(Book review- Recovering our Own)

Treat yourself to a good dose of Fantasy this week, and snuggle at the edge of your bed with 'Recovering our own' by Gina VanillaCaramelLatte

The protagonist, Kallan, has been training for her whole life to fight for protecting her people, the Primus, a race which once lived in the present-day America but were forced to flee to a group of islands in the Bermuda Triangle, when Columbus discovered the land mass.

Kallan is one of the few people of her kind bearing the special Primus tattoos and the only ray of hope for her people. The leader of the clan, Raidah, plans to take her to the human world to find her Primus twin. The reason being that when a primus egg hatches, a human is born at the same time and although, a human twin does not possess any powers, he/she is key in discovering what powers its Primus partner would possess. Finding the Primus twin will help determine Kallan's abilities.

One intriguing thing , certainly, is the prologue containing someone else, rather than Kallan where a mysterious egg was mentioned.
What is the egg containing? That happens to still be biggest question, till now. This is a question bugging us all, for sure.

The author does an amazing job helping us have vivid imagery of everything and the descriptions were pretty good.

If I had to choose my favorite character, it would be Raidah, hands down. I like how she's in command and is respected and feared by others.
The author doesn't fail to leave you wanting more bar a few grammatical errors and repetitive phrases.

Some sentences however seemed to be quite clunky. Taking the blurb as an example, it lacked inter-sentence spacing and the same could be said for some paragraphs in the story. Readers are usually discouraged with a book that doesn't use spacing to their advantage.

I would recommend you to read it if you are looking for a refreshing and interesting read!
While we are left in suspense, I would still have to say that the author has written a captivating story and I wish them luck in their future writings.
