'optimism? in the world of supernatural beacon hills? how cute'

✧༺♥༻✧

The sleep Lottie and Stiles had didn't last long as Scott rang the duo and told them to meet him at a nightclub. He'd been chasing the Kanima with Derek and wanted backup. Quickly pulling on her skirt and heels, Lottie kept Stiles' hoodie on and they sped off to the nightclub where they met a frazzled Scott.

"You see where he went?" Stiles asked Scott as he got out of the Jeep, going round to Lottie's side to open the door for her and help her down.

"Lost him."

"You couldn't catch a scent?" Lottie asked.

"I don't think he has one. Although speaking of scents, yours is different Lottie. Salty almost. Like the sort of smell you get at the beach." Scott sniffed the air as he sussed her out. Lottie squeezed Stiles' hand, silently telling him now wasn't the time.

"Any clue where he's going?" Stiles asked, distracting Scott.

"To kill someone." Scott deadpanned.

"Right, that's what the claws and fangs are for. Now it all makes sense." Stiles sarcastically remarked. But when he saw the unimpressed look Scott was sending him he retracted his statement. "Sorry. I'm a hundred and forty seven pounds of pale skin and fragile bone. Sarcasm's my only defence."

"Well you have that bat I got you for your birthday?" Lottie offered with a smile.

"Can you two just help me find it?" Scott interrupted exasperated.

"Scotty, it's not an it. It's Jackass, an important distinction." Lottie told the boy. Not wanting to harm the Kanima despite it being a murderer. She didn't want to hurt Jackson, despite how much of an asshole he could be.

"I know, I know." Scott sighed.

"But does he know? And did anyone else see him back at your house?" Stiles asked.

"I don't think so. And he already passed Derek's test anyway." Scott reminded the group.

"Yeah, but that's the thing. How did he pass the test?" Stiles continued his slew of questions.

"I. Don't. Know." Scott enunciated.

"Maybe it's an either/or thing. Derek said a snake can't be poisoned by its own venom, right? So when's the Kanima not the Kanima?" Lottie suggested, it made the most sense.

"When it's Jackson." Scott and Stiles answered at the same time. Scott looked at the duo before Stiles nodded up to the roof, pointing with his finger. And lo and behold there was the Kanima, sliding his way along the roof of the club. Then it slid into one of the air vents and into the club.

"What's it doing going in there?" Stiles asked.

"I think I know who he's after." Scott told the duo, looking at the queue. Lottie squinted as she saw a sight that made her heart drop.

"What? How? Did you smell something?"

"Armani." Scott answered.

"Danny." Lottie sighed sadly, knowing their night just got worse. The three of them made their way round the back of the club, finding a back door.

"Maybe there's a window we could climb through–" Stiles suggested after he tried to open the locked door, cutting himself off when Scott ripped the door handle off, thus unlocking it. "Or a handle we could rip off with superhuman strength. How did I not think of that?"

Lottie grinned at the boys before opening the door and leading the way, she wasn't dressed for the club by any means but she'd have a good time regardless, even if the main goal was to find Jackson, she still owed Stiles a dance.

She made her way to the dance floor immediately, dancing with a group of drag queens as they pulled her over. She looked over at Stiles and chuckled as he stood surrounded by another group of drag queens who were fussing over him. Scott looked around and came to the realisation very late.

"Dude... Everyone in here is a dude. I think this is a gay club." He remarked, turning to Stiles who stood blank-faced at the werewolf.

"Wow... nothing gets past those keen werewolf senses, does it?" Stiles told him, pointing at Lottie who was currently doing the macarena very enthusiastically with one of her new friends.

"I'll be back, I need to keep an eye on those two dummies." She told her new friend, Miss Moody.

"Have fun gurl. Don't let them get you into too much trouble." The queen winked before going back to her dancing as Lottie made her way over to the boys. "Hi! I'll have a pornstar martini please." She told the bartender who winked and made her the drink in double time.

"How do you manage to find the only straight bartender in the club and also get served without ID?" Stiles asked, flabbergasted as they turned around to face the dancing crowd.

"He's not straight, first of all. Second of all." She said, before flashing her eyes quickly at Stiles who was trying to put his straw in his mouth and missing as he looked at the white colour flash before him.

"Oh. Right. So cool." He grinned sheepishly. "I found Danny." Stiles informed the duo he was standing with, Scott however had his gaze fixed on the ceiling.

"I found Jackson." Scott replied. There, crawling across the ceiling like a spider, the Kanima made its way towards the dance floor and more worryingly, closer to Danny. All humour left both Lottie and Stiles' face as they watched the Kanima stealthily head for Danny. Stiles placed his Coke on the bar whilst Lottie downed her Pornstar Martini, slamming the glass on the bar and sending a wink to the bartender.

"Go get Danny." Scott told the two of them.

"What are you gonna do?" Stiles asked, shutting up when Scott flashed his claws. "Yep, that'll do it."

The two danced their way through the crowd, ultimately losing Danny in the process as the dance floor got too crowded to see more than one person away from them. Fog and smoke began to fill their eyesight causing Lottie to clutch Stiles tightly. Closing her eyes tightly she began to focus on the water particles in the smoke, hoping she could funnel it away. Slowly but surely, she reached out one hand and the smoke began to drag itself towards her open palm. When the fog cleared, the duo noticed their newest problem. There were paralysed bodies all over the floor.

"I'm so impressed with you right now, and also a bit turned on? Actually like insanely-" Stiles began as he watched the girl close her fist around the remaining smoke that her skin hadn't absorbed.

"Stiles, as much as I want you to finish that sentence - and trust me, I wanna know all about how I turn you on- can you please continue your compliments later, we need to find Scott and Jackson?" Lottie dragged him towards the exit where she'd seen Scott run out moments before.

"Okay but- wait what- you wanna- okay I'm pausing but seriously- so impressed." Stiles continued. The duo ran through the parked cars, eventually finding Scott kneeling down, holding Jackson in his arms. Lottie approached the two only to turn her back and shut her eyes when she realised Jackson was indeed naked. Stiles quickly approached the girl and covered her eyes with his hands protectively.

"What are we gonna do with him?" Scott asked as Jackson shivered in his arms.

"Put some pants on him preferably." Lottie mused.

✧༺♥༻✧

Lottie made her way over to Scott who was standing with Danny who was laying on a stretcher, paralysed from Jacksons venom.

"Daniel! Oh you poor thing. How are you?" She asked, reaching down and kissing her friend on the cheek.

"As good as one can be when they're paralysed from the neck down. Although I am wondering what you and McCall are doing here." Danny replied with a smile.

"Just seeing if you're okay and wondering if--well--anything kind of weird happened to you today." Scott fumbled over his words, catching the blank look Danny was sending him. "Besides being paralysed from the neck down."

"Sorry, but we need to get him to the hospital." The EMT told the two un-paralysed teenagers.

"I just need to talk to him for half a second–" Scott tried as Lottie began to pull at his hand, trying to drag him away.

"Talk to him at the hospital."

"One more question. Just one." Danny looked surprised by the genuine concern on Scott's face. "Are you okay?"

"Did it happen to my ex too?" Danny asked, looking at Lottie who was scanning the crowd. When she turned back to him with an evil grin, he smiled. "I'm okay. In fact I am great."

Lottie jumped onto Scott's back as he carried her back to the Jeep whilst Stiles was laying a blanket over Jacksons naked form as he laid in the backseat. Lottie frowned when she saw it was HER blanket. She climbed up and into Scott's lap as he'd sat in the passenger seat and she wasn't about to sit with Jackson. Scott rested his head against Lottie's shoulder as Stiles turned to the duo, glaring at Scott briefly as he let jealousy take over, before shaking his head and focusing on the situation at hand.

"Couldn't get anything out of Danny." Scott told Stiles.

"Then can we get out of here now before one of my dad's deputies sees me?" Stiles asked as he put the car in drive, only to stop when the Sheriff's car swerved into the lot, blocking their exit. The trio stared on in horror as they saw Stiles' dad step out of his car. "Can this night get any worse?" Jackson groaned and stirred in the backseat. "THAT WAS RHETORICAL!" Stiles fumed as he turned back to the boy.

"Get rid of him." Scott panicked.

"Get rid of the Sheriff. From a crime scene. Yeah that's not gonna work dumbass." Lottie squealed as Scott pinched her hip. "Ow, you fuckwit."

"Well, do something." Scott pleaded as Stiles sighed, grumbling he left the car, slamming the door as Jackson continued to groan. "Jackson... be quiet." Scott whispered. Outside the car, Stiles walked up to his dad as Scott listened to the conversation.

"What are we doing? Here? It's a club. We were clubbing. At the club." Stiles rambled, trying to keep his fathers attention.

"Not exactly your type of club." Sheriff Stilinski raised a brow.

"Well, Dad... there's something we need to talk about." Stiles started.

"You're not gay." Stilinski deadpanned, unimpressed.

"I could be." Stiles retorted, offended.

"Not dressed like that. And not with how I caught you and Lottie earlier. That reminds me. Me and you- actually me, you and Lottie, need to have a conversation. I- If you're gonna be doing- adult things- you need to be taking all the-" Stilinski stumbled over his words as he was almost as embarrassed as his son.

"OH MY GOD- Dad we don't need that talk. Nothing happened." Stiles replied as Scott smirked from his seat, tuning out of that conversation to tease Lottie.

"So Lotts. You and Stiles get hot and heavy then?" He asked as Lottie froze in his lap and gulped.

"What the fuck are you on about?"

"I just heard Noah say he caught you two in a - compromising shall we say - position. Do tell me everything." He teased.

"Nothing happened." She told the boy, looking in her lap a little sadly. "Nothing at all."

"Well it still-" Jackson, waking up, cut him off.

"What's going on...?" Jackson groaned. Scott moved Lottie into Stiles' seat before turning to Jackson.

"I'm really sorry about this." He said, before punching Jackson in the face, knocking him out. Lottie turned back and covered him with the blanket as Stilinski made his way over. Sticking her head out of the window she grinned at the man.

"Hey Noah. Or should I say Sheriff since you're on duty?"

"Little Lotts." He nodded, before turning back to Stiles. "This is the second crime scene you've just happened to show up at. And I've been fed so many lies I'm not sure I even know the kid standing in front of me. Now what the hell's going on?"

"Dad, look-"

"The truth, Stiles."

"The truth... The truth is we're here with Danny. He broke up with his boyfriend and we were taking him out to get his mind off it. That's it. That's all. I swear." Stiles lied expertly. Lottie sent him a smile and two thumbs up behind his fathers back.

"Well, that's... that's really good of you guys. You're good friends." His father replied bashfully.

"Yeah, we're awesome. Can we go now?" Stiles asked guiltily.

"Go." Stilinski nodded as Lottie climbed back over to Scott's lap and Stiles drove off, ignoring the fact that she literally broke a law in front of the town's Sheriff by doing so.

"What about your house?" Stiles asked Scott as the trio discussed places to hold Jackson.

"Not with my Mom there. We need somewhere we can hold him long enough to figure out what to do with him. Or long enough to convince him he's dangerous."

"We could keep him at my house? He'd be less likely to freak out about that?" Lottie offered, shrinking in Scott's lap at the looks she received from her best friends.

"He could kill you. Not happening." Stiles refused. "Why don't we just kill him?" He offered.

"Any more unhelpful suggestions? Cos that is not happening! He's an asshole, doesn't mean he deserves to die!" Lottie fumed.

"I think I got something." Stiles thought aloud. Judging by the look on his face, Lottie knew it wasn't one of his better ideas.

"Does it involve breaking the law?" Scott asked.

"By now, don't you think that's a given?" Stiles retorted.

"I was trying to be optimistic." Scott sighed as Lottie chuckled.

"Optimism? In the world of supernatural Beacon Hills? How cute." She laughed.

✧༺♥༻✧

Lottie stumbled her way through Beacon Hills forest, ignoring the chill that still ran down her spine. She hated the forest now. As much as she thought being a siren was pretty cool, she hated that she'd had no choice. She stopped short when she saw Stiles' terrible idea.

"A police van. We're so dead." She told the boys as Stiles opened up the back of the van and let her climb up first, greeted by a grumpy Jackson.

"Lotso? You're not in on this are you?" Jackson asked incredulously.

"On the kidnapping? Eh, I'm in between. But you are going round killing people though so I'm leaning more towards it at this point." Lottie shrugged.

"Okay, I brought you some food–" Stiles began as he unzipped his bag and Lottie rolled her eyes. That was until Jackson lunged for Stiles, then she flashed her white glowing eyes at him as he shrunk back into his seat.

"Hands off Jackass."

"What are you?" He asked.

"Nothing. You'll forget you ever saw that. You also won't attack Stiles again." She compelled.

"You're getting good at that." Stiles smirked as he watched Jackson's eyes glaze.

"Don't worry. I'd never use it on you guys." She grinned.

"Can you guys just let me out?" Jackson asked with a sigh.

"You know, I put those pants on you. One leg at a time. Being up close and personal with your junk was not exactly a highlight of my day. So don't think this is fun for me either. We're doing you a favour." Stiles scolded, shaking the image of Jackson's junk out of his memory.

"This is doing me a favour?" Jackson asked rhetorically.

"Yes. You're killing people. To death. And until we figure out how to stop you, you're staying in here. Now do you want ham and cheese or the turkey club?" Stiles asked as Lottie muffled a laugh.

"You actually think my parents won't be looking for me?"

"Not if they think nothing's wrong." Stiles showed Jackson his phone which displayed a message to Jackson's mother saying:

~ Stayed at a friend's house last night. Everything is fine. Love you. ~

"You know you grow scales?" Lottie told the boy, distracting him.

"Scales. Like a fish?" He queried.

"Eh more like a reptile. And your claws have this liquid that paralyses people. And you have a tail." Stiles continued.

"Does it do anything?"

"Not that I know of?" Stiles asked, a curious look fell onto his face as Jackson leaned closer to the duo.

"Can I strangle you with it?"

"Not if you wanna keep it Jackass." Lottie smiled sarcastically at the boy.

"You don't believe me? After the semi-final game, what did you do? Right when the game ended." Stiles asked.

"I went home?"

"No you didn't. You attacked me and Derek in the school and trapped us in the pool. You also killed a mechanic--right in front of me by the way--and one of Argent's hunters. Last night, you tried to kill Danny." Stiles informed Jackson who scoffed.

"Why would I try and kill my best friend?"

"That's what Scott's trying to figure out right now." Lottie told the boy, feeling sorry for him, none of this was his fault really.

"Maybe he should be trying to figure out how he's going to pay for a lawyer when I prosecute your asses all the way to jail." Jackson said, looking directly at Stiles. He wasn't going to punish Lottie, he knew she'd just been dragged into this.

"Okay, then. Tell me what happened to you on the night of the first full moon." Stiles asked.

"Nothing. Nothing happened." Jackson sighed sadly as he looked down. Lottie sat next to him and put an arm around him.

"This will all be okay, you know? I have a psychic third-eye for this sort of thing." She grinned, nudging him slightly. "I know you don't believe us, but do you really think I'd spend my day locked in a van with the two of you if there wasn't really an issue?"

Lottie squeezed his arm as she made her way out of the van with Stiles following closely behind her. She sighed, leaning her head on his chest as he wrapped his arms around her, resting his cheek on the top of her head.

Stiles quickly took out Jacksons phone and sent another text to Jackson's parents when the duo heard footsteps heading for them. Lottie subtly stood in front of Stiles and prepared herself to extend her claws. Only to sigh in relief when Allison appeared.

"They know." She panted as she reached the duo. "Jackson's parents, the police. They know."

"They can't. I've been texting his parents since last night. They don't have a clue." Stiles argued.

"My grandfather told me his parents went to the police. They know."

Stiles quickly held the phone far away from him, glancing at it as if it was a loaded weapon before dropping it to the floor. "Oh my God, oh my God!" He ran to the front seat of the police van and turned on the radio, Lottie followed behind quickly.

"All available units proceed to Beacon Hills Preserve as instructed and proceed with caution until Sheriff Stilinski's arrival." The radio blared as Lottie and Stiles cringed. "Repeat, proceed with caution. Proceed with caution."

Allison climbed in the front of the van, putting Lottie on her lap as Stiles buckled himself in and dialled Jackson's Dad before throwing the phone out of the window and driving off.

"Where are we going?" Allison asked, adjusting Lottie in her lap so Lottie faced Stiles, sitting sideways.

"Somewhere far away from here." Stiles muttered.

✧༺♥༻✧

A little while later, Scott met the trio and Jackson at Beacon Hills Lookout Point. He walked up to his friends with a glum look on his face. He began to explain everything Danny had told him.

"If Jackson doesn't remember being the Kanima he definitely won't remember stealing Danny's tablet."

"But why would he steal it if he doesn't even know what's on it?" Stiles asked.

"What if someone else took it?" Allison and Lottie asked at the same time, the girls sharing a high five and a smile.

"Then somebody else knows what he is." Stiles concluded.

"So someone is protecting him? I mean didn't you guys say the Kanima 'seeks a friend'? What if that's who is protecting him?" Lottie thought aloud, unaware of the proud smile on Stiles' face.

"There's something else." Scott said, turning to Stiles. "You said the only thing you found online about the Kanima is that it kills murderers. What if that's actually true?"

"Well yeah but, It can't be. It's tried to kill all of us, excluding Lotts. You, me, Allison. I don't know about you two, but I haven't murdered anyone lately." Stiles replied, pointing between the two of them.

"But I don't think it was actually trying to kill us." Scott looked at Allison. "Remember when we saw it the first time at Isaac's? It didn't really go after us, did it?"

"You're right. It just ran off." Allison agreed.

"And it didn't kill you at the mechanic's garage." Scott said to Stiles.

"But it tried to kill me and Derek at the pool."

"Did it?" Scott pressed.

"Well, it would have. It was waiting for us to come out." Stiles tried, but Lottie turned to him.

"What if it was actually trying to keep you guys in the pool?"

"Why do I feel strangely violated all of a sudden?" Stiles asked the group.

"Because there's something else going on and we don't know what it is. We don't know anything about what Jackson's doing. Or why someone's trying to protect him?" Scott told the group. They were missing a piece of the puzzle and it was one of the most important pieces.

""Know thy enemy." Allison muttered, continuing her sentence when she saw the questioning looks that were being sent her way. "Something my grandfather said."

"Ahhh, that psycho. Runs in the family. No offence. Love you Allycat." Lottie grinned as Allison rolled her eyes with a smile.

"All right, I got it. Kill Jackson. Problem solved." Stiles concluded, clapping his hands together.

"And again. No Stiles, not happening." Lottie sighed.

"Yeah, but what did we just find out? He got the bite from Derek. Funny how he got exactly what he wanted by supposedly risking his life for us."

"It doesn't mean he's not worth saving." Scott argued.

"But it's always something with him."

"He doesn't know what he's doing, Stiles, cut him some slack."

"I didn't know what I was doing. That night I almost killed you guys and Jackson." Scott pointed out as he gestured between Lottie and Stiles. "I had you both to stop me. Jackson doesn't have anyone."

"And whose fault is that?" Stiles scoffed looking down as Lottie linked her pinky with his.

"Stiles I adore the ground you walk on, but you're being really insensitive right now. If we can save him, we have to try." Lottie squeezed his hand as he looked at her and sighed, knowing that he'd do whatever she said and follow her blindly.

✧༺♥༻✧

Stiles and Lottie were walking back through the woods, it was hours later as Lottie had wanted to go home and get changed into something more comfortable. As they made their way back to the Lookout Point they noticed the back of the police van busted open. Sending worried looks to each other, they ran to Scott's car, only to cringe when they saw Allison and Scott half naked and asleep. Lottie rolled her eyes before banging on the windows, waking them abruptly.

Lottie gives the sheepish duo a scolding look before pointing to the prison van. After Allison and Scott dressed themselves, they met Stiles and Lottie at the broken back doors of the van and were greeted with broken chains and torn clothes. And no Jackson.

"I have to tell my dad." Allison muttered. "He's- he's gonna kill someone."

"Tell him. Tell him everything." Scott agreed, turning to face his friends.

"I have to tell mine too." Stiles sighed.

Lottie grabbed his hand and squeezed three times. "We'll tell him together okay?" She smiled as he let a small smile of his own grace his face.

"This is my fault." Scott looked between his friends and girlfriend dejectedly.

"It's not. But we have to tell them. We're a bunch of sixteen year-olds. We can't handle this." Allison comforted her boyfriend, wrapping her arm around him, pulling him close. "How are you going to make your dad believe all this?" Allison asked Stiles.

"I have no idea-"

"He'll believe me." Lottie told the group, inhaling deeply when Stiles squeezed her hand three times.

"No offence but why would he believe you?" Allison asked.

"Because she's not human." Scott answered for her. "You were bitten the night Peter was killed weren't you?"

Lottie nodded sheepishly. "It's not that I didn't want to tell you guys. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't a danger. I'm not a werewolf. I'm so sorry for not telling you. I just wanted to be sure." Lottie pleaded, sighing when Allison and Scott glanced at each other before smiling.

"Come on then, show us what you've got." Scott smirked as his eyes glowed yellow.

Lottie smirked before letting her own eyes glow a bright white, the blue veins glowing in the moonlight, as she smirked bigger her fangs came out and her claws extended. This was the first time Stiles had also seen the transformation in all its glory. He was in awe. So was Allison who walked towards Lottie in a trance, Scott following shortly behind her. It was like they couldn't help themselves but walk closer to Lottie. Quickly Lottie changed back to her normal human self.

"Wow. You look so cool!" Scott beamed. "I'm not even annoyed you kept it from me, I just wish I could've helped you. What are you?"

"She's a siren! How insanely beautiful right?" Stiles answered for her, grinning ear to ear.

"A siren? How though?" Allison asked.

"I promise I'll explain everything but I think we need to get to Stiles' dad and try and stop Jackass. Then I'll tell you everything." Lottie promised, reaching both pinkies out for Scott and Allison to take.

"Love you Lotts." Scott told the girl, bringing her in for a hug. "If you ever need me, or help or anything, in future, please don't struggle by yourself okay?" He whispered in her ear.

"I promise, I've learnt my lesson. Now come on, either you or I need to explain to Noah what's happening."

"I'll go. You go with Allison. See if you can figure out that Latin." Scott told the girl. She smiled, squeezing him tightly before walking over to Stiles and hugging him just as tightly and placing a soft kiss on his cheek before walking over to Allison, a furious blush coating her cheeks.

✧༺♥༻✧

Lottie and Allsion slammed into Allison's room, only to jump back when they saw Lydia sitting on Allison's bed. Lottie grinned brightly and tackled the girl into a hug, falling back onto the bed with her.

"Lydiapad!"

"Lo, I wasn't expecting you but this works." Lydia turned to face Allison. "I've been sitting here for an hour waiting for you."

"I can't hang out right now, Lydia." Allison told the girl harshly, making Lottie frown.

"I don't need someone to hang out with. I need someone to talk to." Lydia ignored the tone Allison had taken with her and took her hand out of Lottie's. Allison heard how vulnerable Lydia was and when Lottie gestured with her head and looked at Lydia, Allison sighed.

"Okay. I know it's important. But if it can just wait-" Allison started.

"Why is everyone always asking me to wait? Why can't anyone have right now available? The only person that is willing to just be there is Lo. If she can drop whatever this is, why can't anybody else?" Lydia asked frustrated as Lottie smiled at the girl.

"Because you can't have everything right now. You know what I need? Someone who can read five pages of Archaic Latin. Obviously, that's not going to be happening any time soon." Allison almost spat at Lydia, taking her frustration out on the strawberry blonde.

"Allison Argent, that is your best friend. Check the tone." Lottie scolded.

"I know Archaic Latin." Lydia perked up.

"How do you know Archaic Latin?" Allison asked, a bashful look on her face.

"I got bored with Classical Latin." Lydia shrugged, not a hint of irony on her face.

"Just how smart are you?" Allsion asked.

"You don't even know the half of it." Lottie beamed, looking at one of her best friends adoringly.

"Show me the pages." Lydia held out her hands to Allison who hesitantly handed her the pages as Lydia made herself comfortable on the bed.

Lydia began transcribing the text from the laptop screen onto the pad, only stopping when Lydia wrote down something that contrasted what Ms. Morrell had originally told them.

"Are you sure about that? Ms. Morrell said that word meant friend. The Kanima seeks a friend." Allison queried, looking at Lottie who shrugged.

"She was wrong. It means master." Lydia informed her, sitting upright.

"The Kanima seeks a master." Allison repeated as a concerned look took over Lottie's face as she connected the pieces.

"What? Is that important?" Lydia asked.

"Yeah. It means someone's not protecting him. They're controlling him." Lottie concluded as she put her face closer to the screen, taking in all the images and text with an audible gulp. "We're so in the shit." She muttered to herself.
