Author's Note

I always had a taste for paranormal horror fiction stories entwined with elements of mystery thriller. I remember being friendly with rawly brilliant storytellers in my school days and hearing to their mythical horror stories that had ghosts and monsters appearing from the ancient folklores. The only thing I wanted later was to write a paranormal horror story with elements like diverse characters.

The first time I ever heard about Yakshini was in traditional Indian folk tales. Originally Yakshinis are female attendees of Lord Kuber, deity of wealth and riches and King of Alkapuri (A mythical city). They were said to be guardians of hidden treasures. However, there are many mythical tales from Southern part of India, that add more to the general definition of a yakshini. They weren't described as benevolent usually. Many folk tales describe murdered women reborn as revenge-seeking yakshinis.

My first choice for type of antagonist was 'Vetala', an undead creature that's technically living corpse that can be compared to a vampire. But Yakshinis drew my attention. So here I took some creative freedom and changed some minute descriptive details about their appearance.

So I hope the readers would embrace the diverse world-building.
