Prompt- ' The cage that is my heart ' by RyanBH

I hear the flutter of their wings, when I'm alone.

Their cries, echoing the longing, to soar high in the horizons.

I've trapped them in the cage of my mind,

Hiding them from the harsh arrows of reality.

Their golden feathers have now lost their lustre

And I know this captivity is killing them,

Yet I cannot allow them to fly away.

For they belong to me, born within me.

They are my dreams, caged within my mind.
