-Chapter 53: Norman's Nightmare-

Minutes passed as you slowly became anxious; not liking how blasé you felt. What they all did...it was awful. You were nothing more than a simple sacrifice - something to appease the four males that forced you into living here. And the whole serial killer secret...how on Earth could you keep that to yourself? Then again, it's not like Laura, Amber and Cadence would believe you anyway. Besides, would you even see Laura and Cadence tomorrow...? Cadence said herself that she was just being checked over - to make sure she was 100%. Surely you'd see her. And Laura...she was probably just recovering from the knife throw now.

Hopefully tomorrow you'd have everything sorted out. Then again— You swallowed nervously; recalling how enraged Freddy was earlier. He definitely wouldn't let the Hypnocil thing go so easily - especially if it meant you spent more time with the others and less time with him. Resting your head on Norman's shoulder, you internally Aww-ed at how adorable he was acting when asleep; the worn-out boy clutching your pyjama top while cuddling into your chest. A little smile worked its way onto your face after seeing how fast asleep Norman was - but it soon faded, due to noticing the heavy bags underneath his eyes and how pale his face seemed to be.

How harsh had Freddy been on this poor teen? Did he give them all nightmares? And how often? Perhaps it was a good thing you had the Hypnocil... Tomorrow you should give some to Norman - he looked like the one who really needed it. You ran your fingers through his dark-coloured locks and found his behaviour to be even cuter when he released an unconscious sigh of content; the male clearly exhausted by both Freddy and his disorders. Your eyes fluttered shut whilst your head subconsciously nestled into Norman's neck - feeling pretty tired-out yourself. It was pretty late, after all.

After an hour, you drifted off into a dreamless sleep and started to actually feel relaxed - but to be perfectly honest, you knew deep down you'd never get to experience that. Tiny, helpless cries of distress caused your eyes to shoot open, your sleepy gaze immediately spotting the source of the tearful sounds and growing concerned. Norman. The timid teen was twitching and trembling in terror - tears of anguish trickling down his pale cheeks. Shit, shit, shit. Was it a nightmare? It had to be. And you knew exactly who was responsible for such a malicious act of cruelty. But what could you do about such a vicious and venomous stunt!?

"Norman!? Norman!" You panicked, grasping his shoulders and trying to catch his attention. "It's just a dream! C'mon, don't let Freddy persecute you this way! Michael quick - do something!!" You directed your last sentence at the stalker, whom only tilted his head and shrugged; used to Krueger tormenting the others. Jesus Christ, how heartless could someone possibly be!?

Thinking fast, you took a deep breath and decided to sing a soft lullaby - feeling a little nervous. "A dream is a wish your heart makes." You sung soothingly, rubbing his shoulders as a comforting motion and leaning your head against his lovingly. "When you're fast asleep. In dreams you will lose your heartaches. Whatever you wish for, you keep~"

A few seconds passed and so you bit your lip, feeling like it didn't work. Perhaps another one? Hmm... You'd have to swap out some words though... "Hush, little Norman, don't say a word. Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird~" You altered the lyrics on the spot, your exhaustion spiralling into alarm and worry instead. "And if that mockingbird won't sing, Papa's gonna buy you a—"

You didn't have time to finish; due to Norman's eyes flying open and a shaky gasp escaping his lips a second later. "(Y-Y/n)-! (Y-Y/n)-!" He sobbed sorrowfully, quivering while he broke down completely. "I-It's Freddy, he...he picked on me again-!"

"I know, I know." You wrapped your arms around him fully and allowed him to softly weep into your chest, understanding why he was so worked-up. "Does he do this every night? Or only from time to time?"

"E-Every night." Norman shakily answered, "B-But...B-But it's never been that malicious before. He...He seemed really angry about something..."

"Angry about something, huh...?" You mused to yourself quietly, thinking back to what had taken place earlier.

"And just what do you have there, honey~?"
"Nothing to concern yourself with."
"I swear, what is it with you and Hypnocil!?"
"No means NO, bitch!"

Norman timidly nodded, making you narrow your eyes and grow somewhat cross with the dream demon. "Hey Michael?" You called the silent male's name and got his attention, thinking up a plan. "Would you mind grabbing a glass of water and some more Hypnocil?"

Your frustration increased when he didn't move, Michael obviously not caring whether or not the younger boy got picked on by Freddy. "Look, I would but Freddy can read my thoughts and he'd probably try to stop me." You pushed the issue in annoyance, gritting your teeth at his lack of concern.

"B-But Hannibal said—"

"No offence Norman, but I care too much about you to let Freddy torment you with his poisonous behaviour like this." You sternly interrupted him, stroking his head as a way to soothe him further. "I absolutely refuse to let this go on any further."

"(Y-Y/n), I—"

"Michael." You looked him straight in the eye - trying your best to win the killer over. "If you do this for me, I'll spend all day with you once my psychology class ends. Deal?"

You breathed a sigh of relief when the pale-faced slasher nodded, hugging Norman closer to you while Michael left the room. "Oh...n-now I won't get to see you tomorrow..." The upset boy wailed, clinging to you tightly.

"Hey now, you'll see me in the morning." You tried to distract his distressed mind and steer him away from his tearful thoughts. "And in the evening too."

"B-But...B-But not during the day..." Norman mumbled unhappily, hiding his face as his misery increased by the minute.

"Well hey, I'll make you a promise." You decided on a whim, causing Norman to grow curious and look up at you with woeful eyes. "The day after tomorrow is Saturday, right? So how about we spend all of that day together? Would that make you happy?"

"R-Really...?" Norman whispered joyfully, his eyes shining whilst you internally sighed in more relief. "W-We can really spend all day...together?"

"Mmhm." You dipped your head and flashed him a friendly smile, choosing to give up another free day. "So please, don't worry about spending less time with me than the others, alright? I'd never leave you behind."

"A-Alright..." He stammered with a bashful smile of his own, "I...I won't."

"Good." You then decided to do something completely unexpected; pressing your lips against Norman's lightly in a last attempt to comfort him. "There. That's how you know my promise won't be broken."

Before he could muster up any sort of coherent reply Michael slipped back into the room, handing you another glass of water and a few more Hypnocil pills. "Thank you Michael. I appreciate this." You thanked, shooting him a grateful gaze as you passed the pills and glass of water over to Norman instead.

The quiet slasher just nodded again; returning to the corner and throwing the younger boy a cold glare instead. What the...? Oh well. "There, that should keep you safe." You told Norman gently, watching him swallow the pills with a few sips of water.

"I...I certainly hope so..." He timidly commented, placing the glass of water on the bedside table and nuzzling into your side once again. "I-I love you, (Y/n)."

"I...I love you too." You responded shyly; slowly falling victim to how adorable Norman's actions and personality were. "Now let's get you some rightful rest."

"O...Okay..." Norman hesitantly agreed, still a little skittish about going back to sleep. "B-But (Y/n)...Won't those pills take time to kick in...?"

"Hmm, you're right...mine took around an hour earlier." You thought back to before and stayed silent for a split second, a faint smile spreading across your face straight after.

"W-What is it...?" Norman was bemused by your sudden smile and tilted his head to the side innocently, which you found cute.

"I guess that just means we can spend time together and talk until an hour's passed. Sound good to you?" You gave him a playful wink and it cheered his mood up even more, the male nodding brightly.

"Mmhm!" He spoke excitedly, resting his head against your chest once again in complete and utter content.

"Alrighty then," You ruffled his hair again and then leant back against the pillows - Norman copying your actions. "What do you want to talk about?"
