My 2000's Retrospective: Kim Possible review
Now I decided to go back my childhood for todays journal entry, and today I decided to rematch, not all but some episodes of, a show I watched as a kid of the early 2000's, Kim Possible.
Now I remember being 4-5 years old watching both playhouse Disney and Disney Channel and I would always wait til Friday night to watch a new episode of Kim Possible, well back when Disney Channel still held their cartoons tightly before Disney XD Started Airing them all on the channel, for some reason.
Now this was a about a teenage girl, who's also a cheerleader I might add, named Kim Possible, who helps save the world, who also has a sidekick/best friend/later boyfriend Ron Stoppable. Yes I know the names are play on words but who cares, I liked this show because it has character development, something most cartoons don't have, mainly because most of them piggyback off the Simpsons.
The plot of this show is about Kim trying to balance school life with her career in saving the world from villains such as, and I'll list them, along with voice actors:
•Dr. Drakken- John DiMaggio (Futurama and Adventure Time)
•Shego-Nicole Sullivan (MAD TV and The Penguins of Madagascar)
•Monkey Fist- Tom Kane (Powerpuff Girls)
•Duff Milligan- Brian George (The Big Bang Theory)
•DNAmy- Melissa McCarthy (Yes, the Melissa McCarthy from such films as Tammy, Brides Maids, and Identity Thief.)
And the worst named villains of them all, Señor Senior Senior and Señor Senior Junior who aren't really bad guys, they're just rich and go all fuck it lets just mess with the world. Talk about #RichPeopleProblems am I right?
😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒
Now besides villains there was also some well known, at the time, Disney Channel Stars as cast members, like Christy Romano from Even Stevens aka the show made this guy a thing:
Will Friedle from Boy Meets World, Tahj Mowery, back then from Smart Guy, now on the Show Baby Daddy, and Raven-Symoné from That's So Raven.
This was also Disney Channel's longest running program until a few years ago when Phineas and Ferb bumped them off.
"Hey Ferb I know what we're going to do today, knock Kim Possible off the Top Spot."
Yeah well while both shows had 4 seasons Kim Possible had one more movie than Phineas and Ferb.
That's right this was the only show to have 2 DCOMs, Disney Channel Original Movies for those that don't understand Acronyms.
Those movies were, Kim Possible: A Sitch In Time, and Kim Possible: So The Drama, with the Latter half being the intended series finale, but then boom 4th season a cometh.
Also in the second Movie Ron and Kim became, and couple, with no cute ship name.
Now this is where it gets interesting, the same idea of two character that are different genders who are also Best Friends and end off in a relationship is also used in a very popular cartoon today, which one you ask?
Yep Star and Marco owe their sucess to Kim and Ron. Think about it they re both similar...ish.
Now after the show, The Creators went working on other projects, which one is premiering this year, "Big Hero 6 The Series." and since they did great with Kim Possible, they'll do great with this show.
That's my retrospective, I might do more in the future for other things from the 2000's. Tell me what you think in the comments.
