Chapter Six:
Trust Me

As the days went on Bella began to act like herself again. She started to hang out with Jacob, but the nightmare didn't stop. Every night I slept in her room to be there for her when she woke up.

While Bella hung out with Jacob I hung out with the pack and Jess and Angela. Sam told me that it would only be a matter of time before Jacob shifted and I told him to let me know when it happened I wasn't going to let him go through it alone.

Today the pack and I were going cliff diving. I was in a bikini while the boys were in shorts.

I was on Paul's back as Jared and Embry pushed each other.

"You ready Ana?" Paul asks me and I laugh at him nodding my head as I hung on tightly.

"Ready," I told him and he smirked at me as he starts running towards the cliff. He then jumped off as I laughed and held him tighter.

Soon enough we came up for air and I turned to Paul laughing as I pulled him into a hug.
"We have to do that," I told him and he laughed at me ruffling my hair.

After cliff diving, I went to the house with a smile on my face. I saw Bella pulling in the house as I biked there.

"Bells!" I yelled as she opened her truck door. She looked at me laughing softly at my happy expression.

"Yeah Anas?" She asked me and I smiled at her.
"Let's do a movie night with face masks and eat our weight in junk food. Please?" I asked her and she smiled at me nodding.

"Yes!" I squealed as I ran inside the house with Bella laughing falling me.

That night we watched comedies and cuddled sugar as we ate as much junk food as we could. In the middle of the third movie, Bella called my name.

"Ana," Bella said I turned to her.
"Yeah?" I asked her and she sighed looking down

"How do you do it? How did you live again?" Bella asked me and I sighed looking down.

"At first I didn't want to, but when I was with mom and away from the memories and their smell that was still in my room and I learned to. I learned that I didn't want to wait and that I was strong. I told myself I would get through it and I did and so can you Bella," I told her and she nodded at me with tears in her eyes.

"Can you help me?" She asked me in a small voice. I nodded at her bringing her into my arms and holding her close.

"Yeah of course. The first step is just this. Embrace the comfort snd let someone be there for you," I told her and she nodded holding me tightly.

That night we both slept peacefully in each other arms and for the first time in a while, Bella didn't walk up screaming from nightmares.

As time went on Bella started to move on. She started to join in on our weekly family movie nights and she even hung out with Jess and Angela with me. The nightmares also finally stopped.

Right now I was laying in bed reading one of my favorite books when my phone started to ring.
"Hello," I said not even looking at the contact name.

"Ana Jacob is shifting," Jared told me and I immediately stood up at that.

"Alright, I am on my way," I told him throwing some clothes on and heading towards the door. Neither dad nor Bella was home. Dad was at work and Bella was with Jess and Angela.

Getting to Uncle Billy's I raced to the backyard and saw the boys surrounding Jacob. I immediately ran to him and avoided everyone trying to stop me and telling me to get away from him.

I bent to Jacob's level and picked his chin up and made him meet my eyes. I saw his tears making my own start.

"Jake I know it hurts, but to make it stop you have to give into it. Let yourself feel the pain and it will stop. I will be right here the entire time. I believe in you," I told him and he nodded at me with tears in his eyes before he finally gave in to the pain.

Sam tried to pull me back but I slapped his hand away and Jacob finally shifted into s russet brown wolf. I smiled softly at him as he walked up to me and licked my hand. I laughed at him rubbing his head.

"You did good Jake. I am so proud of you," I told him and he wolfed grinned at me making me laugh.

I then stood up and went to stand beside Sam who glared at me shaking his head.
"You could have gotten hurt or worse died. Never do that again," Sam told me and I smiled at him.

"You are welcome and I love you too," I told him and he smiled at me wrapping his arms around me.

The next few days went down fast. Sam told Jacob he could no longer talk to Bella to which I told him that Bella already knew about vampires soon she will figure it out.

After that, I was mostly worried about Bella going back to her depressed state, but instead, she was okay. She was upset but didn't force anything.

Right now I was in my room and reading a book when Bella came into my room. I put the book down and smiled over to her.

"Yeah Bells?" I asked her and she smiled at me coming to sit beside me on the bed.

"Can you come with me? I think I'm ready to say goodbye to Edward but I don't want to do it alone," Bella told me in a quiet voice and I smiled at her.

"Of course. Let me get ready and then we can go," I told her and she smiled at me nodding her head.

I then got dressed and pulled my hair in a messy bun before heading downstairs to Bella who was waiting for me at the door. I smiled at her linking arms with her and heading outside.

After a little hike, we finally arrived at the meadow Bella and Edward used to spend time together. The meadow was dead and I looked towards Bella.

"You okay Bells?" I asked her and she nodded at me.
"Yeah, I just can't believe that it really is over. It just hurts," she told me and I smile at her and wrapped my arms around her shoulder.

"Yeah it hurts but over time you learn to either live with it or it will fade. We will be okay Bells," I told her and she smiled at me wrapping an arm around me.

"I love you, Ana. Thank you," Bella told me and I smiled at her hugging her back.
"Love you to Bells," I told her and as we were about to leave all a sudden a figure came out of the woods.

"Laurent?" Bella and I question together looking at him confused.

"Bella. Ana. I must admit, I didn't expect to find you here," Laurent told us and I looked at him even more confused.

"Well we live here," Bella tells him and I look at him curiously.

"We thought you were in Alaska with Carlisle's friend?" I asked him making Laurent turn his eyes towards me.

"Tanya, I was. It was kind of him to arrange, given my association with James and Victoria, "The Enemy," Laurent told us and I looked at him with sudden realization. He wants to kill us. Quietly I pulled my phone from my pocket and call my first emergency contact which was Sam.

"You tried to help us," Bella says with fear in her voice. I nod at her trying to ca her down. Laurent then begins to stroll in a slow arc around us, his eyes assessing us as he begins to speak again.

"I went to visit the Cullens, but their house is empty. I'm surprised they left you two behind. Weren't you sort of a pet of theirs? And Ana their mate?" Laurent questions and I glare at him.

"Do the Cullens visit often?" Laurent asks us suddenly while I glare heatedly at him.

"Absolutely. All the time," Bella tells him while I don't say anything if I did I would lose my filter and say something rude.

"We will tell them you stopped by," Bella tells him with a fake smile.

"Will they be able to reach you in Alaska?" I asked him and he snapped his gaze towards me.

"I don't think so. Tanya's "vegetarian" family was pleasant enough. But the dietary restrictions were difficult living on nothing but animals," Laurent tells me and I look into his dark blood eyes. I guess he broke his diet was my thought.

"Tell me Bella, Ana. Do you ever feel compelled to... cheat?" Laurent questions Bella as involuntarily takes a step away from him and I continue glaring at him with a fake smile on my face.

"But that's not why I left. I came back here as a favor to Victoria," Laurent told us, and Bella and I shared a glance.

"You're still friends," Bella tells him rather than questions. Laurent shrugs at that.

"More or less. She asked me to get the lay of the land with the Cullens. Because, well, I'm afraid Victoria is quite put out with you both," Laurent tells us as Bella leans into me.

"That's too bad," I tell him with a fake smile.
"But thank you for stopping by I will be sure to tell BOTH my mates that you were here," I tell giving him the fakest smile I could. Laurent glared at me before he starts talking again.

"Well yes. She feels it's only fair to kill Edward, Rosalie, and Emmett's mate, given that they killed hers. Eye for an eye, mates for a mate," Laurent says and I push Bella behind me when he said that.

"They will know who did it. They will come after both of you," Bella told him trying to convince him to leave.

"I don't think they will. After all, how much could either of you mean to them if they left you you both here unprotected?" Laurent asks us as Bella clings to me.

"Victoria sent me here for information. She won't be happy about me killing you both," Laurent told us as he circled us.

"Laurent if you kill is my mates will feel it and Alice will see it. I would be careful you never know when you could lose your head," I told him glaring at him with so much fire it made him falter for a moment.

"Laurent please no," Bella tells pleaded. 

"No, no, no. Don't be upset. I'm doing you both a kindness. Victoria plans on killing you slowly, painfully - whereas I'll make it very quick," Laurent says as he moves closer to us.

"And you Bella you smell so mouth-watering," Laurent says as he faces her, taking in her scent, bloodlust building. Mine and Bella's eyes dart around, escape is impossible.

"Please Sam hurry up," I pleaded in my head hoping that he answers the phone and heard what was happening.

"Ana I love you," Bella says and I look at her wide-eyed. Laurent is then milliseconds from biting me when then abruptly, his expression changes. He sees something in the forest behind both Bella and me and it terrifies him.

"I... don't believe it," Laurent says as he steps back. Bella looks confused as she realizes he's no longer focused on her. I smiled realizing why when I follow his eyes and Sam's enormous black wolf walking out of the darkness of the woods.

He stalks towards them, a low disturbing growl in his throat, sharp teeth gleaming. The wolf slinks closer to us, a mere twenty feet from where we stand, four more wolves soundlessly emerge from the trees, flanking the black wolf.

I smile at Jared and Paul as they turn to me looking me over. I nod at them and they turn both to Laurent with their hackles are up, lips curling, bodies crouched, ready to spring.

Bella was frozen with fear as they come toward her. The Jacobs wolf was the closest and looks directly at her. Laurent continues to retreat and then suddenly, almost simultaneously Laurent bolts across the meadow.

Sam looks at me and I nod as the wolves spring toward both of us and leap right over us in pursuit of Laurent. Their thunderous snarls and snaps shake Bella as the pack sprint after the vampire, surrounding him before he reaches the tree line.

Laurent swings at the dark silver wolf which is Paul. The wolf gets thrown halfway across the meadow. Another wolf lunges at Laurent and he kicks it and it sails into a tree. The two wolves recover, lurch back to the pack which closes in on Laurent. They then attack them as Bella starts to run.

I nod up at Jared who looks towards me before racing after Bella. I then catch up to her and grab her arm.
"Bella! Bella listen to me," I tell her trying to calm her down. She looks towards me wide-eyed.

"You can't tell anyone. Especially dad. Okay?" I asked her and she looks at me confused.
"Wait why?!" Bella questions me and I shake my head.

"Just trust me. Please," I told her and she nodded at me.
"Alright come on," I told her leading her to the house.

Walking in we saw Dad and Harry Clearwater one of his friends and a leader for the tribe. I smiled at them and sent Harry a discreet nod.

Bella and I then went upstairs to my room. I sat down as Bella started pacing.
"Why couldn't I tell Dad?" Bella asked me and I sighed at her.

"Bella Victoria is out there dad will go out there to find the wolves and someone could die. Dad could die because of her," I told her and she sighed nodding her head.

"Your right," Bella told me and I smiled at her.
"I usually am," I told her and she laughed at me throwing a pillow in my face. I gave her a shocked look before throwing one at her. She laughed at me and that is how our pillow fight started with Sugar barking in the background.
