Chapter 28: I don't need you
"Are you dumb?! That is so easy!" Namjoon raised his eyebrows in shock.
Lilli groaned while massaging her temple. "Can't we just take a small break?"
Namjoon's mouth formed a thin line, his face turning into a poker face. "Lilli... we started half an hour ago..."
"WHat?" The blonde girl took her phone in shock, smashing her face on the desk after checking the time.
Namjoon couldn't help but sigh, this was indeed, going to be more difficult than he thought. He observed the dumb girl next to him, it seemed like she had no motivation to actually succeed at the test. Won't her parents get angry either? He asked himself, and felt a bit envious... If he failed a test, his parents would rip him off.
He looked at his hand watch and mentally sighed again, the schools break was going to end soon. Then, he remembered the girl being insistent about something, which gave him an idea.
The bell rang and Lilli stood up at light speed to leave.
"Lilli" Namjoon made her freeze. "We aren't going to get anywhere like this, the school break is too short and you don't even pay attention at all" he complained as she bitted her lips.
"Since you don't have any motivation, let's make a deal" He waited for her reaction, but there was none, so, nervously, he decided to continue. "If you take this seriously, I will attend your party" He was not sure if that was going to work, but he clearly remembered her asking him to go at least 3 times, he knew that it was for a purpose, but was yoongi going to the party such a big deal?
Lilli chuckled making Namjoon get nervous, he gulped down hearing her talk. "And why should that be a motivation?" she asked as she placed her hands on her hips. 'Of course' he thought, why would it be?
"Tomorrow at my place, after school" she spat before smiling and leaving.
Namjoon stared at the closed door in front of him as the silence fullfilled the room.
He smiled for half a second, before remembering the time.
"Shit I'm late for class!" He grabbed his things and rushed out of the room.

"Sorry for arriving late- Woah you look miserable" Yoongi made a disgusted face making Courtney roll her eyes. "What happened?" he closed the music classroom's door behind him while watching the depressed girl sitting on the ground.
"Nothing" she places her chin on her legs, which stay glued to her chest.
Yoongi sighs, sitting next to her on the floor. "I know It's something about Hoseok, no need to hide it"
Courtney turns her head to the side, locking eyes with his blonde friend. "How do you know?"
Yoongi chuckled "Maybe because since I know you, he is the reason of all your sadness" he shrugged and patted her back "Tell me"
Courtney sighed while remembering what had happened after Hoseok helped her at the dance practice room.
"Thanks Hoseok-" The two figures standing already outside of the practice room are interrupted by a familiar femenine voice.
"Hobi?" Kendall approaches both of them with furrowed eyebrows. She eyes them closely from head to toe. "Were you... dancing?" she raises her eyebrows for a split of a second before Hoseok answers.
"No! I- I was just passing by"
"But-" Kendall seems to want to add something, but before she is able to do so, Hoseok grabs her hand and leaves.
Yoongi sighed as Courtney closed her eyes.
"I just feel so dumb, whenever I feel he is acting nicer or at least barely close to how he was before, he just goes back to being an asshole. And I know you said I should give him the same trait but you need people who add something to your life, not subtract-"
"No this isn't your fault, I would be confused too if I was too" Yoongi sighed and scratched the back of his head.
He watched the blonde girl whose hair moved at the rythm of the wind entering by the open window. He watched, with clenched jaw, her honey colored eyes which shined with the sun reflecting on them.
He wanted to act as if it didn't affect him, but he would be lying to himself.
"You..." His voice broke the peaceful silence as he grabbed one strand of her soft and straight hair.
"You need people who add something to your life, not subtract" He said, smiling sweetly at Courtney, who smiled back being a bit taken aback.
"Oh- You called me here to show me something" Yoongi flinched before blinking twice and looking away, he was too focused on her shining eyes and immediatly thought he could have looked like a freak.
"Y-yeah" He stood up and helped Courtney to get up too. "Come here" he guided her to the piano where both of them sat down.
Courtney watched Yoongi play a beautiful melody, It was slow and calm, somehow even nostalgic.
"It's not finished but-"
"Yoongi It's beautiful" she smiled sweetly "You are so talented"
Yoongi shyly shrugged and looked away.
The bell rang making them stand up.
"Finally" Courtney said as she stretched her arms.
They grabbed their backpacks and proceeded to leave the classroom.
"You are leaving with Lilli right?"
"Na, I think she has art club right now" Courtney shrugged.
"Then I will accompany you" He assured as they began making their ways to the entrance with heavy steps.
Students tend to rush out of the building as soon as they can leave, but Courtney was too immersed on her thoughts. She recalled what Yoongi said over and over, making her smile.
"Yoongi"
"Hm?"
"Thank you."
The blonde boy stared at her as they walked, waiting for her to continue.
"Thank you for today... What you said reminded me a lot of my mum's words"
Steps became slower and slower and the hall was empty. Yoongi stared at her, dumbfounded, as she continued.
"My dad left when my mum was pregnant, He never wanted to help her nor even meet me. But she encouraged me during my whole childhood and life in general, so thanks to her, we both overcomed it. I got to a point where I did not care about his existence, and I thought I was strong for it... But, now I see that's not true at all, I keep going back to Hoseok like some kind of lost puppy-"
"Courtney" Yoongi interrupted her, seeing her hands turning into fists and her gaze lowering on the ground, he felt giving herself such scolding was not healthy, nor necessary.
The girl met his eyes and his soft smile, and hearing him, her hands loosened.
"Nobody's perfect. And you are not weak or dumb just because you are waiting for someone you have hope in to change"
Courtney smiled and nodded as they continued walking, she felt as if a huge weight left her shoulders, a weight she has been holding since she saw Hoseok for the first time in the city. And it was probably going to be a challenge, and maybe going to hurt too, but she didn't need her dad, and she surely doesn't need Hoseok either...
Yoongi watched her smile proudly and for a split of second before reaching the last stairs, his eyes landed on the opened literature club's door. He saw his figure, Jung Hoseok's figure.
"Courtney, Huh- I forgot I actually have to do something now, I'm sorry"
"Huh? Okay go ahead, see you tomorrow" Courtney frowned at first, confused, but waved at him smiling afterwards.
Yoongi smiled back and watched her back getting further and further away before making his way straight to the literature club's classroom.
