Chapter 7: Getting out isn't the problem; It's getting back.

Unaware that they'd all heard her little curse , Diana put on a fake smile that her previous masters had beaten into her, and approached the brothers.

"Breakfast, Masters?" She queried, waving her hand smoothly. Marc glared. "We aren't your Masters, sweetheart." Mutely she nodded as if to appease him and walked away. Marc turned to his brothers, puzzled as to why they too had not opposed her calling them "Master" . And then he saw it.

The rest of the guys were silent, their jaws gaping as they stared at the food Diana had conjured out of thin air. They had never ever seen such a large spread of food in their lives!

Excited chatter filled the air as they piled heaps of food onto plates that Diana had provided too. Diana.

Before Luke or Silas could take the first bite, Raven asked loudly "Where's Diana?" . The excitement faded and worry crept in as the boys looked around for Diana. Her tracks lead through there! Luke said. His brothers thumped him on the back as they made to go through there. And not a single one of them had a second thought about leaving the food behind.

They found her soon enough, arms around herself, nestled like a bird on a high up tree branch. "Diana!" Owen called. She jumped, nearly toppling of the branch, making the boys' heart skip a beat. Righting her balance, she glared, before remembering something, and her face blanked. "Masters, was the food not to your satisfaction?" She asked, disdain evident in her eyes.

"...n-no that's not it darlin' ..."  Marc interjected cautiously, reaching out his hand to lightly grip hers. Sensing that she'd come, the rest of the guys turned and began their trek back to their camp. Unbeknownst to Diana, she was shoving her thoughts into theirs pretty forcefully, so they were unable to block it out even if they wanted.

Goddamn fuckers, wasting food, ungrateful pigs. If only I could just..... be....free... fuckin Sorenson trapped me....wait.

The men tensed slightly at the name, the same time she froze. "Who's the Sorenson here?!" She demanded abruptly, wrenching her hand from Marc. The unadulterated fear mixed with eyes that spoke of pain and anger, hit the brothers hard. "Sorenson?" Owen spoke up, feigning ignorance.

"That's the only way to find the cave. It's a Sorenson family secret. And since you're the ones who did... one of you is a Sorenson." She explained icily, her frame tensed.

North snorted. "You must mean Sang Sorenson? Yeah that's the bitch that led us to the cave to retrieve the lamp and left us to die. That's when we met you. That Sorenson is a no good, cheating, bitch of a wench. Can't wait to get our revenge on her."

Luke thumped his Brother. " Same here bro." He glared a little into space as he thought of what that Sorenson did.

Owen sent them a little glare, as he hadn't wanted to expose their connections to Sorenson so soon. But it didn't seem so bad now that she knew, judging from her expression.

"Oh," she deflated, as she thought on it. "Well then, you have a lot to share, Masters. Tell me everything. And maybe I can help...That's my job after all." She said, continuing her trek back to camp. The men took turns telling her their story and how Sorenson hired The Academy, which led them to their current situation. The storytelling continued as they reached the camp and ate the food, while she silently watched and listened. Any attempts to offer her food was repelled.

The storytelling went on way into late afternoon, and she kept replenishing their food supply with a wave of her hand.  It didn't escape their notice that she didn't reveal anything about herself other than what they had heard in her thoughts earlier. But they didn't want to say anything just yet, for fear of scaring her away. They'd just managed to establish a common topic with her.

The topic soon diverted to light-hearted banter and jokes that only true family could enjoy. Diana almost wanted to recall her time with her family before everything went to hell, but she stopped herself. No sympathy will be shown, so, no weakness should be shown.

Diana sat there listening intently, diligently casting her eyes away from the alluring food she had set up for the boys. The boys were entranced when she gave a small smile, watching Luke gouge himself on the sweets, despite North's scoldings, that she'd provided. North had voiced his concern but she leaned over and whispered something to him that had him smirking in approval. What'd she say, North? Nathan asked

Oh..nothing...just that what Luke is eating is spelled to taste like candy, but has none of the actual sugar in it... North told his brothers telepathically. "But whyyyy Diaaaanaaaaa" Luke whined. His brothers froze, as Diana turned her sharp attention to him. "Why not, Luke?" She said, playing along.

"I like my actual candy, sugar and calories and all, but...I guess this is a great alternative. Thanks babe." He blew a kiss from where he was and continued with his munching, unaware of what he'd done. "So, how long have you had your telepathy, Lukey" she sang, her eyes taking a serious tone now. "We've had it for a while now, Di..." Axel admitted, as the others looked sheepish at being caught.

They're them. The prophecy....no, it can't be...not them....FUCK!. Her voice filtered into their heads. They jumped in unison at the abrupt yell that echoed in their heads. She stood. "Y-you can hear me." She stated, a knowing and wary look in her eyes. "Diana...we wanted to tell you...but there wasn't a goo..." Dakota started. She held up a hand, halting his apology. "No, I should have known better. You don't have to explain anything. You're the Masters. I-I will go now, so enjoy your food and, please stay together while we are here..." She bowed, waiting for their response. "Diana let us explain, we're your  friends..." Sean tried

"We aren't friends. Rub that lamp thrice to summon me. I'll bring you back to your home. Please, enjoy the foods, Masters." She said politely, still bowed, before she straightened and turned. "Diana!" Corey said. She looked at them over her shoulder and they caught her thought before she disappeared. I can't. Not again.

The boys felt as though they were physically hit when they saw the overwhelming pain and anger in her eyes. And she was gone. For now.

"Well, that just went to shit," Raven said bluntly. "We were all present, remember genius?" North snapped. "You wanna go a few rounds South?" Raven growled advancing. North cracked some of his knuckles.

"Guys, calm down!" Silas grabbed North and pushed him away. "Walk it off! Both of you!" Owen barked at the duo. North shrugged Silas off and stormed off. Raven growled at North's back, but Corey pushed him gently, walking him in the opposite direction of North. Sighing, Corey returned scratching his neck, "He's pissed, but he'll be fine" He told the rest.

"Okay, let's make a plan for when we get back. We're going to have the element of surprise. We need to make it count, gentlemen" Owen announced. Axel spoke what was on their minds "What about Diana?".

Owen sighed harshly. "We need to settle this so that we can not only focus on Diana but also on protecting her. Sang was willing to kill to get her hands on that lamp. God knows what she'd do if she knew we had Diana with us. And Sang WILL know we took the lamp instead once she gets back to Lhitedeys".

"Shouldn't we wait for North and Raven?" Victor voiced.

"I would, but time is not on our side. We'll have to broadcast to them" Axel tapped his temple. the boys nodded, faces set in determination and anger.

A few hours later, North and Raven had still not returned, but the brothers were aware of their mental presence, listening in, and chipping in when necessary. It was clear to all that the two of them had forgiven each other a long time ago, but were prideful and too embarrassed to apologize to the other. The brothers were finalizing their plans when Raven and North returned. They sent glares with no heat to each other as they settled around the fire that had been built. Marc and Victor stood, cramping up from sitting for so long and announced that they'd be taking a small walk before returning. The others nodded and they too stretched out on the sand, admiring the tranquility of the place. Finally, they'd made their plans for Sorenson, and she'd never see it coming.

----0-----

"Hey, haven't Marc and Vic been gone a while?" Gabe mused absently, poking the fire. Dakota frowned,"Yeah, they said it would be short... Let me call them" He closed his eyes in concentration as he would be doing the telepathy over a long distance. He was surprised when he found that he could do it with ease now, as if they were next to him. Vic, Marc you guys on the way back? But there was no response. K..ot.a.. The other boys sat up now, worriedly, listening as Owen tried to call them too. It was silent and the brothers immediately started to move as one towards where Marc and Vic had disappeared to. Hu..hurts.. M..arc he..lp Came in after tense silence. "There's no way we will find them in time!! We don't know this terrain!" Luke cried. "They sound seriously hurt and if we split up, we need Sean there, which is impossible" Brandon noted. "Fuck. We don't know the place, but we know someone who does." Axel voiced.

Owen nodded determinedly and started to rub the lamp. "No wait! If we summon her with that, we'd never get her to see us anything other than her masters. Try calling her" Sean suggested, gripping Owen's wrist, as his other hand tapped his forehead. "Fine. But if it doesn't work, we need to use this, understand?" He said lowly. Sean nodded, his green eyes serious, "I know what's at stake here Owen."

Diana? We need your help. Owen tried. "Again, Owen." He did. Axel rolled his eyes agitated. "You're not even focussing on the link to her!" He growled. Owen glared at him, but focussed on the link. Diana? It's Owen, we need help, please, He sent clearly. The team let out a collective sigh as an angry feminine huff responded. What do you want? She asked.

Sweetheart, it's Sean, Sean took over, sending an annoyed look at Owen. Please, it's Victor and Marc, they went on a walk, and now we can't contact them, and it seems like they could be hurt

She appeared abruptly in the centre of them. "I told you. I said stay the fuck together, why would you let them go alone!'' She hissed. The guys reared back a little at her hostile tone. "B-but-" Brandon started, but she waved her hand. "No point arguing. I'll find them alright." She closed her eyes in concentration, one arm outstretched. "Di...You're a little pale..."Sean said hesitantly, not wanting to interrupt her. She either didn't hear him or ignored his comment. They guys frowned, but didn't say anything as they could deal with that, after their 2 brothers were safely back with them.  Call it selfishness. She made a small noise and with a gush of air, she was gone. "Diana?" Luke called. "She's not here dumbass!" North snarled.

Before Luke could retort, Marc and Victor were lying on the forest floor in front of them. "Vic!Marc! Doc, they don't look too good!" Corey called as he bent over them. Sean knelt, beside Diana who has already put two fingers to their foreheads. "Poison. One of the tribes that live here did it. We have to go now. They saw me take Victor and Marc, they will come for us. None of us can handle them right now."

"We're like a thousand and then some miles away from Lhitedeys. Time, that neither of them have. And my supplies are back at home. I brought my field kit and that isn't equipped for this degree of poisoning. I've...never seen anything like it."

She scowled into air, and some of them heard her mumble, "No better way, right". Speaking up, she stared into each of their eyes."Okay, so everyone grab onto each other tightly. Do it now!" She ordered seeing their baffled looks. "How the fuck will that save them!" Raven snapped. "You listen to me know, or your brothers will fucking die and so will we!" They heard war cries in the background, signalling that the tribes were closing in. Raven glared at her but held on to Axel's arm tightly, and Corey held his forearm. "Okay, now when I say so, I want all of you to picture your living room back in Lhitedeys, okay. Channel it through your telepathy so that the link to that location is stronger."

"Di, are you alright?" Silas asked concerned, as he saw the sweat beading on her forehead. The guys realized that all this while, she'd kept her hands on both Vic's and Marc's forehead. "Does, healing look so easy?" She chided lightly. "Focus! On your house, living room. Owen, you'll allow me to tap into your connection with your brothers so that I too can see the place. It'll increase the chances of us reaching there in one piece."

"One piece?" Gabriel squeaked. "You did it earlier too." Nathan pointed out. She eyed him. "The..circumstances were different. And... getting out of that cave wasn't the problem. It's getting back."

Owen and Axel, who were on either side of her, gripped her forearms tightly, completing the circle.

"Can you do this? We can fight the tribes if you need time to recover" Owen asked. She snorted. "Fight the tribes...pfft don't be silly. Worst thing that c-could happen is that I'll lose too much energy which... could be fatal." She panted, shrugging slightly as she burned the poison out of Vic and Marc.

"W-wait. W-wait Diana, fatal!?!?"Dakota growled. He was ignored by her. "I'm almost done with them. Everyone hold on tight"

Blood dripped from her nose as Vic and Marc began to stir. "Dia-"

The boys' eyes widened as a horde of painted humans appeared and began launching spears at them. A force-shield shot up and blue light began to engulf them.

In a moment, they were gone.
