32. As you fall...

13th September 2016

Prompt from-www.poewar.com,-Write a poem that begins with a line of advice or instruction, such as don’t give up or take a left at the willow tree

"Don't stop smiling, the show must go on

No matter how the thorns prick your tender feet,

Or how the blood trickling down turn the sand crimson.

You must not quit your dazzling performance.

Hold your head high and look them in the eye.

Let them see how you've withstood the pelting stones and hurled insults.

Dance under this starless sky till your feet give away

And do not let that pained sob ecsape through your lips.

Let them drink the poison of their own defeat,

For you've to take them with you when you fall."

This came out as a bit dark.
