Chapter 23

*Celosia "Robin" Douglas's POV*:

For the first time ever, we were going with our own plan and not involving Shimizu or having him lead in a certain way. It was scary, but the more I heard them out, the more it made sense to me that Mizzo and Danny's plan just wasn't efficient.

And yet I was going against my own friend and the love of my life. I wasn't so sure if we were making the right decision since we are planning this all of a sudden, yet complained when Shimizu and Danny did it.

It needed more time but time wasn't on our side. To be honest, it never was. We've always fought against it.

As I was walking away from Gaia and Beval, Kimberly grabbed my shoulder.

"Hey girl, are you alright? You aren't scared are you?"

Her striking gray eyes pierced through my soul. I couldn't lie to her. She would've already known I was, that's why the question was rhetorical.

"No, this is so unforgivable of us to do, yet, smart. I want to save the shelter in the most official way possible, but I don't want to do anything we might regret later on", I sighed, flopping my arms down, slapping the side of my thighs.

"You're afraid of what Shimizu will think. You're afraid of getting him upset and being rejected and ridiculed", Kimberly explained, reading my emotions with an eye-roll.

Kimberly was never the type to care what people think. Even back when she was Davidson High School's bully, even after we physically fought, even at the extermination camp, she did her own thing and didn't care about the consequences. It's what made people love, fear, or hate her.

"Yes! I already have to deal with the strange looks others give me here, I can't bare to deal with an angry Mizzo. I'm afraid of going against him and I shouldn't even have to explain why. He means the world to me and I love him", I said with an attitude in response to her eyeroll. "You just don't get it."

I angrily walking away from Kimberly, somewhat regretting how I responded to her. She meant no harm after all. She just wanted me to see how this mission was worth it's consequences.

She followed me, groaning.

"Where are you going?"

I turned to look back at her. Before I could answer, she pointed to the right. There was a hall full of rooms with numbers on them. "Alex's suite is that way".

My face went blank yet looked so stupid. I wasn't planning to go to Alex, I was mindlessly walking, trying to gather my thoughts. I chuckled.

"I-I don't know Kimberly."

Kimberly cut her eyes and glared at me. "You're going to ask him and I'm coming with you too. If he declines, I'll just force him to teleport us".

"And how will you do that?" I asked with a cocked eyebrow as we begin our walk down the hallway where suites 300-399 were.

"I have my ways", she smiled before grabbing my hand. "Come on."

We made it to room 350. Kimberly began banging on the door loudly with no care for other's peace and quiet.

"Alex! Alex! Open the door, we need to talk!", Kimberly shouted obnoxiously.

"Kimberly, why are you being so loud?", I cringed, loudly whispering to her. It was the afternoon but it didn't give Kimberly a right to be so loud and inconsiderate of others. Knowing her, she didn't care.

"Because he's probably in the bathroom jerking off to pictures of me. That loser has to hear me somehow."

I groaned as I pinched my nose bridge, embarrassed by my friend's behavior and how the few people passing by were staring at us.

"ALEX! OPEN U-"

"HOLD ON!", I heard him say from the other side of the door, followed by shuffling noises. Moments went by before the door opened, revealing a groggy Alex wearing a white t-shirt and red pajama pants.

"Why are you banging on my door so loud? If you wanted to chill with me you could've asked before I took a na-"

"Shut it. We are here to ask a favor from you", Kimberly cut him off, ignoring his attempt of flirting. "In the evening, we need you to teleport us back to North California, near our shelter."

"Huh?". This favor woken Alex up even more than the banging. He ran his figures through his blonde hair and furrowed his eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

I spoke up.

"Okay, we aren't supposed to be telling you this or anyone else for that matter. Shimizu and Danny came up with a plan for Trevor to fly us back to Northern California to save the people of the shelter. But Danny had a vision a few hours ago that very soon they will raid our shelter and probably harm our families. We have to beat them there! Please Alex..."

I grabbed his shirt and clenched it tightly in my fist. The tears that begin streaming down my face were salty as some entered my mouth. I started gasping for air as I started to cry. He stared in confusion but also in a state of shock from how serious the situation was.

"I don't ask for much, so please. Save our families. Take me, Beval, Gaia and Kimberly to our home shelter and help us bring those our people back here. They will be safe here. There's space. There's room. Plenty of food. If not, they can roam free in the Philippines. The Philippines isn't tied to the one world government anymore correct? I can't risk losing my family. Please! I beg of you! Just please do this one thing for us. I'll never asked for anything else again", I wailed desperately. My feelings, my tears and my vulnerabilities was all real. I couldn't bear to lose any of the people at the shelter I loved, even those who aren't family. We were there together for five long years, surviving but not living, and yet we created a strong bond with them.

Kimberly watched us. Unsure if she should comfort me or let me continue. She didn't look us in the eye, just looked at the white marble floor below her. She had no family still alive, those abusive bastards were all killed during the pandemic. Yet, she still understood that we had people there that we cared for a lot. Katie, Thomas, Isabella, Noah, Hikari's friends, Max, Mr. Hada and our parents.

Alex blew his breath. Thinking about his response deeply. I'll admit, I did unintentionally dump a bunch on him at once. But this was urgent. We needed him more than anything else.

"Okay! I'll- I'll help you", he responded, carefully.

I smiled. Me and Kimberly both exhaled in relief, happy that he was willing to help. The thing was, he didn't have to. He could've said no and turn us away.

"Under one condition though".

We both looked at him and our smile disappeared.

"If I get in trouble you both take responsibility since this was your idea. Got it?"

Me and Kimberly looked at each other, wondering if we should make this deal. We nodded at each other then looked at Alex.

"Got it".

That evening, we met at the entrance door. The entrance to the shelter. The place were we met Shimizu again for the first time in five years.

It was a couple hours before we were supposed to meet Shimizu and Danny, so we met up one by one. Alex came first, then I, then Gaia, then Kimberly, then Beval.

Alex told us to not bring anything since we were coming right back here. There was no need to bring supplies and waters since we had so many of it already.

Okay, do we have everyone here?", Alex asked with a sigh. You could tell he didn't really want to go through with saving hundreds of people in the span of a short period of time. But this was important and there was no backing out now.

"Yes, we are ready", I responded with an exhale. I wondered how everyone would think or react when they see me. I didn't necessarily leave on good terms with Mr. Hada who blamed me for not having enough food for the shelter. I left Katie and Noah in charge. I just hope everything is at least decent there.

"Okay, everyone. Touch my body", Alex said, holding his arms out.

"Dude, you could've worded that so much better", Beval muttered as he shook his head. Gaia laughed in response, being the only one who acknowledged what he said.

We placed our hands on his arms, making sure we teleported along with him. We grabbed them tightly.

Next thing I knew, a flash of light surrounded us. Then it was as if we went through a wormhole of nothing but light . We were being pulled by a force so strong we had to have been going 100 miles per hour. It was hard for me to keep my eyes open. I just held on to him tightly. I did feel Beval grab my shoulder. I could tell it was him by how strong the grip was.

We were only in the wormhole for five seconds at most. It was swift, but we were back in the shelter, our home shelter in North California. I was expecting to see our people desperately sharing food and water with one another to help each other out. I expected to see Katie caring for the sick and Noah helping out with the hunters and carrying things to the kitchen to store. I even expected to see Mr. Hada screaming at someone over petty shit. But no.

What I saw shook me to the core. My adrenaline rose as my heart rate sped up to the close point of bursting. We stood there like statues, not prepared for what we saw.

FEMA officers. So many of them were arresting people and dragging them up the steps, probably into their Vans. Many people were putting up a fight, some just screamed and squirmed as the officers took them away. Others screamed and cried while reaching for their loved ones. Families were being torn apart. There were several people on the floor. Some were hurt badly. Others were probably dead, one of them was Max, a fellow hunter. FEMA officers came to drag them away.

The place was a mess. Everything was everywhere. Tables upside down, paper everywhere and pieces of glass and wood were in the mix. Screams filled the shelter.

Chaos was all around us. And there was nothing we could do about it. We....we were too late.

"What?!...how?! We had time! How could we have let this happened?!" I screamed, fire arose from my hands as my orange eyes lit up. It was the first time I used my power in so long.

My friends followed suit: Kimberly turning into a Lion and Beval caused extreme winds around the shelter up to 80 miles per hour; this was so the officers would have a hard time aiming their guns at us. Even though the wind was rough, we had enough coordination to still fight and not be blown away. Two large chunks of the ground rose as Gaia's eyes lit up green.

I ran towards a random FEMA officer taking an old lady away by her hair. Seeing me run towards him, he let the woman go. He was about to raise his gun but I quickly pushed it out of his loose grip. I swung my left arm towards him, striking him in the neck. He screamed in agony and panic as the flames spread all over his body. He began running around erratically,

Kimberly attacked another Officer, a female. She teared her limb from limb.

Gaia crushed and strike those with her six foot tall boulders from below us, killing three of the officers.

I would've advised her to call upon all of the animals in the forest, but that would've taken time that we didn't have.

"STOP!", screamed an officer with three other officers beside him, ready to shoot Beval. He blasted them away at great speeds, slamming them against the shelter wall, killing them instantly.

I was shocked nobody shot us yet. We were doing damage with as many officers as we could, but not all.

I charged at another officer but before I could make it towards him. I was yanked back and forcefully inserted with a substance. A needle.

I shrieked out in pain.

Beval, Gaia and Kimberly were sneaked as well by FEMA officers carrying needles.

I remembered this. I remembered a similar situation from when we were at Mina's house. Me, Shimizu, Gaia and Beval were tricked by her. Officers were hiding in the closet. They inserted in us a substance that took our powers away. It's happening again.

The fire from my hands ceased to exist. Kimberly turned back to a human and the winds from Beval stopped. Gaia's boulders were dropped down to the floor as she had no control over them anymore.

They yanked me down to the ground, but not without a fight.

"LET ME GO!", I screamed as I squirmed, being held down on the floor by the Officer. His knee was piercing my back. "LET ME GO OR I SWEAR I WILL-"

"Do what?", the Officer responded in frustration. "You're just a woman now. You can't hurt me. With and without your powers you experimented people are nothing."

Beval grunted as he pushed the Officer off of him. He climbed on top and began punched him over and over. It wasn't long before two other officers came.

One tased him.

Beval jerked and tensed up as he fell to the ground. He was stiff in fetal position. Yet, he was covering his head with his arms as the officers knee and punch him all over his head and upper torso.

"STOP IT! LEAVE HIM ALONE! BEVAL! BEVAL!", Gaia wailed and pleaded as she squirmed.

"Keep your black ass down!", the Officer yelled at Gaia, pinning her down with even greater force.

"YOU RACIST FUCK!" Kimberly screamed at the Officer on top of Gaia. She squirmed, pinned down as well. She then directed her attention to the one on her. "GET THE FUCK OFF OF ME YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!! YOU WILL ALL PAY!!!".

"ROBIN!", I heard a feminine, yet familiar voice called my name.

It was my mother. She was being pulled away along with dad. Both had tears in their eyes.

Mr. Hada. Gaia and Beval's family were no where to be found. We assumed the rest of our loved ones were already in the vans above ground. None were dead below. Thank god.

"MOM! DAD!" I wailed.  I screamed like I was their baby again running to them after falling and scrapping my knee. I didn't want them to see me like this. I tried to protect them and ended up failing. I tried. I tried so hard.

"WE ARE GOING TO GET YOU OUT! WE PROMISE!", I shouted to my parents. My head went to the left and there I saw him. Mr. Hada. He was staring at us in intense shock...until he was shoved by a Officer taking him away. He didn't even have time to say anything, not to even ask about his son.

"SHIMIZU IS ALIVE MR. HADA! HE IS SAFE! ALIVE AND WELL! TYLER WAS RIGHT! HE'S ALIVE! WE WERE WITH HIM!", I screamed at Mr. Hada. He swiftly turned his head at me then turned back. I could see the tears flowing down his face.

"Alex!" I thought. "I have to get Alex to warn Shimizu and the others!"

"ALEX TELEPORT BACK AND GO GET HELP! PLEASE!" I pleaded on the ground, lifting my head towards him. He was in front of us.

"SHUT UP!" The officer on me scowled as he shoved my head down. I could feel the cold floor on the side of my face as I groaned in pain. I looked up at Alex, waiting for him to teleport.

"Sorry", he said nonchalantly. "I work for the World Leader now".
