Chapter 22: Namjoon

"Teacher... I didn't get that result"

"Oh- What did you get?" The man asked while frowning a bit.

"2.735.000" Namjoon answered, eliciting the teacher to check everything again.

"You are right" The man nodded, correcting everything on the board.

Namjoon smiled, for a pair of seconds before his eyes landed on Jungkook, who looked way too pissed off.

It was the second day of his second year of high school, and his first in this school in particular, and he already was getting bad vibes from someone, but he simply brushed it off and thought that maybe, the boy was having a bad day.

He just thought, because that same day he met the said boy in the bathroom, and his welcoming wasn't exactly nice.

And days went by, and It didn't please Namjoon at all finding out that he could do nothing against him because he was being protected by the son of the principal, and so, a near whole year passed by, and he couldn't wait till it finally ended just to move to another school, because he was tired of being alone, and he was tired of Jungkook.

Until he met Yoongi -though in not the most friendly way-. Both crossed paths in the music club classroom, which was recently opened. He was incredibly happy when he found out it did, afterall, he had been writing songs and rapping for years now, -secretly- of course, since his parents owuld likely be against it, they just cared about his grades so the only thing left for him was to keep up with the smart kid facade. And even though it was a burden for him, it leaded him to be transferred to a smart-kids class only, which meant he wouldn't have to mind about Jungkook, at least not in class.

But his smile didn't last long after entering the kind of dusty and small music classroom, because there, sitting on the piano and playing videogames was someone he knew too well who he was, he was the captain of the basketball team, and that didn't give him a good vibe.

He liked it or not, he couldn't help to generalize after meeting too much popular and sporty people that did nothing but to confirm the image he has of them; that they are mean and brainless.

Namjoon watched the blonde, carelessly playing games instead of the piano, moving his fingers at the speed of light without uttering a single word.

"What?" The boy finally met his gaze, frowning almost showing a disgusted expression, eliciting the taller boy to blink twice in a row and look away, surprised and embarassed.

It was a new club, one that Namjoon was finally interested in joining and he did surely not expect to see him there.

He internally rolled his eyes and left, leaving the blonde boy dumbfounded. He was tired of dealing with these people. 'Screw the music club'  he thought, afterall, he was leaving in just a pair of months.

And days passed by, everything just routinely, and he was just going to attend one of his classes when he passed by the music club classroom -or he was supposed to just pass by- since hearing a piano and random freestyles, he stopped. He moved his ear closer to the door, he could hear some groans accompanied by paper scratching, whoever was inside was having a hard time, and even then, he really enjoyed the lyrics and melody being developed.

And with trembling hands, he reached for the door knob, a small smile crossing his lips at the thought of someone having the same dream as him. He shook his head before sighing silently, and entered.

But there he was, Yoongi again. Namjoon could only stare with wide eyes, dumbfounded. And so did the blonde boy in front of him too.

"What?" He asked again justlike in their first encounter, sending big déjà vu vibes.

But this time Namjoon didn't leave.

He made his way towards the boy and grabbed his small book, nodding slowly while reading it. Then, he grabbed the pen next to him and wrote something.

Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows while reading it, not in disappointment but in surprise, and proceeded to lock eyes with him.

"It's good" He simply said, and with such simple words, Namjoon smiled genuinely maybe for the first time in the whole year.

Since then onwards, both of them meeting in said classroom became routine, they helped each other with lyrics and melodies, and for the first time Namjoon realized that maybe not everyone is the same.

Specially when Yoongi started standing up for him, sure, the bullying wasn't done but it indeed was reduced. And then Namjoon thought that maybe, just maybe, staying in the school was not the worst idea.

So he stayed for three years more, though he wasn't taking in account that another asshole will join Jungkook in his fifth year of high school, and that was Jung Hoseok.
