Why did all the Disney Channel Cartoons Move to Disney XD?
So this is a question I was asking myself this morning when I woke up, "Why Did All the Disney Channel Cartoons Move to Disney XD?"
This actually still baffles me, but I think now I should talk about it.
But before we get into Disney XD, we got to go back to when it was called Toon Disney.
Back in 1998, Disney Premiered the Toon Disney Channel, which in all fairness was basically the Disney Version of Boomerang.
Yeah basically Disney's Boomerang.
Now Toon Disney had its flaws mostly in the end as they started drifting from the Toon part of the name, besides airing a few Live Action movies and airing Episodes of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, for some reason I don't know why. It was also the only Disney named Channel to air actual Commercials, not just Channel Promos and that one ad saying a brand is a proud sponsor of the channel, for example.
"Best Western," is a Proud Sponsor of Disney Channel.
"The Chrysler Pacifica," is a Proud Sponsor of Disney Channel.
"Depend Adult Diapers," are a Proud Sponsor of Disney Channel.
Okay I made that last one up but you get the jist of what I'm saying.
Toon Disney wasn't perfect like at all.
Then in late 2008 we started seeing ads for something called Disney XD.
Basically it started as the Disney Channel for Tweenage Boys, which at the time of it's launch I was, so you could say the channel was aiming towards 11 year old me in Middle School. It Sort of worked as at the time they were airing very few shows, which is normal for a new channel's launch. Which was the Original Series Aaron Stone, which I dont think anyone remembers, hell I don't remember it at all, abd reruns of old Disney Channel Shows like Even Stevens and Cory in The House.
While over on Disney Channel, they were still living off of Phineas and Ferb, then in 2012, the show that you know I'm obsessed with, Gravity Falls Premiered and the year after that, Wander Over Yonder, a show created by Craig McCracken, best known for Powerpuff Girls, the original not the reboot, never the reboot, and Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends.
It was all normal until 2014 when something other than normal happened. Now until 2014 Disney XD was basically airing whatever they can all a show, sure they had some good Sitcoms Like Kickin' It and Lab Rats, but they also had some lousy excuses for cartoons as The only profitable one they made was Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil, a name that took me 3 years to get why his name is Kick Buttowski, kinda lazy there man.
In 2014 for some reason, and all out of the Blue, Disney XD became the Permanent home for new Episodes of the three Cartoons Disney Channel has, or in this case had, As Phineas and Ferb, which was at least Ending to begin with, Gravity Falls, which was still in the middle of the series, and Wander Over Yonder. Leaving Disney Channel without any new Cartoon until Tangled the Series became a thing last year.
Normally when a Show goes from the Basic Cable Channel to the Channel you have to pay extra for mean the show just been canceled, as we've seen with all those Nickelodeon Shows growing up. But Disney really wasn't like that as those shows went on and continued because it had the Disney Name on it, I wish I had a better excuse for that to make sense.
I think the reason they moved it to Disney XD is to give the channel identity and it worked, course now we know those shows they took are over with Gravity Falls and Phineas and Fern airing Constant repeats during school hours.
But even after that they still made good shows, most of the time, well at least that stupid Pickle and Peanut show is dead now!
Yay!
Now Disney XD has shows like Star vs. The Forces of Evil, and the 2017 Ducktales becoming instant cult followings. As well as Star Wars Rebels. Basically it went from Boomerang Knock Off, to Boys Only, to Being just all the Cult Followings in 2010.
But Disney Channel really doesn't have any cartoons to call their own besides Tangled, the 2013 Mickey Mouse Cartoons, and some shows they bought for cheap from Canada, aka that weird Hotel Transylvania Cartoon and that show involving those ZhuZhu hamsters. I have heard if a 101 Dalmations show coming to Disney Channel this year but in all fairness it makes no sense because, when was the last time you heard anyone ask, "When will they make anything new with the 101 Dalmations?"
I honestly don't know what Disney Channel's Animated Future looks like but in all fairness they seemed a little too preoccupied with the fact they care more for those stupid Live Action Sitcoms they air constantly.
Whatever, if you liked what I just said, leave a vote and a comment down below.
