Settling in

Sun Dragon walked into his new dorm with glee on his face. He didn't have a roommate at the moment, but he had plenty of neighbors to hang out with if he wanted to. Nonetheless, he was happy to be in a community such as Skylanders Academy. The room was somewhat empty with only a bed, a dresser or two, a table, and a closet. Plus two windows, one of which was over his bed. The room was made for two, so Sun Dragon knew he'd get a roommate eventually. Whoever it will be will be determined by the Senseis who ran the Academy. Sun Dragon didn't mind that, he could accommodate with anyone. Heck, he'd be fine if Kaos himself was his roommate. If Kaos would be alright with that of course.

Sun Dragon started placing his things to make himself at home. He calls most of his possessions souvenirs since he got them from the many islands he visited. Though many of the things he has seem like more then souvenirs to most. He has jewelry with gold chain and fine cut gems, most of them precious in value. He also has very nice quilts with beautiful imagery and soft fabric. Sun Dragon also had many books, old and new, that he enjoyed. Many of the more complicated ones were originally written by authors like Pomfre the bookworm, while much of the siller tales were often based on stories from or were originally written on Earth. Sun Dragon, being an oriental dragon, always had an eye for fancy and artistic things that truly moved him in some way.

Sun Dragon had left his door open, so it didn't surprise him when he didn't hear a knock before someone said something. She was one of his neighbors from the room next to his. She had come to meet and greet with her new neighbor. She looked like a normal female deer from Earth that had been dyed light blue, and had feathery wings with a rainbow pattern at their edge.

???: Hello there. You must be the new student around here.
Sun Dragon: Why yes I am little lady, and you must be one of my fellow students, yes?
???: Yes! I'm Raindoe, and I live in the room next to your's on the right here.
Sun Dragon: Call me Sun Dragon. It's a pleasure to meet you.
Raindoe: Same. If you ever have any questions you're more then welcome to come ask me or most anyone here. We're all happy to help a fellow student.
Sun Dragon: I'll be sure to remember that. Out of curiosity, how long have you been here Raindoe?
Raindoe: Oh, well, I'm just starting my second year here. Some of the cadets in this section are closer to graduating. I believe the cadet who used to live in this room before just graduated a few months ago.
Sun Dragon: Ah, so you're still somewhat new. That's fine. I'm new too, so I won't embarrass you or anything.
Raindoe: Thanks. I'm normally quite shy, so I appreciate it. May I ask what element you are?
Sun Dragon: Ah, I am a Light elemental. Years ago before the discovery of the Light and Dark elements I was considered a Life elemental like my dear friend Camo, so I understand if there's any confusion about my element.

As they were talking, another cadet from down the hall took notice. He was Crocavile, a living crocodile skeleton with wild dark purple hair. He's a reformed villian, so many people didn't trust or like him, and he was aware of it. Master Eon assured everyone though that Crocavile had the potential and capability to become a valuable Skylander, and that was enough to let everyone know that Crocavile was to be trusted. Being the immature person he was, he decided to chat with Raindoe and see if the new cadet was worth steal- I mean prank on.

Crocavile: 'Ello, 'ello, 'ello! Morning to ya Rainy!
Raindoe: Oh. Crocavile. Back from your elemental class already? 😒
Crocavile: What? You don't sound happy to see me. Oh, you must be new around here!
Sun Dragon: Yes, and I take it your name is "Crocavile" was it?
Crocavile: Wow, you learn fast!
Raindoe: Crocavile here is a trickster. Typical of a reformed villian like him.
Crocavile: You hate me, don't you? You really hate me! (Starts sobbing intensely)
Raindoe:(sigh) Don't pay him no mind Sun Dragon. One of his abilities is to shed crocodile tears, so he often fakes being upset like this.
Crocavile: Man, why does everyone have to ruin my fun?
Raindoe: He can also cackle to the point everyone around him starts laughing uncontrollably, so you might want to stay away from him.
Sun Dragon: I'm sure I'll be fine. I'll keep that in mind though just in case. It's nice to meet you Crocavile. I'm sure you set an example for other reformed villians around here.
Crocavile: See, there are people who appreciate my way of life! Thank you so-

That's when Crocavile noticed all the things Sun Dragon had in his room. His jaw bone almost literally dropped. Quite valuable and precious and shiny and irresistible treasures waiting to be stol- I mean collected. His eyes glittered at the beauty of profitable objects in Sun Dragon's room, and he imagined it wasn't all Sun Dragon had either. You see, Crocavile used to work for Count Moneybone before doing his own thing, so he had developed a sharp eye for wealth inducing things. He got so carried away at this that he didn't realize he hadn't finished his childish introduction.

Raindoe: Uh oh. You might want to start thinking about getting a safe Sun Dragon. Or a night guard.
Sun Dragon: An desire of wealth hm? Not the best desire, but definitely not the worst in my book. Tell you what Crocavile, I'm willing to break tradition and be the one giving you a gift. A token of friendship if you will.

Sun Dragon reached over and pulled out one of his pieces of jewelry. It was a small necklace that had a gold chain with a brilliant aqua marine gem hanging from it. Sun Dragon handed it to Crocavile, and Crocavile was actually hesitant to take it. He was in shock; someone was actually giving him something of value to him? No one has done that before. Even when he came to Skylanders Academy, all he was given was a few "welcomes" and several criticisms by fellow cadets. But Sun Dragon was giving him something of his out of, what do people call it, the goodness of his heart?

Maybe there are trustworthy people out there in the land of the living after all.

Sun Dragon: Oh, I almost forgot! I'm to attend my homeroom class shortly. I'm told it was in classroom 314, but I'm afraid I'm unsure of where that is.
Raindoe: I can show you. I have a class in that hallway I need to get going to myself.
Sun Dragon: Thank you! You can keep that Crocavile. I have plenty more, if not too many! See you later?
Crocavile: Uh...Sure, yeah. Later.
Sun Dragon: I'm told I shouldn't worry about classwork in homeroom, so I'm ready when you are.
Raindoe: Same. Come on.

The two walked away and left the hall. Crocavile just stood there holding the jeweled necklace in his boney hands before uttering two small words he never thought he'd say.

Crocavile:...T-thank you...

(minutes later)

Sun Dragon and his new friend Raindoe went into the hallway lending to their respective classes. It being the afternoon there were obviously other cadets around in the hallway doing whatever. Eventually Raindoe stopped at a door marked with the numbers 314.

Raindoe: Here you are. 314.
Sun Dragon: Ah thank you Raindoe! You've been most helpful! Perhaps we can hang out some more later?
Raindoe: Of course Sun Dragon. I got to get going, so I'll see you later! Oh, and good luck.
Sun Dragon: Good luck?

Raindoe darted down the hallway before Sun Dragon could get an answer for his confusion. What in Skylands did she mean by "good luck"? Maybe his teacher is strict or grumpy. Whatever the case, Sun Dragon was sure he could manage. He knocked on the door so as to announce he was there. The door opened and Sun Dragon immediately recognized the face that greeted him. It was Jet-vac, a valiant skylander and well-known teacher at the Academy. Now Sun Dragon could see why Raindoe said good luck.

Jet-vac: Yes, may I help you?
Sun Dragon: I'm Sun Dragon, and I was told this was to be my homeroom.
Jet-vac: Ah yes! I've been expecting you, Sun Dragon! Come in, come in!

Sun Dragon walked in and took notice to the cadets already inside. He didn't see any worksheets on the tables, so he figured he wasn't interrupting anything. Most of the cadets were elfs or some other humanoid creature, but Sun Dragon noticed a few dragons as well. He especially couldn't help but notice a dragonette with stars and crescent moon shapes on her. She was probably a Magic or Dark element.

Jet-vac: Everyone, this is our newest student, Sun Dragon. I'm told you're an old friend of Camo's are you not Sun Dragon?
Sun Dragon: Oh yes, me and Camo are very close. Afternoon to all of you by the way.
Jet-vac: This "homeroom" class, as everyone likes to call it, is for occasions such as field trips, special guests, and of course new cadets. Think of this as your welcoming community. You are a Light elemental Sun Dragon?
Sun Dragon: Yes, I'm a Light elemental. I was considered a Life elemental before the discovery of the Light and Dark elements, so I understand if there's any confusion.
Jet-vac: I see. Well class, I'll be right here if you need anything at all Sun Dragon. I urge you all to show Sun Dragon here the upmost respect you show me and the other teachers and Senseis here. Sit anywhere you like Sun Dragon.

Sun Dragon nodded in understanding and began looking around for a seat. Jet-vac went back to his desk and began grading papers from previous classes. Sun Dragon couldn't help but head towards the dragonette he saw earlier in hopes of finding a seat close by.

Sun Dragon: Hello, I wouldn't be bothering you if I sat here would I?
???: Naw, go ahead. Conversation was getting boring anyway.
Sun Dragon: Thank you miss. What's your name?
???: I'm Cosmic, and these two are Daphne and Monitar.
Daphne: Hey, I'm a Life elemental. I can see why someone would confuse you for one.
Monitar: And I'm a Fire elemental. Stay outta my way if you wish to not burn, scrub.
Cosmic: Monitar! Don't mind him Sun Dragon. He's a bit of a show off around here. I'm a Magic elemental by the way. It's nice to meet you.
Sun Dragon: The pleasure is mine Cosmic.
Daphne: I bet it is! (Giggles)
Cosmic: What's that supposed to mean Daphne?

Daphne was a chipper dragonette. She was green with leafy wings. Monitar was a large built lizard with magma flowing through him, and had a stern look to him. Sun Dragon talked to the three of them for a while, enjoying every minute of it. He even got their room numbers as well as giving them his. It was tough to convince Monitar to give his room number to Sun Dragon, but since the others hung out at his room alot anyway might as well let Sun Dragon come too.

The rest of the day was pretty good after that. Sun Dragon couldn't resist hanging out with Cosmic and Daphne for a good portion of the day. Monitar had a vehicle class to get to so he had to leave. Sun Dragon invited Crocavile and Raindoe to hangout with them as well, and of course the two of them accepted! All and all, the day was great. They even helped him straighten his room with his stuff. They enjoyed hearing his stories of his travels across Skylands. Before they all knew it, it was time to head to bed. And Sun Dragon slept soundly that night with a smile on his face.

I realize the ending was kinda lazy, but I didn't know what to do. Anyway...

Crocavile, Raindoe, and Monitar are my own creations. You can read about them in my fiction and fantasy book. I'm also planning on putting them up on my Devaintart profile soon. Hope you enjoyed! 🐉
