16 years old. Russian. Currently living in Italy.
Poetry and art enthusiast. Movie and photography appreciator.

We present to you, our guest for today's #Hangout, live-artistically

Tell us a little about yourself. What do you do besides writing?
Hmm, right now I'm completely immersed in my book and, as my friends and family say, I forget the world around me. However, I have lots of different interests that don't involve reading or writing. I love watching indie movies, taking artsy pictures of my friends and listening to alternative music. I know, I know. I'm so cliché. I'm really bad at sports though and I actually spend half on my day on Youtube or Tumblr.

Which author is your inspiration?
Well, this is an interesting question. I'd say John Green's books really inspire me, although I also deeply admire J.K.Rowling. Her story amazes me and reminds me that the publishing world is hard and challenging, but that doesn't mean we should give up on our books. I'm also a huge fan of Dostoevsky (I'm Russian, so how can I not love him?).

Have you ever tried to emulate their writing style? Hmm, I think it's almost impossible not to try to imitate your favorite authors, especially at the beginning of your writing journey. So yeah, maybe not purpose, but I must have definitely acquired something from their writing styles.

Can you tell us a little about your novel, "Like Hurricanes?"

'Like Hurricanes' is a coming-of-age teen fiction written from a male POV. It's a mix of wild youth and quirkiness, lots of teen angst and heartbreak. I want the readers to feel 'the electricity of adolescence' as well as 'the ecstasy of artistic intoxication'. It's this weird mix of feeling infinite and feeling empty, which I think lots of teenagers are familiar with.

Did you base any of your characters/events on ones in your own life?
I don't think I based my characters on anyone in particular, although maybe it was an unconscious process. I could definitely see some of my personality traits in almost every character, especially Pit and Noemi.

Favorite genre?
My favorite genre is probably YA Contemporary. I love books like Stargirl, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower or The Catcher In The Rye. I think they partially inspired me to write 'Like Hurricanes'. 7.You've hosted a competition before. How was it? Will you be hosting another in the future? Hosting a competition was a very fun experience! There were so many different amazing entries and I learned quite a lot about some countries. I think I would definitely host another one and it might have something to do with disabilities. It would be kind of a campaign/competition.

Favorite movie starring Leonardo Di Caprio? Why? Oh God, that's a very hard question. Leo is so talented, all of his movies are just masterpieces. However, I have a weakness for his early roles and movies that aren't very famous. My absolutely favorites are The Basketball Diaries and Total Eclipse. In the first one, the main character reminds me of Pit and Leo's acting is just amazing. The second one is kind of weird, but Leo plays the role of Arthur Rimbaud and I absolutely love that poet.

What type of poetry do you enjoy writing? Why?
I write poems when I'm bored or when I'm feeling really inspired. I like to write poems that make you feel something, whether it's the epitome of happiness or the epitome of sadness. I think my passion for poetry kind of affects my writing style.

Will you be joining the Wattys this year?
Yes, I've already put the hashtag on Like Hurricanes! This is my first year on Wattpad and I'm quite excited. I don't expect to win, but I think it's always worth a shot. There's nothing to lose anyway, so I thought, hey, why not?
