Dr. Brown, "Looks like we're making progress. He will need to get his blood tested today. Good thing is your new insurance started today so it'll be only $200 compared to the $2,500 the old insurance didn't pay last month."
Ivy, "See babe. I told you. And I want to take Joe to Myrtle Beach. Will he be fine?"
Dr. Brown, "Most definitely. You guys have fun and relax. You both need this."
Ivy, "I told him that also."
Joe, "I mean I'm out of work and she's doing it all. I just don't want to be a burden. As a man doc."
Dr. Brown, "I understand."
Ivy, "But you're my husband. What am I supposed to do just let you die? No. It doesn't matter what it takes I'm in this thing. I'm too in love to allow you to die and not just give a damn just because right now the test is reading leukemia but right around the corner is a report that will read in remission or no cancer found at all."
Dr. Brown, "I understand you both. My wife had to be like Ivy and push me through and have all the faith. And it was hard not working and being sick and feel like I was burden. My wife sold our home and two of our vehicles. The only reason why she didn't sell the other one is because we needed it to get us back and forth to my doctor appointments. So she ended up becoming a bartender at some strip club dealing with ruthless men and---
Joe, "Why? She wasn't a stripper. Why didn't she work somewhere else?"
Dr. Brown, "She dropped out at 16 to raise our son."
Joe and Ivy, "Oh."
Dr. Brown, "Yeah no one was trying to hire a teen drop out that had a baby. Being from a small town they frowned upon you and everybody knew everybody and they'll never let you forget your mistakes even if it is 10 or 20 years ago. It got so bad at her job as a bartender I told her to just quit and I would attend less doctor appointments but she refused and did what she had to do."
Ivy, "See that's all I'm saying. A true marriage and commitment. And I have no doubt that Joe would do the same if it was me sitting here sick. But on a high note, Myrtle Beach HERE WE COME!!!"

Two Days Later...Tuesday

They enter the gym. Every time after the doctor Joe rest then hits the gym a day or two later.
Ivy, "Good luck babe."
Joe, "I got this."
30 Minutes Ivy see Joe really pushing himself. She have always worried about him pushing himself too hard.
Ryder, the owner and Joe's friend, comes over, "See you working hard at it."
Joe, "Man thanks for allowing us to workout for free."
Ryder, "Hey bro, totally. I've known you since fifth grade. I was the annoying kid that you looked out for especially in middle school. You stopped that guy from attacking me with that knife. Dude, I probably would have ended up like JT on Degrassi. Dead. But Joe you took that dude down alongwith with his three friends. I never seen someone straight handle a group of dudes they way you did. Listen bro, we do a little street fight wrestling. Why don't you sign up. In one night you can make a minimum of $1,500. One guy walked away with ten grand one night."
Ivy makes their way over to the boys catching the tail end.
Joe, "I'll stop by and check it out. Not fight but watch. How much is admission?"
Ryder, "Dude, for you its free. I'll never charge you. You're my friend."
Joe get back to his workouts.

Ivy, "You tired big man."
These group of girls walk in. They eye balled Joe and there was even a girl trying to introduce herself.
Ryder, "Hey guys did yall see those girls that walked in?"
Ivy, "Yeah what about them?"
Ryder, "They attend the fight nights and they spend a lot of their daddy's money to see dudes sweat and beat up each other. One always leave with the winner, ending the night in him getting laid."
Ivy, "Oh well we both get laid plenty and don't need any help from bougie street walkers. Whores. Chicken heads. Prostitutes."
Joe, "Baby girl, relax. Don't get tensed up."
Ivy, "You know how I can be."

Thursday
Ivy was packing the last of her and Joe's bags for Myrtle Beach. Ivy, "Hey maybe we can stop and see my grandma. You know she wasn't able to make it to no family events or our wedding because she be so sick."
Joe kisses Ivy's head, "Yeah. I know you wanted her there."
Ivy, "Yeah. I want her to meet you in person. I know she's going to love you."

They arrive to her grandmother's home the next day. Her cousin Amy was there to take care of their grandmother. Joe met Amy and her grandmother.

June 7th- 2 Days Before Ivy's Birthday
They spent the day hanging out. They even fooled around on the public beach under their umbrella.
When her birthday finally arrived on June 9th her and Joe celebrated with some locals at a casino club and they danced in each other's arms.

They returned home June 11th and Joe had a voicemail on his phone from Ryder and his doctor.
Joe, "Hazel!"
Ivy, "Still don't understand why you call me that sometimes when my eyes are green. But anyways, what's sup?"
Joe, "Dr. Brown wants to see me tomorrow."
Ivy, "Your test results."
Joe, "Yeah. I'm nervous as crap. Hopefully its news on progression. I don't want any bad news."
Ivy, "Well I've been praying and I believe that you'll be fine."
Joe phone buzzed and it was Ryder again. Joe receives a text from Ryder "In a few days I'm going to need you to be a bouncer for me. Some of my guys are going out of town and I'll pay you a $1000 just to stand at the door. Hit me up to let me know if you're down."
Joe spins Ivy into his arms, kissing the back of her head and lips, "What's your schedule like for the next few weeks?"
Ivy, "Well trying to get settled with being in corporate now. Some days I'll be staying late. But of course I told them it's not guarantee I can stay."
Joe, "Well if they ask you to stay, do it. You worked so hard baby girl and you deserve it. I'm proud of you. I'll be fine."
Ivy looks at him confused, "What's going on?"
Joe, "Nothing. I just want you to progress at your new job and be tunnel visioned."

At the Doctor's Visit, Dr. Brown cleared Joe to do light work. So...

A week later....Saturday @10:40PM
Joe have been standing at the door making sure people paid admissions for Ryder's Indoor Street Wrestling.

A chick approached him, "Hi."
Joe, "Hello. That'll be $35."
The girl respond, "I don't get a discount?"
Joe, "$30 since you remind me of my wife."
The girl respond, "She must be fine as hell because I know I am. So, where is she?"
Joe, "I'm sorry do I know you?"
She extends her hand, "Myra Kitty. Everyone calls me Kat or Kit Kat."
Joe, "That'll be $30 Ms. Kitty." She hands Joe the money then seductively walks away. Joe looks up and this Teddy Bruckshot looking guy and his Jamaiccan crew walks in. At first they were watching the fights then started eyeing Joe. Joe shoots them a look back when he gets annoyed with his face being burned from them staring so hard.
Bruckshot and his crew watches as Kitty approaches Joe again. They watch as he bends down and she whispers something to him.
Joe walks over to a guy putting an arm submission hold on the guy making him scream out in pain. The guy unhands Kitty's wallet and Joe hands it back to her. Joe demanded the guy apologized to the lady and he does quickly.
The street wrestling was over at 12:50A.M. By the time Joe arrives home its 3:00A.M. Joe stayed behind making sure Ryder was secure while he counted the money and handed Joe $2,500 for him taking down a guy and keeping things together and they talked more about his fight nights. Ryder made over fifteen grand that night. For different people Ryder charged them more to enter.

When Joe walks through the door at 3:00A.M.

Ivy, "It's 3:00 in the morning."
Joe, "I can tell time."
Ivy, "Good. Then you know that it's not a respectable time for you to be waltzing through the door."
Joe, "I was with Ryder and he invited me to a fight night."
Ivy, "A fight night? Really?"
Joe, "Its true. He host and throws the events. He needed security so I---
Ivy, "Just got cleared to do light work. Ryder. Fucking Ryder! He's always up to some BS. Don't security for his sorry as fight know. He such a dork and ass all at the same time let him do it."
Joe, "Hell he paid. And I will be doing it again."
Ivy, "Joe, I don't have a good feeling about this. That's why you wanted to know what was my schedule like, you don't tell me about it until now, it's too late for a married man to be coming home and you smell like sweat, beer and cheap perfume. Is security work all you did?
Joe, "Yes. Don't accuse me."
Ivy, "I'm asking you."
Joe snaps, "And I'm telling you all I did was what I was paid to do, talked to Ryder then brought my ass home, no more or less."
Joe heads upstairs then comes back downstairs with a blanket and pillow and crashes on the couch.
