13.) Bakugo vs Izuku

Night falls after the long day of taking the provisional licensing exam.

Kivi goes on her nightly walk with Hades and Lucifer, only to discover Izuku and Katsuki walking along.

"What an odd pair, huh guys?" Kivi mutters to her panthers.

"Rowr!" they both agree.

"Let's follow them," Kivi grins.

The three keep their distance to not get detected. She follows them all the way to Ground Beta.

She climbs up to a building's roof using her power to make steps to the top. She heads to the edge to listen in on their conversation and sits on the edge, draping her legs off the side. Hades sits to her left and Lucifer to her right.

She listens in and begins to understand why All Might and Izuku's energies were similar. She watches the two fight and shout their conversation with each other. In Bakugo's anger, he ends up stumbling backwards and falls on his butt. Izuku powers off and moves up to him worriedly which makes him even more pissed off.

Bakugo's voice begins to become shakey; the way one would sound holding back tears. "Don't you dare worry about me!" He stands up. "Attack me! Why won't you fight back?!" He continues speaking, slowly breaking down. He looks up. "But it's because of me that he lost his power! If I had been stronger! If I hadn't been kidnapped by villains! That never would've happened." He wipes his eyes and continues. "I can't get it out of my head! It's constantly playing on loop! So what the hell am I supposed to do?!"

Kivi feels her heart pang a little for the asshole. They continue their fight along with their heartfelt angry conversation. Kivi has to continuously hold up a shield around herself and her panthers. Their battle ends with Bakugo as the winner.

All Might finally decides to make his appearance known. "Stop this right now! Both of you." He walks up to the two boys. "Sorry, but I heard what you said."

"All Might..." Bakugo whispers, turning to him.

"When did you get here?" Izuku mutters.

Bakugo stands up, but Izuku just sits up from the ground.

"I didn't notice before. I should have," All Might says.

"It's too late now," Bakugo murmurs, turning away. "...Why did you pick Deku? It started with the sludge villain, didn't it? So why him?"

"He was powerless but still more heroic than anyone else. I knew you were stronger, that much was obvious. You were someone who could already fight, so I decided that he should have a chance to stand in the ring."

"But now you know I'm weak too," Bakugo grunts. "I always wanted to be like you which meant being as strong as possible but look what I did to you. Because I'm not good enough." He closes his eyes and struggles not to cry.

All Might finally makes it to stand in front of them. "This is not your fault, young Bakugo. I was always going to lose my power. You couldn't do anything to change that. You are strong, but I focused on physical strength and not on what was important." He grabs Bakugo and immediately pulls him into a hug. "This isn't your burden. I apologize. Sometimes I forget that you're children."

After a moment, Bakugo forces himself out of the hug. All Might continues his speech.

"Dammit..." Bakugo mutters, falling on his butt. "That's not what I wanted to hear."

Bakugo and Izuku exchange a few words.

"I promise, Kacchan."

"Alright, spill. Who else knows about you two?" Bakugo asks.

"Recovery Girl and Principal Nezu do," All Might says. "As far as students go... only you... and Kivi."

Kivi freezes up as All Might looks up at her. Kivi gives a sheepish grin as the two boys whip their heads in her direction.

"Heh heh, hi!" Kivi waves. She makes steps down from the roof and stands next to them. "Sorry, noticed you two leave as I was out on my nightly walk with Hades and Lucifer." Said two follow behind her.

"So, you don't want this to get out because that would be bad," Bakugo says. "Don't worry your secret's safe with me. I won't tell anyone what's going on. Unlike Deku, I can keep my mouth shut. This will stay between us."

"Same here," Kivi says.

"Thanks, guys," Izuku says.

All Might speaks a few words before telling them the story behind his quirk.

"This makes sense now," Kivi says.

"It should after he just explained it," Bakugo scoffs.

"No, not that," Kivi says, turning towards Izuku. "Now I understand why you have more than one quirk."

Everyone blinks and all is silent for a few minutes.

"What?!" Izuku shouts.

"You didn't know?" Kivi questions. "You knew about All Might's but not your original quirk? Well, I guess that would make sense. Your original quirk isn't really all that helpful. It's technically an invisible quirk."

"Wait, what is his original quirk?" Bakugo asks. "And how the fuck do you know?"

"It's part of my quirk. If I absorb your energy, I'm able to tell what your quirk does," Kivi explains. "Let's see... you basically attract hot things. You don't really know that you use it, thinking that that stuff is normal for you. You typically use it when you're embarrassed mixed with nervous. People crumble at your cute smile. Though, I assume it didn't work much until it combined with All Might's power. You don't notice how attractive people flock to you?"

"W-what?!" Izuku squeaks, face flushing.

"Guess it makes sense why Bakugo is attracted to you then since he has a fire-based quirk."

"What was that?!"

"It's why you bullied him so much, is it not? You had an odd attraction to him which is why you pushed him away," Kivi explains.

Bakugo becomes silent either in thought or extreme anger maybe a mix of both.

"I... can't believe it..." Izuku mutters. "It would make sense though. My mother's quirk is called attraction of small objects, and my father's quirk is called fire breath. It would be a mix of them both."

He continues his muttering while Bakugo looks on annoyed.

All Might gives Kivi a look. "We still need to have our talk. After Aizawa deals with these two."

"Alright, I'll talk while we walk. Hades and Lucifer still need their walk."

All Might nods as they all return to 1-A's dorm. Izuku gets 3 days house arrest, and Bakugo gets 4. Kivi somehow manages to have to do the dishes for the week. The two boys get dismissed back to their rooms as All Might and Kivi return outside to walk her panthers.

It's silent between them before Kivi breaks it, knowing the topic of conversation already. "So, what did All for One say to you?"

"He told me that he trained you at one point."

Kivi sighs. "That he did. Its the reason why I was banished from France to Japan by the authorities."

"He also mentioned that he gave you another quirk."

Kivi pauses in her steps, hair falling into her face. "That he did... I've managed to control it and have figured how to turn it off. I haven't used it since... since..."

"I know why you're here. I didn't know that he was behind it," All Might says.

"Why didn't you kill him?" Kivi asks. "I gave you plenty of energy to."

"I wish I could've," All Might says thoughtfully. "He most likely has a quirk that could prevent it otherwise he probably would be."

"Damn him."

It's quiet, the only sound being their footsteps and the two panthers exploring.

"If I may ask, what is this quirk that he gave you?" All Might asks.

Kivi sighs. "All for One called it Ghost. I think the only reason he gave it to me was because he couldn't handle it."

"What does it do?"

"It's not an especially powerful quirk. At least... not by itself. It enables me to sees ghosts, spirits, and other worldly creatures and interact with them. Though combined with my power, I'm able to share my energy with them to make them visible and touch people other than myself. They're also able to possess me and use their quirks if I let them. That's limited to 10 minutes and then a 25 minute wait before I can use it again," Kivi explains. "The creatures I see aren't always human. I don't exactly know what they are." She shivers, wrapping her arms around herself. "They're terrifying..."

"Dare I ask what kinds of things?" All Might questions.

"It'll give you nightmares... All those scary movies of paranormal activity... They aren't far off... Sometimes they're worse..." She shakes but quickly pushes away the images to not lose control of herself. "H-he forced this quirk on me. He got rid of it because all the people he killed hover around him constantly, and they began to harm him. He had to get rid of it and gave it to me, so he wouldn't see or feel the ghosts around him anymore."

"That's what all those entities were that showed up then?"

"I... don't remember much of what happened that day. I've turned off that quirk. I don't plan to ever use it. I didn't want it. I still don't. I wish that he could take it back..."

~~~
All Might leaves Kivi back at the dorms and with a wave, he's out of sight. She turns inside and heads straight to Bakugo's room. She sends her panthers the rest of the way in the elevator to her floor. Kivi knocks on his door and doesn't get an answer.
"Pommi open the damn door, I know you're still awake," Kivi sighs. It's silent and she sighs. "I can feel your energy awake." He still doesn't reply. "I know you put up a strong front in front of everyone else. You can't hide that part from me... My quirk won't let me just ignore it either. I know you don't want to show anyone what you think is a weakness. You think it's better this way, but it's not. You shouldn't bear this alone. Open the door before I do."
The door finally creeps open to reveal a broken Bakugo. "What... the fuck do you want?"
Kivi forces her way into his room, much to his annoyance, but he doesn't put up a fight like he usually would. "Listen, I'm not the best at comforting people close to my age or older. Fuck, I'm legit terrible and just stand there most of the time trying to figure out what to do. If they want a hug or want space. I don't know. I especially don't know what to do with you."
"I don't need your damn comfort or pity," he sniffles angrily, sitting on his bed.
"I'm not pitying you, Katsuki. I... honestly don't even want to do this. The only reason I'm doing this for an ass like you is so my head won't hurt from your energy pounding at my head. It's the same reason I was at your house after your rescue. You have so much pent up energy almost all the time. Anyone who I've taken a lot of energy from or has repeatedly been in my shields, I can constantly feel their energy. It's never been a problem till I met you. You're always so angry!"
"Fuck off..."
Kivi sighs. "Anyway, I... I've felt similar to how you are now. Releasing your emotions just shows that... you've been strong for too long. It's better to not release these feelings alone. That's... why I'm here. I guess..." She moves to sit beside him on the bed.
"I don't need your damn help," he snarls, turning away from her.
"It's not a weakness to cry," Kivi says, hesitating before deciding to place a hand on his shoulder. "I'd know. I do it every once in a while."
He sniffles, continuing to hold back his tears. "Fuck off..." He shrugs off her hand.
"No," Kivi responds. "The energy radiating off you is affecting me. It's making me all soft and caring and sad. I'm not gonna deal with it." She grabs him and pulls him into a hug. "Let it out. I promise you'll feel better after you do."
Bakugo continues to tensely shake before slumping onto her shoulder. He doesn't shove off her embrace. It's silent for a good few minutes.
"Dammit..." Bakugo finally mutters before burying his face into her shoulder, wrapping his arms around her and digging his fingers into her shirt. Her shirt begins to get heavier from his tears soaking it. He sobs in anger, anger at himself, and anger about his mixed feelings of sadness, pain, and guilt. Maybe a little bit of fright as well, but he will never admit that he was ever scared when he was kidnapped.
Kivi rubs circles along his back and brushes her other hand through his surprisingly soft hair. After about ten minutes, his cries begin to tone down into nothing. Then just like a small child, he falls asleep. Kivi's lips twitch into a tiny smile. "How cute just like a little kid. I guess I'm better at this than I thought." She slowly tries to lay him down on his bed, but his grip tightens around her waist. She moves to lie down with him. "Guess I'm staying here tonight." She chuckles. "He's not gonna be happy in the morning."
She pulls the covers over top them and falls asleep after a few minutes.
