Erin Peterson was different from normal humans and could talk to animals. When she was old enough to get a job, she used this ability to her advantage, becoming a zookeeper at the same zoo her adopted father worked at. She didn't know how she was able to talk to animals, for her biological parents had not been in her life, and she didn't remember anything about them.

However, that hadn't stopped her from forming a family of her own, even though most of them had fur and four legs, with some having two legs and feathers. 

However, that all changed when something different, something magical, entered her something, something unexpected that she and her family and coworkers didn't know existed until one was brought in injured and alone.
