[1] They Came for Children and Death

In the year X776 they came for the children of Rosemary Village and an unexpected stop. The Heartfilia Residence. The burned the mansion to ash, just as they had done to the village and took the child of Jude and Layla Heartfilia. They burned down the servents's courters and killed all who weren't children. The only child they took from the estate was Lucy, who wouldn't even remember her name along with a fellow prisoner she would soon meet.

The Day of The Attack

Houses burned as parents and adults, alike, were being carelessly murdered by Zeref's followers and worshippers. Children were the only ones being kept from this treatment, although, one can think of it as worse. They were being captured to be enslaved and build a tower to resurrect Zeref, otherwise known as The Black Wizard. His worshippers slew any adult standing in the way of the children, their goal.

They had noticed many children trying to escape their grasps, and one in particular sparked their interest. This child was seen running into an alley. They saw her scarlet red hair blow as she rounded a corner. The little girl was heard to be talking to herself and was in front of a basket, that was big enough for two people to fit in, before her capture. She willingly gave herself up, as if protecting another. Her pursuers, however, payed no mind to this detail, they only wanted her for work, nothing more.

This attitude cost them a prisoner, and, later on, control over a certain prisoner and their cellmates. The cult who had raided and destroyed Rosemary village were heading to the site of construction for their tower, when they were given reason to get more prisoners. They saw many roofs jutting from hills and decided to attack that other village. Little did they know, it wasn't a village. It was the estate of a very well known, and rich family. The creators of the Heartfilia Konzern.

Not knowing, or caring, about this fact, one group of the cult members lead the attack while the second went ahead and took the prisoners they already had. The first group was full of disappointment when they found out only one child was at the assumed village. They had already burned everything and taken care of the adults. Only one had put up a fight. This person was a woman who was in possession of celestial spirit keys, but was, ultimately, defeated and tortured in front of her beloved daughter as punishment.

The blond woman who had died at there hands had boldly accepted her death, and smiled to her daughter while put through tremendous pain. Her daughter had tried to run to her, but was held back by a hooded figure, most likely the leader of the attack that was forced upon her home. The entire time it took for the group to catch up with their fellow followers, they kept a wary eye on the little blonde girl they had captured. Why? Because of the look she had in her eyes; not just pain and suffering, but vengeful and determined looks, as well.

Upon hearing the disappointing news, the other half of the cult put the little blonde girl with he rest of prisoners they had captured rather roughly. They threw her into the back of a covered wagon with her hands bound by rope she could not damage with her frail strength. She landed on other captured children and quickly maneuvered her way off of them. She hadn't noticed but her fancy, nice nightgown was now covered in soot and drenched in blood. She smelt like a fire that had been fuel by blood. The blonde looked the children she had landed on and was ready to apologize to them, as she was taught since she was capable of speaking.

The scarlet an blue haired children quickly shook their head, telling her not to talk. She realized her mistake and immediately bowed to the in thanks while she was sitting on her knees. The little girl had a feeling she was going to have a hard time fitting in with her fellow prisoners, especially with the glares and cold stares she was getting. Only a few other children had spared he of that treatment: it was the two she had landed on and four others that had been near them.

The blonde was still pondering over what had happened at her mansion and realized her little sister, Michelle, had burned and perished along with everything and everyone else. She started silently crying, barely suppressing her sobs. The redheaded girl looked at the blond with pity, and motioned for the girl to go towards her and her blue friend. The three of them sat together for a long time until the wagon ahd come to a stop.

The hooded adults roughly ushered all the children out of the wagon. As the blond, red and blue haired children got out, they stared, horrified, at the wagons, that were similar to theirs, that lined the edge of a beach. A boat was nearby, waiting for them to board. More children were being loaded out of the numerous other wagons and taken to the ship, like the others would be forced to, as well. The blond was frozen in place as the others began to move forward with the rest of the crowd, obediently; this crowd included her two colorful friends.

The man who had tortured her mother noticed her, and how she wasn't following the orders being barked at her. She still stood motionlessly as he approached her. The man allowed her to see his face, and all she saw was blood lust and insanity joined into one man's smile. She glared at him and felt something inside her, but before anything happened, a guard kicked her down from behind and said, "Three days; no food." and walked away.

She realized too late how malicious and cruel these people really were; she got up, off the sand, and walked quickly to her friends that had watched the entire scene that had been played out before them. The blond stayed with the redheaded girl and blue haired boy for the entire ship ride, not moving away from either of their sides. They arrived at a small island, long after their departure and were lined up.

When you got to the front of the line, they would put metal cuffs on both your wrists and send you to the next line where you were provided with a loose blue rag for clothing if you were a girl, and raggedy, worn pants if you were a boy. When the blonde received each of the items given to her, she was sent away to the barely built tower that had cells lined up like a spiral staircase. The blonde, still, stayed with her two new friends and was put in one of the larger cells with them, a weird old man, and the other for children who were nice to her during their ride to the beach.

When the guard was out of earshot the blonde ran to the redheaded girl and hugged her. The redhead hugged her back and smiled. "That was a close one," The boy with blue hair sighed.

The blonde's eyes widened and she stopped hugging her friend and backed away from her. "I'm so sorry!" She squeaked and bowed to her cellmates.

"Why?" The redhead asked.

"It was improper of me to hug someone who does not know me. Father say- said to never, ever do that. It's a serious breech of privacy." She explained.

"Uh, what?" All the children asked confused.

"Did you not learn that?" She asked them.

"We aren't rich." A skinny boy said as if it were obvious.

"Then why did they take me? My family did nothing wrong." The blonde pouted.

"Who are you?" The blue haired boy asked.

"I'm Lucy." The girl smiled.

"Well, I'm Jellal Fernandes." The boy smiled back.

"I'm Erza." The redhead said.

"I'm Wally." The skinny boy said.

"I'm Milliana." A girl with cat-like looks said.

"I'm Simon." A boy with black hair said.

"I'm S-Sho..." A dark skinned boy said awkwardly.

"You can call me Grandpa Rob." The old man finally spoke up.

Lucy looked at him confused. "But you're not my grandpa, I don't know my grandpa." She said.

"Wait, why didn't you guys say you last names?" Jellal pouted.

"W-Were we supposed to?" Lucy asked.

"That's what you do when you introduce yourself for the first time, right?" He stated.

"Simon Mikazuchi." Simon said.

"Wally Buchanan."

"Sho is all you need to know." Sho smiled.

"I only know Milliana, but I don't think it matters." She cheered.

"I-I also don't know my last name..." Erza said, flushed and embarrassed

"Do you want one?" Lucy asked her, and started thinking. After a moment Lucy went to Jellal and they had a quiet conversation for a few seconds then turned to face their friends.

"How about Erza Scarlet? It's the color of your hair, so we definitely won't forget it." He smiled and Erza blushed and nodded.

Lucy and Jellal smile at their accomplishment. A few seconds later Erza asked Lucy, "What about you? What's your last name?"

"I can't seem to remember, but I will eventually." She lied and turned to Rob. "Now, why can we call you grandpa if we're not related?"

"Family isn't just blood. It's a bond that can never be broken, even by cellmates." He explained as the other children listened along with Lucy. Lucy's eyes sparkled and she went to go hug Rob.

"This is okay 'cause we're family, right?" She asked him with a smile as the other children went to go hug their new grandpa. He chuckled and hugged them all back.

"Now that you've had your fun, it's time to work." A guard said harshly, as he came into view.

I was too excited about this story, so I wanted to at least write the first chapter before I finished my other book. :{ )
