite marks on the legs. Bite marks. And if he knows about Allison now.." Scott trailed off, looking at his friends hopelessly.
"Okay. Then we're going to need a shovel." Stiles said.
"Lord give me strength." Lottie mumbled, trailing after her friends, thinking back to her younger self and whether or not befriending them in kindergarten was the best idea in the world.
The trio drove to Stiles house to collect a shovel before making their way over to the Hale residence. The journey was relatively silent aside from going over the plan a few times. Parking amongst the trees, the trio waited until Derek left his house and got into his car, speeding off into the night.
"Something's different."
"Different how?" Stiles asked.
"Yeah, now isn't the time to be switching up the plan, Scotty."
"Let's get this over with." Scott mumbled, shaking his head.
"Yep, you boys get to work." Lottie said, sitting in Stiles Jeep, dangling her legs out the open door. "What? You didn't really expect me to dig up a body did you? Come on now."
"This is taking too long." Scott complained after they'd been digging for half an hour.
"Just keep going." Stiles encouraged.
"What if he comes back?"
"Then we get the hell out of here."
"What if he catches us?"
"I have a plan for that."
"This should be good." Lottie chimed in.
"You run one way. I run the other. Lottie drives away. Whoever he catches first? Too bad."
"I like that plan." Lottie mused.
"I hate that plan." Scott added.
Suddenly the boys hit something hard and stared at each other panicked. Glancing back at Lottie who looked very pale in the moonlight, shrugging in their direction. Stiles clambered down into the hole they'd dug.
"Hurry." Scott insisted as Stiles tried to undo the knot in a black drawstring bag, they had pulled out.
"I'm trying. Did he have to tie the thing in nine hundred knots?"
"Well he is hiding a body?" Lottie added.
"AGH!" The boys hollered and fell back away from the bag, making Lottie jump and squeal loudly too.
"What? What is it?" Lottie asked, peering in their direction.
"It's a wolf." Scott answered.
"I can see that. I thought you said you smelled blood? As in human blood?" Stiles retorted.
"I told you something was different."
Lottie walked over to the two and glanced sadly down at the wolf as Scott unveiled it in its entirety.
"Oh you poor baby." She whispered sadly, clutching a hand to her chest.
"This doesn't make sense." Stiles admits frazzled.
"We gotta' get out of here."
"Help me cover this up."
"Wait, what's this?" Stiles tugged a purple flower out of the ground, it looked like it had recently been planted there.
"Stiles leave it, it's clearly meant as a memento for the wolf."
"I think it's Wolfsbane." Stiles explained.
"Graverobber." Lottie mumbled under her breath as Stiles explained to Scott what Wolfsbane was. "Scott, you are the most clueless werewolf I have ever met."
"I have this feeling it's not going to be a good idea." Scott said to Stiles as he began to tug on the flower that was attached to some twine wrapped around the wolf.
"Me too." Stiles agreed, however that didn't stop him and he continued to tug on the twine, despite Scott and Lottie's protests.
"Stiles..." Scott whispered. Stiles turned back from his place as the twine had taken him about ten feet away.
The wolf was no longer a wolf. It was now the torso of a dead woman's body. Lottie promptly turned away from the sight and threw up, straight into the hollow grave of Jane Doe.
✧༺♥༻✧
Lottie yawned tiredly as she stood with Scott at the Hale property watching Derek get arrested. She couldn't help but feel like something was off about this situation. Something in her bones told her that he didn't do it. Unfortunately the evidence against him was pretty damning. Seeing Stiles sneak into the police car holding Derek, she made her way over and snuck into the passenger seat.
"Just so you know, I'm not afraid of you." Stiles explained. Lottie swore she could've seen Derek's mouth twitch, as if hiding a smile. "Okay, maybe I am. Doesn't matter."
"I, however, am not afraid of you. Hello again, Shitzu ." Lottie smirked. Derek focused on her heartbeat and noticed she was telling the truth. She wasn't afraid of him.
"I just want to know something. The girl you killed, she was a werewolf. But she was a different kind, wasn't she?" When he was ignored he continued. "She could turn herself into an actual wolf. I know Scott can't do that. And I think you can't either. Is that why you killed her?"
"Why are you so worried about me when it's your friend who's the problem?" Derek fumed, leaning closer to the cage divider in the car, making Stiles lean back and Lottie roll her eyes."When he shifts on the field, what do you think they're going to do? Just keep cheering him on? I can't stop him from playing. But you can. And trust me. You want to."
Stiles went to reply when both the driver's door and the passenger door were opened as he and Lottie were grabbed by their elbows.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Sheriff Stilinski asked the two of them as his deputy handed Lottie over.
"Just trying to help." Stiles mumbled bashfully.
"How about you help me understand exactly how you came across this?"
"We were looking for Scott's inhaler." Stiles explained, Lottie and Scott shared a look knowing that Stiles was about to drop them all in it but both too tired to try and stop him.
"Which he dropped when?" Stilinski asked.
"The other night."
"The other night when you came out to look for the first half of the body?"
"Yes."
"The night when you told me you were out with Lottie and Scott was home?"
"Yes. No. No, crap." Stiles finally caught up and turned to his friends apologetically.
"So you lied to me."
"That depends on how you define lying."
"I define it as not telling the truth. How do you define it?" Stilinski was growing tired of the conversation by the second and was going to be up to his eyeballs in paperwork for the next twenty years, his son lying wasn't helping.
"Reclining your body in a horizontal position?" Lottie snickered quietly, stopping herself when Stilinski placed his fatherly glare on her.
"Get the hell out of here."
"Absolutely." The trio chimed at the same time, sprinting to the Jeep.
"I can't find anything about Wolfsbane being used for burial." The three of them were driving back through Beacon Hills as Scott researched Wolfsbane and Symbolic burials.
"Keep looking. Maybe it's like a ritual. Like they bury you as a wolf. Or maybe it's like a special skill. Like something you have to learn."
"I'll put it on my to-do list. Right underneath: Figure out how the hell I'm playing the game tonight."
"Scott, I'm not so sure playing is the best idea you know." Lottie said softly, turning to look at him from the front seat.
"Maybe it's different for girl werewolves-' Stiles started.
"Stop." Scott started.
"Stop what?" Stiled asked, confused.
"Stop saying werewolves. Stop enjoying this so much." Scott fumed.
The two started arguing about Scott having to accept that this was his life now and Lottie sat and watched, knowing it was better to resolve the situation once they'd both expressed their feelings. That was until Scott started panting like he couldn't breathe.
"Scott, are you okay?"
"No, I can't--I can't breathe." He stuttered. "Pull over!" He shouted at Stiles.
"What's happening?" Stiles asked as Scott reached down to his feet for Stiles' bag and pulled out the wolfsbane twine.
"You brought it with you? Stiles, you're such a dumbass." Lottie practically shouted, taking it out of Scotts hands and getting out of the car.
"What was I supposed to do with it?" Stiles asked as Scott's eyes turned bright amber.
"This." Lottie threw the bag into the woods, getting some real distance between them and the wolfsbane. "Honestly, you know the effect it has on wolves, why would it be any different for Scott?"
Whilst the two were arguing they hadn't noticed Scott had fully transformed and was looking for a fight. He growled lowly, making the two of them turn in his direction.
"Scott?" Lotie called out.
"Scott, don't do this." Stiles said he spotted his golden eyes.
Scott started to hit the Jeep making it shake from left to right, until he hit it so hard it almost toppled over and crushed Lottie and Stiles who held onto each other tightly. Scott launches himself onto the roof of the Jeep as Stiles grabs Lottie's hand, them both staring in fear and awe of their best friend who they are seeing in his werewolf form for the first time. When Scott crouches down Stiles tugs Lottie's hand and makes a run for the drivers side of the car, shoving Lottie in and clamouring in after her, slamming the door shut.
Bracing himself, Stiles floored it and sped off straight ahead, looking in his rearview to see that Scott had flown off the roof. Hitting the brakes, Lottie and Stiles turned back in their seats to see Scott running off into the woods before turning back to each other panting.
"Well, fuck me." Lottie mumbled, reaching over and hugging her best friend.
"Much obliged." Stiles joked back as she shoved him lightly. The two looked at each for a moment before they both broke out into shocked hysterics, laughing their way back to Lottie's house.
✧༺♥༻✧
"What'd they do Jackass? Fill you with roids?" Lottie asked Jackson as she sat on the bleachers behind the benchwarmer players.
"Ha-ha." Jackson said sarcastically. "Lottie you can admit you have a crush on me it's okay, everyone here does?"
"Everyone does, do they? Even Coach? Hey Coach!" Lottie called out, grabbing his attention whilst Jackson grabbed her arm. "Jackson said you have a crush on him. How crazy!"
"Whittmore! A word you little cretin." Coach Finstock shouted him over.
"Bye, lover boy." Lottie blew a kiss in Jacksons direction as she sat next to Stiles.
"Hey kiddo. Any chance you'll be seeing some action tonight?" Stilinski had tapped his son on the shoulder, ever hopeful that he'd play the sport one day.
"Action? Definite possibility." Stiles retorted as the game started.
The game progresses quite quickly with Jackson eventually scoring a goal, causing Lydia and Allison to hold up signs for him and cheering his name.
"That has got to sting." Lottie mumbled to her best friend.
"This is not going to be good." Stiles replied.
Scott eventually gets the ball and Stiles follows the edge of the field with Coach biting on the finger of his glove whilst Lottie cheers, joined by Melissa McCall and Allison also cheering for the boy as he launches the ball into the net.
"To McCall! Pass to McCall!" Coach shouted as the opposing team voluntarily handed the ball to Scott. "Did the opposing team just deliberately pass the ball to us?"
"Looks like it, Coach." Lottie answered.
"He's losing it." Stiles muttered to Lottie who had noticed the longer the game went on the more Scott's eyes glowed.
"He's okay, he's okay." Lottie reassured as Scott made one more attempt at the goal and scored. The field flooded and erupted into cheers as Scott had led them to victory. Stiles and Lottie were about to run at their friend when they noticed the look on Stilinski's face.
"Dad? What's wrong?"
✧༺♥༻✧
Stiles and Lottie made their way to the locker rooms screeching to a halt when they walked in on Scott and Allison kissing. The two hid behind a locker to give them privacy.
"You owe me twenty bucks." Lottie smirked.
"I know." Stiles groaned as Allison made her way past.
"Hi Stiles, Lottie." The two waved back in response, walking over to their friend.
"I kissed her."
"We know." Lottie and Stiles said in sync, smirking.
"She kissed me."
"We know that too."
"It's pretty good, huh?" Stiles teased.
"I don't know how but I controlled it. I pulled it back. Maybe I can do this. Maybe it's not that bad."
"Yeah. We should talk later then." Stiles said, grabbing Lottie's pinky with his own and turning away, until Scott grabbed their shoulders and stopped them.
"What?"
"The medical examiner looked at the other half of the body we found."
"And?"
"I'll keep it simple. Medical Examiner determines killer of girl to be animal not human. Derek is human not animal. Derek not killer. Derek let out of jail."
"Are you kidding me?"
"Would now be a bad time to say I told you so?" Lottie added unhelpfully.
"No, and here's the bigger kick in the ass. My Dad ID'd the dead girl. Both halves. Her name was Laura Hale."
"Don't remind me. I feel worse than I already did." Lottie groaned.
"Hale?" Scott asked.
"Derek's sister."
""Yep. If we thought he was angry before, imagine his rage now. We got him arrested on suspicion of murder... murdering his sister! He's gonna murder us. Do you think we can all be buried next to each other?" Lottie asked the unamused boys who were looking at each other with panic in their eyes. "What I wanna be with my boys forever. None of this till death do us part. I'm dragging you two fools into the afterlife with me."
