Sophie's POV
I trudge my way to my shared apartment. The weekend spent in my hometown was refreshing and relaxing. I love spending time with my dad. He is the only one that has been there for me and always will be there for me. My mom has never been in the picture. Most of my family are not around, because they live in different states and things like that. The only family member I am close with other than Dad is Aunt Valerie. She is kinda the nut of the family, but I love her.
I shift my bags in my arms.
My arms going to fall off. Come on, be strong!
I do not look up in time to see someone in my path. The person runs in to me and at the same exact time my phone makes a noise indicating I have received a text.
The person looks up with big eyes. "I am so sorry!" He apologizes and puts his phone in his pocket.
I stare up at this guy that is much taller than me and smile slightly. "It's okay."
"Do you need help?" He questions glancing at my bags.
"No." I simply answer and continue the short walk to my apartment. I glance behind me and see he is staring at. "Do you have somewhere to be?"
I unlock the door and step inside. I drop all my bags loudly on the floor.
"Dude! Aren't we going to go get food!"
I turn to the familiar voices and see a black guy standing with the tall white guy. I walk towards them after shutting my door.
"I know you from somewhere," I tell the black guy.
He turns to me and stares at me for a second. He eyes light up and he grins. "Earbud girl!"
"Basketball player boy!"
He grins. "We should play again."
"In your dreams," I smirk.
"I see you have not changed a bit."
I shrug. "Maybe a little."
He nods. "Well, it has been a long time. How have you been?"
"Good. How have you been?"
"Good. I am attending college. I got a basketball scholarship." He glances at his friend. "My bud here is too."
His red headed friend glances at the ground. "So you two know each other?"
"I don't know that I would say that," I state.
"Oh come on!"
"We do not even know each other's name!"
"What's your name, baby?" He wiggles his eyebrows at me.
I raise an eyebrow. "You are better be glad I do not have a boyfriend." I sigh. "Sofie. My name is Sofie."
"Nicholas, but my friends call me Nico."
"Yo, Nico!" Sonya's boyfriend exclaims and bro hugs Nico.
"Grant, my man!" Nico exclaims.
"What are you guys into? And why are you out here with these guys?" Grant questions.
I shake my head. "I can be social and talk to people other than your girlfriend you know."
He rolls his eyes. "I have never heard you talk to anyone else other than Sonya and your dad."
This time I roll my eyes. "Go kiss your girlfriend."
"I will!" He pretends to stomp off to my apartment and glances back at us. "Have fun. I know I will!"
The door to the apartment opens and Sonya has her arms crossed. "What do you want?" She snaps.
"A kiss."
"Go away." She shuts the door in his face.
"I LIKE YOU!"
"GO AWAY!"
He sits down in front of the door and I turn back to the guys.
"I am hungry. I will you you two later." Nico says and walks off.
The red head gazes at me. "Sofie is a beautiful name for a-."
"Beautiful girl. Yeah, I have heard that before."
He nods. "How long have you been going to college?"
"Two years," I sigh.
"Three for me," he states.
"What is your name?"
"Jasper."
"Nice to meet you Jasper," I smile.
