Chapter 15
*Lilia's P.O.V*
I stood in the middle of my bedroom, which looked like it'd been hit by a whirlwind of clothes and shoes. It was 10:30 on Saturday morning, Callum was coming to pick me up at 12:30 and I wasn't even dressed.
I heard a knock on my bedroom door, followed by Zoe's voice, "Lils? Can I come in?"
"Yeah." I replied and the door opened as she walked in. I'd texted her asking her to come up and help me. I'd also texted Elsie asking her to come over and help as well, but obviously she wasn't here yet.
"So what's the problem? Apart from your room being torn apart..." My sister asked, looking around at the mess that was currently my bedroom.
"I have no idea what to wear on my date. Do I go with a dress, or is that too fancy? Do I go with jeans, or is that too casual? And what the hell type of shoes do I wear?!" I stressed. Can you blame me, though? I'd never been on a date before.
"Right, first of all, calm down," Zoe told me, standing in front of me and putting her hands on my shoulders, "You've got plenty of time to find the perfect outfit before Callum comes to pick you up." I just nodded as a response before Zoe and I started rummaging through my clothes. Ten minutes later, Elsie barged into my room.
"Alfie let me in; I came as soon as I got your message." She said, panting slightly.
"Did you run all the way here?" I asked in disbelief.
"No, I ran to the bus stop and then I ran here from the bus stop." She explained, "But what did you expect? My best friend is having a first-date-fashion crisis, I had to get here as fast as I could!"
I just laughed at my best friend, "You're the best."
"I know." She flipped her hair, making me laugh again as Zoe chuckled as well.
After trying on several different outfits and finding something wrong with every single one of them, my sister and my best friend finally managed to find me the perfect thing to wear on my date; a turquoise blue skater dress, black tights, white high-top Converse and a black leather jacket. A black, lace heart choker was around my neck and a black rhinestone bow ring was on my right ring finger. Zoe curled my hair while Elsie painted my nails a glossy baby pink colour. My makeup was done subtly, but it was still obvious I was wearing it and my lips were covered in my Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade Nude Flush. Lastly, I chose out my phone case which happened to be the same sort of colour as my dress and had little cameras and the word 'smile!' printed all over it.
I stood in front of my mirror with Zoe and Elsie either side of me, admiring my outfit once it was complete, with my black quilted handbag over my shoulder which had a gold chain.
"Do you really think Callum will like it?" I asked, pulling the jacket closer to my body.
"Girl, he won't be able to keep his eyes off you." Elsie told me.
"You really do look beautiful." Zoe said. I smiled.
"Thanks guys." I said.
"No problem." They replied in unison.
"Come on, let's go downstairs and see what the boys think." Zoe said before Elsie and I followed her downstairs. We went into the living room, where Alfie, Mark and Connor all were.
"Wow, Lilia, you look great." Alfie was the first to notice me, which made Mark and Connor look up from whatever they were doing.
"You look so cute! Callum is gonna love you." Mark gushed.
"Thanks." I giggled. I glanced over at Connor to see him staring at me, his mouth open ever so slightly. As soon as my eye caught his, however, he looked away and I swear I saw him blush. Okay, weird.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang and I felt my heartbeat speed up and grow louder so I could hear it in my own ears.
"Oh god, he's here!" I squeaked, my nerves running wild.
"Lilia, relax. Just go and have fun." Elsie said, grabbing my hand and giving it a squeeze.
"Elsie's right, don't worry. Just be yourself and Callum will love you." Zoe said, giving me a quick side hug.
"Thanks." I said to both her and Elsie. I left the living room to answer the door, only for Connor to follow me.
"Wait, Lils." He called, which caught me by surprise as he never calls me Lils.
"What?" I snapped, expecting him to make some comment about how unlucky Callum was because he was going out with me.
"I just wanted to say be careful. You never know what these guys have in mind." He said, which only surprised me even more.
"Oh, well, thanks for the concern, I guess, but I can take care of myself." I didn't say it in a mean way, I was just telling him.
"I know, I was just saying." He replied. I just nodded instead of verbally responding before turning towards the door again, only for Connor to stop me, again, "Oh, wait, one more thing."
"Yes, Connor?" I turned back to him with an annoyed expression. Why couldn't he just let me answer the damn door? Callum's waiting for me!
"I, uh, just wanted to say... You look really pretty. Callum really is going to love you." He told me. That was the very last thing I expected to come out of his mouth.
"Oh, um, thanks, Connor." I gave him a genuine smile and strangely enough, I felt myself blushing. It was probably just because I was taken aback by what he said, though. I then, finally, walked over to the door and opened it, revealing a very good looking Callum stood there. He was wearing a grey jumper, black skinny jeans, black Converse and a denim jacket. A maroon beanie was also pulled over the back of his head, his fringe peaking out the front. I felt my stomach fill with butterflies just from the sight of him.
"Callum." I smiled at him.
"Hey, you ready to go?" He asked, a charming half-smile on his face.
"Yep." I grinned, glancing at Connor one last time before shutting the door behind me.
*Connor's P.O.V*
I was sat on the sofa in the living room, scrolling mindlessly through twitter, when Alfie said something.
"Wow, Lilia, you look great."
I looked up and my jaw dropped. Everything else felt like it disappeared and all I could focus on was Lilia in that beautiful blue dress that hugged her body perfectly and her gorgeous blonde hair that elegantly cascaded over her shoulders and down her back.
I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret here; I don't really hate Lilia. In fact, it's the exact opposite. I knew she was something special the very first time I met her. Everything about her is perfect to me. She's funny, she's caring, she doesn't care about what other people think and her passion for music and acting is extremely attractive and incredibly adorable at the same time, and in the last year or so that I've known Lilia Sugg, I've fallen for her. I've never been good at handling my feelings and picking on her is just how I cope with it. I know, I'm seventeen and I'm acting like a preschooler pulling on his crush's pigtails to get her attention, but I don't know how else to deal with these feelings. Sure, I've had girlfriends before, but I've never felt the way I do for Lilia for anyone else before.
"You look so cute! Callum is going to love you!" Mark exclaimed. I absentmindedly clenched my jaw at the mention of Callum. It should be me taking her out for lunch. It should be me that she's all nervous about going on a date with. Who is this Callum guy, anyway? I don't trust him. And yes I am aware that I haven't even met him yet.
Lilia then looked over at me and caught me staring, so I quickly looked away and hoped she didn't notice me blushing. That was when the doorbell went off.
"Oh god, he's here!" Lilia squealed anxiously. Zoe and Elsie then gave her a pep talk about how Callum will love her as long as she's herself, which was true. Who wouldn't love Lilia when she's being herself?
"Thanks." Lilia said to Zoe and Elsie before taking a deep breath and leaving the living room to answer the door.
No, that's it. I can't let her go on a date with someone else when I have such strong feelings for her.
"Wait, Lils." I followed her and stopped her before she could reach the front door.
"What?" She snapped, turning to me with an annoyed expression. I hated how she expected me to say something mean whenever I spoke to her, but that was my own fault.
"I just wanted to say be careful. You never know what these guys have in mind." Okay, so I wasn't exactly declaring my undying love for her, but I was showing that I cared, right? Lilia looked surprised at what I said.
"Oh, well, thanks, I guess, but I can take care of myself." She said it with a small smile, so I knew she wasn't having a go at me.
"I know, I was just saying." I replied and she just nodded, before reaching for the door again.
Don't let her go! Say something! My conscience yelled.
"Oh, wait, one more thing." I said suddenly.
"Yes, Connor?" She sighed, probably annoyed I wasn't letting her answer the door.
"I, uh, just wanted to say... You look really pretty. Callum really is going to love you." Wow, smooth. Not.
"Oh, um, thanks, Connor." She gave me a gorgeous smile and I noticed her cheeks turn a bit pink. Was she blushing because of what I said? Did that actually work?
Apparently, it didn't work as well as I'd hoped as she the turned again to get the door and I didn't stop her this time. She opened the door to reveal a tallish guy with brown hair and blue eyes. He looked like a douche already, and no I wasn't just saying that out of jealousy.
"Callum." I hated how dreamy Lilia's voice sounded when she greeted him. She should be saying my name dreamily.
"Hey, you ready to go?" He didn't even smile at her properly.
"Yep." Lilia grinned. I sighed as she glanced at me quickly before closing the door behind her.
What's wrong with me?! Why can't I just tell her how I feel? And why did I have to make her hate me just because I don't know how to express myself?!
