'come on, batman, let's go save our friend from public humiliation and a side of potential homicide'

✧༺♥༻✧

Charlotte 'Lottie' Bailey danced around her bedroom late one evening, singing her heart out to Taylor Swift, using her hairbrush as a microphone. She'd been at it ever since she got out of the shower an hour ago and was having too much fun to stop, noting the constant twirling had dried her hair.

"Say you'll remember me! Standing in a nice dress! Staring at the sunset babe!" She sang, unaware of the creaking floorboards a few feet away. "No one has to know what we do, his hands are in my- AHHHHH!" Lottie shouted as she threw her hairbrush at the unexpected intruder who just burst through her bedroom door.

"Ow. Lotts what the-?" The boy complained as he stood to full height, rubbing the side of his head where her brush had hit him.

"Stiles?! I'm gonna kill you." She threatened, looking for more weapons, settling for her copy of 'Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith' and launching it at him.

"No. Not Star Wars. Anything but Star Wars." Stiles said, catching the DVD expertly.

"If only you had reflexes like that when you play lacrosse." Lottie sassed as she sat on her bed with her arms crossed as his jaw dropped.

"Now that was uncalled for."

"No. What's uncalled for is you breaking and entering! You best have a good reason. What if I was naked?"

"Uh- well I- you-"

"Stop thinking about me naked Stiles." Lottie sighed, laughing quietly.

"You gave me a key! It's all your fault really." He tried, until he saw the unimpressed look on her face and backtracked. "I suppose I could've texted you beforehand, not that you'd have heard it, Little Miss Rockstar." Stiles smiled.

"Text me next time. Now what's so important you took ten years off my life?"

"Two joggers found a dead body in the woods. Dad left like twenty minutes ago. Come on, we've got to get Scott." Stiles explained quickly, grabbing Lottie's hand and dragging her out as she picked up her trainers on the way out.

"Dead body? Why on earth are we following? What if the guy or girl is still out there?" Lottie asked, putting on her shoes regardless, knowing she'd be following, just to keep the boys out of trouble more than anything.

"I didn't think about that to be honest. Now come on!"

The two got in the car making the short drive to the other third of their trio. Stiles played Taylor Swift in the car and sang it loudly to Lottie to make up for the scare he gave her, knowing he was forgiven when she laughed and sang it back to him.

"Now I hope you're planning on scaring Scott just as much as you scared me." Lottie plotted, smiling when she saw Stiles smirk in her direction as they parked outside their friends house.

"Oh don't you worry. I've got it all planned." She watched him climb onto Scotts porch and wait until Scott came outside, clutching a bat, having heard a creak from outside. It was going so well, until Stiles, got caught in the trellis and hung upside down in front of Scott, looking something like a pinata as Scott almost swung at him.

"Stiles? What the hell are you doing?" Scott complained.

"You weren't answering your phone." Stiles replied as if that justified him hanging from Scotts roof, which he still was. "I know it's late, but you have to hear this. I saw my dad leave like thirty minutes ago. Dispatch called. They're bringing in every officer from the Beacon department and even State Police."

"For what?"

"Two joggers found a body in the woods." Stiles said, smiling.

"A dead body?" Scott asked dumbly, as Lottie got out of the car.

"No, a body of water. Yes, dumbass, a dead body." Stiles sassed as he pulled himself up to untangle his legs from the trellis, landing with a thud on his feet.

"You mean like murdered?"

"Nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her twenties."

"Wait. Hold on. If they found a body, what are they looking for now?" Lottie asked as she made her way to the boys, hugging Scott briefly, looking at Stiles in curiosity.

"That's the best part." Stiles exclaimed, clearly excited. "They only found half."

"Nope. I'm out." Lottie said bluntly, not getting far as she made to walk away as Stiles, wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Scott grab her legs. Quick." Stiles lifted her off the ground easily as Scott did as he was told and grabbed her legs.

"This is kidnapping. I don't want to see half a dead body. Scratch that. I don't want to see a dead body period." Lottie complained as she was shoved into the passenger seat.

"Lotts. Just think of it as a 'Musketeer Mission' okay?" Stiles said as he started up his Jeep.

"Yeah we loved those." Scott chimed in.

"Yeah, when the mission was stealing Mrs Mkandy's sweet stash from her bottom drawer in English. When we were six." Lottie sighed, rolling her eyes, knowing she'd lost the battle.

✧༺♥༻✧

Pulling up to the Beacon Hills Preserve, Stiles reached back to the backseat and grabbed his backpack, grabbing three torches and handing two to his friends. Rushing out the car, he starts making his way through the preserve making Scott and Lottie jog a little to keep up.

"Are we seriously doing this?" Scott asked, now not so sure about the idea.

"You're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town. Besides, it's our last night of summer freedom."

"To be fair, you do complain an awful lot about how boring it is around here." Lottie agreed, tripping over a branch, scowling when the two boys chuckled at her.

"I was trying to get a good night's sleep for practice tomorrow." Scott explained. Lottie smiled faintly. Her boys had been benchwarmers for their lacrosse team for as long as they've been on the team.

"Right, because sitting on the bench is such a gruelling effort." Stiles scoffed.

"No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm going to make the starting lineup." Scott said, puffing his chest, looking determined.

"And how are you gonna do that? What's changed over summer Scotty?" Lottie asked.

"Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?" Changing the subject, Scott looked over at Stiles, who gulped looking at the sudden expression on Lottie's face.

"I didn't even think about that."

"And what if whoever killed the girl is still out here?" Scott asked.

"That has been brought to my attention and I also don't have an answer for that either." Stiles explained.

"Stiles. You best be grateful your dad is the sheriff or he'd be looking for two dead bodies tonight." Lottie said through gritted teeth.

"Lottie, Musketeer Mission, remember. Okay. You love us. Deep breaths." Stiles tried to calm her, but noting her unimpressed look he decided to just grab her hand and force her to tag along.

"Comforting to know you've planned this out with your usual attention to detail Stiles." Scott said, panting as they continue to race through the preserve.

Stiles stopped abruptly, causing a domino effect as Lottie crashed into his back and Scott crashed into hers. A perimeter of yellow crime tape was set up as flood lights illuminate the scene in front of them. Grinning, Stiles, turned to his friends, who can't help but smile back at the boy, ecstatic that they'd found the crime scene. They started to circle the scene until they hear the sound of a zipper fill the air. They all glanced at each other before their eyes all simultaneously find two bare feet being zipped into a body bag.

"Is that the second half of the body?" Scott whispered. Lottie shrugged, feeling a little queasy.

"No, they would have called off the search. Come on." Stiles grabs Lottie's hand before taking off.

"Stiles! We need to wait for Scott." Lottie whispered.

"He'll catch up."

The two continued on their way until a bright light blinded them.

"Stay right there!"

"Fuck." Lottie mumbled as Stiles guided her to stand behind him.

"Hold on, hold on, this little delinquent belongs to me. And the one he's hiding might as well be mine too." Sheriff Stilinski explained, causing the state trooper to stand down.

"Good evening Mr Stilinski." Lottie greeted with a smile and a wave. Stilinski smiled tightly back before grilling his son.

"Do you listen in on all of my phone calls?"

"No... Not the boring ones anyway." Stiles mumbled.

"Wait. There's only two of you. Where's the third member of your little group?"

"Who? Scott? Scott's home. Said he wanted to get a good night's sleep for the first day back at school." Stiles rambled, causing the Sheriff to look at Lottie with a questioning look.

"He said he wanted to make the first line." She shrugged. "Apparently sleep is gonna help him. I think it's a tad delusional but hey, whatever makes him happy right?" Lottie also rambled, determined to distract the Sheriff.

"You two..." He muttered before sighing and shouting, "Scott? You out there?"

"Dad, he's not here." Stiles sighed.

"All right, young man and young lady. I'm taking you back to your car and we're going to discuss a little something called Invasion of Privacy. Then you're going to drop Lottie home okay?"

Walking back to Stiles' car, Lottie sent a quick text message to Scott, ignoring her friend's fathers lecture.

- stay safe, text or call me if you need me and i'll be right there, love you scotty x

"Okay? Now I expect the two of you to be on your best behaviour from here on out. Especially tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?" Lottie asked, climbing into Stiles' Jeep.

"First day back at school. God you two will put me in an early grave."

"We'll pick a nice casket, don't you worry Mr Stilinski." Lottie winked as Stiles burst out laughing.

"Goodnight, little one, Goodnight Stiles." The Sheriff said with a fond smile as the two drove off.

"Lottie." Stiles said as he pulled up to her house.

"What now Stiles?"

"Best. Musketeer. Mission. Ever."

"Stiles. We got caught, abandoned Scott and didn't find the other half of the body. Nothing about this was a success." Lottie laughed as his face fell.

"Still, it was one hell of an adventure though, right?"

"Sure thing, hey, do you wanna stay over? Dad's working a night shift and I can't lie, I'm a bit spooked." Lottie asked as she got out of the car.

"Of course. Can we watch-"

"Star Wars? Of course!" Lottie replied, laughing as they made their way into her house.

✧༺♥༻✧

Lottie was standing at her locker, putting her bags away when Scott and Stiles made their way over to her.

"TweedleDum and TweedleDee."

"Which one of us is which?" Scott asked, curiously.

"Stiles is TweedleDum, obviously." Lottie answered, laughing at his offended face. "So what's this about a bite?" Lottie asked, Stiles had sent her an array of text messages about Scott being bitten the night before.

"It was too dark to see much but I'm pretty sure it was a wolf." Scott explained as he pulled up his shirt to take off the bandage and show his friends the still bleeding wound.

"Gross." Lottie mumbled.

"A wolf bit you? No, not a chance." Stiles said, standing back up.

"I heard a wolf howling."

"No, you didn't." Stiles persisted.

"What do you mean "No, I didn't?" How do you know what I heard?" Scott argued.

"Scotty, California doesn't have wolves. It hasn't for the last sixty years." Lottie explained.

"Really?"

"Yes. Really. There are no wolves in California." Stiles rolled his eyes.

"Well, if you don't believe me about the wolf, then you're definitely not going to believe me when I tell you I saw the body." Scott smirked.

"You what? Are you kidding me?" Stiles almost shouted, jumping in the air and slapping Scott on the shoulders. "Lottie did you hear that?" Stiles asked, grabbing the girl's shoulders.

"Unfortunately."

"I'm going to have nightmares about it for a month." Scott sighed.

"Only a month?" Lottie sassed.

"That's freaking awesome. This is seriously the best thing that's happened to this town since," Stiles paused, looking at Lydia Martin who just so happened to walk past, "since the birth of Lydia Martin who's walking toward us right now."

Lydia continued to walk towards them.

"Hey Lydia, how are you? You look-" She walked straight past them, ignoring all three of them. "like you're going to ignore me." Scott and Lottie snicker at the boy's expense. "You're the cause of this, you know. Dragging me down to your nerd depths. I'm a nerd by association. I've been Scarlet-nerded by you."

"Speak for yourself. I'm not a part of that category." Lottie said.

"No, you're my only saving grace from this pit of uncoolness. It's because you're hot. And funny too, of course and kind-" Stiles started to ramble.

"I get it Stiles, I'm an angel. Now come on, my little nerdlings. Let's get our ass to class." She interrupted, linking arms with her best friends, causing them to smile as they headed to their class.

✧༺♥༻✧

Their morning classes had been quick, the only notable difference to their usual routine was the arrival of Allison Argent. She joined them during their English class and Lottie could see that Scott was halfway down the aisle as soon as he set eyes on her. She couldn't wait to tease him.

"So Scotty, are you in love?" Lottie teased as they stood by their lockers.

"Wha- what?" Scott asked, tearing his eyes off Allison briefly.

"The newbie. You're looking at her like she's water and you've been in a twenty year drought." Lottie laughed as Stiles clicked. A girl named Harley, came up to them interrupting Lottie's teasing.

"Can somebody tell me how New Girl is here all of five minutes and she's already bestie's with Lydia Martin?' She asked as Lottie turned to see Allison stood with Lydia and her boyfriend Jackson Whittmore.

"Because she's hot. Beautiful people herd together." Stiles explained.

"Is that why Lydia isn't herding with you? Why does Lottie hang out with you if that's how it is?" Harley asked.

"First of all, thank you. Second of all, ignore him, teenage boys are something out of this world I swear." Lottie mused.

"Lydia's a long term project, okay? And trust me, I've got all the patience in the world for a high yield investment like her." Stiles rambled as Lottie rolled her eyes with a smile.

"Well, I don't think New Girl's that pretty. Scott, you think she's pretty? Scott?" Harley asked, repeating his name as he continued to stare at Allison, completely consumed by her.

"I'd take that as a yes." Lottie and Stiles said in sync as Harley sighed and walked off, causing the two to look at each other and chuckle.

✧༺♥༻✧

"I can't believe you missed it! It was like something out of a movie! Seriously, Scott was unstoppable!" Stiles was explaining to Lottie what had happened in the lacrosse try-outs, normally she'd watch but she had try-outs of her own for the school's gymnastics team. They were talking a stroll through the preserve again, this time to find Scott's inhaler.

"Now how did you manage that then, my little Scotty?" Lottie asked as she jumped on said boys back without notice, him catching her expertly.

"I don't know what it was. I mean I felt like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball. And that's not the only weird thing. I mean I can hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. And I can smell things." Scott explained, looking down as he held onto Lottie.

"Smell things? Like what?" Stiles asked, curiously.

"Like the mint mojito gum in your pocket. And Lottie's watermelon lip gloss."

"Well, Lottie's mouth is pretty close to your nose and I don't have any-" Stiles excused until he pulled out an old piece of gum from his pocket. "All this started with the bite?"

"What if it's an infection? What if my body is flooding with adrenaline before I fall into shock? I knew I should have gone to the ER." Scott started to panic.

"I've actually heard of this. It's a specific kind of infection." Stiles said with a smirk in Lottie's direction, causing her to raise an eyebrow.

"Are you serious?"

"All the symptoms add up. I think it's called Lycanthropy." Lottie started to smirk, tucking her face into Scott's neck.

"What's that? Is it bad? It sounds bad." Scott continued to panic, unaware that his two best friends were silently laughing at him.

"It is. But only once a month." Lottie added, going along with the joke.

"Once a month?"

"On the night of the full moon." Stiles concluded as the penny dropped and Scott understood what his two friends were going on about.

"You're a pair of assholes. You know that?" Scott mumbled, pretending to drop Lottie as she squealed.

"Hey, you're the one who heard a wolf howling." Stiles laughed.

"There could be something seriously wrong with me." Scott quietly fumed.

"I know! You're a werewolf!"

"Ow, Ow, Owooooo!" Lottie howled, mockingly, very loudly in the quiet woods, causing the boys to stare at her before Stiles burst into hysterics, only calming himself when he realised Scott wasn't laughing.

"Okay, obviously, I'm kidding. But if you see me in shop class melting down all the silver I can find it's because Friday's a full moon." Stiles sympathised, slightly as Lottie climbed off Scott's back.

The trio continued on their walk, having no luck finding Scotts inhaler at all.

"You know, if I'd known we were going to be out here for this long, I'd have brought a snack or something." Lottie grumbled.

"I swear this was it. The body was here. The deer came running, I dropped my inhaler." Scott explained.

"Maybe the killer moved the body." Stiles added his input as Lottie crouched down and began moving the leaves around, trying to see if the inhaler had gone under.

"If he did, I hope he left my inhaler. Those things are like eighty bucks." Scott sighed, before silencing as Stiles patted him on the shoulder, pointing at the figure in the distance.

"Don't worry Scotty, worst comes to worst, I'll buy you a new one." Lottie said, oblivious to the figure and the look of nervousness on the boy's faces as she continued to rummage for the inhaler.

"Lottie, quietly and casually, stand up and walk behind me." Stiles whispered. Lottie looked up and did as he said, curious as to why but not hearing his usual humorous tone. She slowly made her way behind him and that's when she noticed the figure.

"What are you doing here? This is private property." The man asked.

"Sorry, we didn't know." Stiles explained, protectively putting his arm back to shield Lottie from the man's gaze.

"We were just looking for something. Forget it. Sorry to bother you." Scott answered, turning to walk away when the man threw something at them. Scott quickly turned and caught it. Looking down he saw his inhaler. The man had already started walking away when Scott looked back up at him.

"Dude, that was Derek Hale. You remember, right? He's only a few years older than us." Stiles went off on a ramble as they began walking back to 'Roscoe' his Jeep.

"Remember what?"

"His family. They all burned to death in a fire like ten years ago. Was awful."

"It was more like six years ago. But yes it was tragic. I can't imagine how devastated he was. I feel for him." Lottie sympathised.

"I wonder what he's doing back." Scott wondered out loud as the trio climbed in the car.

✧༺♥༻✧

"Lottie! Over here!" Stiles shouted, waving his arms above his head manically.

"Hello Stiles, what sort of interpretive dance was that?" Lottie mused, sitting next to the boy.

"Panic. Look Scott won't listen to me, so you have to. I overheard my Dad on the phone. The fiber analysis report came back from LA and they found animal hairs on the body from the woods."

"Let me guess? It was a wolf?" Lottie asked.

"Ye- how did you know?"

"Intuition. Plus it's just our luck."

The two watched Scott absolutely smash his trials and as he flips and jumps and sprints around the field.

"Stiles, you don't think?" Lottie asked, looking at Stiles who was turning his head to face her nodding slowly.

"I think it's time you and I research werewolves, don't you Lotts?"

✧༺♥༻✧

Lottie and Stiles had been researching for hours and had only stopped for a break when Stiles received a knock on his door.

"Get in. You have to see this. I've- we've been reading. Websites, books, all this information." Stiles shoved Scott into his computer chair, pointing at the screen as Lottie continued to look at her laptop.

"How much Adderall has he had today?" Scott asked Lottie as Stiles began thrusting print outs into his face.

"You don't wanna know, trust me."

"Is this about the body? Did they find who did it?" Scott asked.

"No, they're still questioning people. Even Derek Hale-"

"The guy from the woods-"

"That's the one-"

"That's not it."

"What then?" Scott sighed exasperated.

"Remember the joke the other day? Not a joke anymore." Stiles started. "The wolf. The bite in the woods. I started doing all this reading and- Do you even know why a wolf howls?"

"Should I?"

"It's a signal. When a wolf is alone it howls to signal its location to the rest of the pack. So if you heard it howling that means there's others. Maybe a whole pack of them." Lottie explained.

"A pack of wolves?" Scott asked sceptically.

"No. Werewolves."

"You're seriously wasting my time with this? You know, I'm picking Allison up in an hour."

"Wait Allison? No way since when?" Lottie asked, having not been clued in on this development.

"I saw you on the field, Scott. What you did wasn't just amazing. It was impossible." Stiles continued.

"So I made a good shot."

"It was more than a good shot Scotty. You know that something has changed."

"No, you made an incredible shot. The way you move- the speed, your reflexes- people can't suddenly do that overnight. And then there's the hearing, the senses, and don't think I haven't noticed you don't need your inhaler anymore. You haven't used it since that night." Stiles added.

"I can't think about this now. We'll talk tomorrow, okay?" Scott sighed, standing up.

"Tomorrow? Don't you get it? Tonight is the full moon!" Stiles argued. Lottie could see Scott start to get annoyed and tried to control the situation.

"Look guys-"

"What are you trying to do? I just made starting lineup. I have a date with a girl I can't believe actually wants to go out with me. Everything in my life is somehow perfect. Why are you trying to ruin it?"

"Scott, don't be mean. Stiles is trying to help. Look I know it sounds far-fetched, but so was the idea of you making that starting lineup. Yet it's happened, just at least read what we've researched." Lottie defended. She knew it was crazy but he was their best friend, he could at least hear them out. And the idea of Scott being on the starting lineup was crazy, before that night he was almost as bad as Stiles, no amount of summer training would fix that mess.

"I'm trying to help. With the full moon it's going to be too hard to resist and there's no going back. You're cursed, Scott. And it's not only that the moon causes you to change, it's also when your bloodlust will be at its peak." Stiles added softly, sending a grateful look to Lottie.

"Bloodlust?" Scott asked.

"The urge to kill." Stiles explained.

"I'm already starting to have an urge to kill, Stiles."

"You need to hear this. The change can be caused by anger or anything that raises your pulse. And I've never seen anyone raise your pulse like Allison does. You have to cancel your date. You have to call her." Stiles said, lunging for Scott's jacket.

"What are you doing? Give me that." Scott was growing angrier by the minute and seeing Stiles go through his phone to find Alison's number wasn't helping.

"I'm just finding her number-"

"Stiles this isn't your best idea, maybe you should-"

"Give it to me." Scott growled as his eyes flashed yellow, causing Stiles and Lottie to freeze. Scott lunges at Stiles pushing him against the wall as he grabs his phone back. Scott pulls away and slashes at Stiles' desk chair.

"What the fuck was that Scott?" Lottie fumed as she stood in front of Stiles protectively.

"I didn't mean to do that." Scott started towards the two, aiming to help Stiles off the ground, but Lottie stood her ground and gave him a death glare. "I'm sorry. Really, I didn't mean it. I have to go. I have to get ready for the party. I'm sorry." He apologised, looking down, before grabbing his jacket and making a swift exit.

"Come here." Lottie said softly as she helped Stiles up. Guiding him over to his bed, she sat next to him, draping her legs across his lap as she hugged him gently.

"Uh Lottie. You see that too right?" Stiles said quietly, looking over at his desk chair. Lottie slowly turned her face to the chair.

"You mean the massive claw marks that have ruined the world's comfiest desk chair? Yeah I see them." Lottie said, gasping lightly, realising her and Stiles were correct.

"Lottie, would you do me the honour of accompanying me to the party and saving our best friends ass?"

"Nothing would make me happier."

✧༺♥༻✧

"What do you think of this one?" Lottie asked, twirling in her third outfit change of the night, standing to face an unimpressed Stiles.

"As beautiful as the last two. Lottie we have to get a move on. Remember our best friend? Fangs and all?"

"I know, it doesn't mean I can't look good though. Just don't let him get any dog slobber on me or else."

"You always look good." Stiles mumbled as she turned to her mirror and touched up her lip gloss.

"Come on, Batman, let's go save our friend from public humiliation and a side of potential homicide." Lottie smirked as she linked her pinky with Stiles and dragged him out of the door.

"I'm Batman? Yes!" Stiles cheered as he helped her into his jeep.

"Of course. Now step on it."

The two sped through the streets of Beacon Hills until they reached the party, parking as close as they could despite the crowded streets.

"You know, if you park here your dad will have to give you another ticket right?" Lottie said as she walked round to him.

"Eh, I have like sixty at this point. It'll only be scary when he actually makes me pay for them." Stiles replied as Lottie rolled her eyes. The two walked into the party looking in separate directions for their friend.

"I've got eyes on Scott." Stiles whispered.

"And I've got eyes on Derek?" Lottie whispered back questioningly, wondering what the older man was doing at a teenagers party.

"Right, you keep an eye on Derek and I'll keep an eye on Scott?" Stiles asked, dragging her into the makeshift dance floor and pulling her so she had a direct view of Derek.

"Sure thing." The two begin to dance to blend in, Stiles hands cautiously going to her waist as she slung her arms over his shoulders.

"We've never danced before have we?" Stiles asked curiously.

"Uh, nope I don't think so. Unless you count our performance of 'Don't Stop Me Now' for your mum and dad when we were seven." Lottie laughed fondly at the memory. "Shame the first time is because our friend could have a homicidal freak out at any minute."

"Don't worry, next time will be all about our sweet moves." Stiles chuckled as he twirled her, admiring her until his eyes focused on Scott who was barging through people at a rapid pace. "Scott's on the move. Let's go."

The two run after him, spotting him speeding away in his mothers car, the two go to follow him when Lottie stops in her tracks noticing Derek talking to Allison.

"Stiles, I'll meet you at Scotts."

"What? Nope. Not happening." As he follows her eyesight to the couple.

"Scott has let her down, I can smooth over the situation and get a vibe off this Derek guy okay? I'll call if I need help. Go. She's a teenage girl who looks creeped out by a strange man, I'm not leaving her." Lottie reassured.

"Fine." Stiles said, watching her walk away.

"I'm a friend of Scott's. My name's Derek." Lottie heard Derek introduce as she made her way over, taking a deep breath as she put on her best fake smile.

"Derek? Oh my God! What are you doing here?" Lottie smiled, walking in between Derek and Allison.

"Do I-?"

"You've been away forever, I've missed you." Lottie said, reaching up and hugging the tall men. "Go along with it, or else." She whispered in his ear, causing him to stiffen in confusion. She had her suspicions you see, Derek shows up the night after Scott was bitten. It could be a coincidence but she had a horrible feeling it wasn't.

"I've missed you too, Tiny." Derek smiled tightly down at the younger girl, who was too busy turning to face Allison to notice.

"You're Allison right? Hi. I'm Lottie, Scott's best friend. He sent me looking for you to apologise, he left in a panic because his mum rang him with an emergency. He feels awful about leaving you." Lottie lied effortlessly, Derek noting how her heartbeat stayed steady.

"Hi, nice to meet you. Is he okay?" Allison asked shyly.

"He will be fine I'm sure. Now how about I get us a taxi home?" Lottie suggested pulling out her phone when Derek reached over and put his hand over hers.

"I'll give you two a lift." Looking up in suspicion, Lottie nodded, having to go along with the fact she thought it was safe due to the fact she hugged him not five minutes prior.

"Lets go."

The car ride was awkwardly quiet on the way to Allison's house to say the least. The new girl sat in the front twiddling her hair nervously, directing Derek quietly to her house. Lottie just stuck her head between the two seats and kept glancing at the pair, making the whole situation more awkward.

"Right Allison, it was lovely meeting you, you should sit with us at lunch someday." Lottie said as the girl left the car with a smile.

"I'd like that. Thank you Derek."

Lottie climbed through to the front seat, dolloping herself in the passenger seat, turning her body to face her new 'friend'.

"So Derek. What's your deal? You a werewolf too?"

"How did you- Irrelevant, look me and Scott are the same now, we're brothers -" He was cut off by the sound of her gagging theatrically, whilst insulted, he was grateful as he'd unintentionally spilled more than he wanted to for a reason unknown to him.

"Brothers? Puh-lease. You both howl at the moon, monthly like a girl with period cramps. Did you bite him?"

"No?"

"Then he's not a part of your pack. Just another lone wolf." Lottie sassed.

"You've done your research." Derek said starting the car.

"Obviously. He's my best friend."

"I don't want to hurt him."

"Yet you're following him around making him more nervous thus more likely to shift. Not exactly being helpful there Mr."

Lottie grabbed her phone and sent a quick text to Stiles.

- Allison safe at home. On my way x

"He needs to learn to control himself, Tiny."

"He will. But not when he feels he's being stalked. For example, I didn't tell you where I was going or his address and yet, you've driven me to Scott's house." Lottie said, getting out of the car.

"I need to go. Nice meeting you Tiny." Derek replied with a smile before speeding off. Lottie sighed before turning to Scott's house, only to be stopped by Stiles running out to her and dragging her to his Jeep.

"What now?" Lottie groaned.

"Scott ran off to find Allison, he left before I could show him your text, he thinks Derek is the one who killed that girl and bit him."

"Well Derek denies that statement. At least the part about him biting Scott. I don't know about the killing part." Lottie explained as they started to drive.

"How would you know that?" Stiles asked.

"Because I asked him? Duh." Lottie said, matter of factly.

"You asked a werewolf, if he- God have you got a death wish?" Stiles said, exhausted.

"Only on Tuesdays." Lottie smirked.

✧༺♥༻✧

The two were still driving around searching for Scott when the sun rose. Stiles glanced over at Lottie who was humming lightly under her breath. She looked back at him with a lazy smile before something caught her eye.

"Stiles look there! Scott." The boy was unaware of the rattling blue jeep making its way over to him, only looking up when Stiles spoke.

"Scott? Are you okay? We've been driving all over looking for you."

"You were right. About all of it." Scott sighed, climbing into the passenger seat as Lottie climbed into the back.

"It's okay Scotty. You've got us." Lottie grabbed his shoulder comfortingly.

"You know what actually worries me most?"

"If you say Allison, I'm going to punch you in the head. Hard." Stiles mused.

"She probably hates me now."

"I doubt that. But you might want to come up with a pretty amazing apology. Or just tell her the truth and revel in the awesomeness of the fact that you're a freaking werewolf." Stiles was getting giddy until he noticed his two friends staring blankly at him. "Okay, bad idea. We'll get through this. If I have to, I'll chain you up myself on full moon nights and feed you live mice. I had a boa once. I can do it."

"First of all, I still cannot believe you were actually given a boa, awful idea. Second of all, I covered for you. Allison thinks your mum had an emergency and so you being the white knight, ran to her rescue. She was concerned if anything." Lottie explained as Scott smiled. "I know, I'm awesome. Now can we go and get McDonalds for breakfast please?" She asked, fluttering her eyelashes as Stiles put his foot on the gas and sped them away.
