Beginning with the name of Lord Ganapati,

The one whose name should be taken first.

I bow to Goddess of Knowledge, Devi Saraswati,

To whom I worship before writing and I must.

May the Supreme in the form of Ganapati be the destroyer of obstacles;

May the Eternal Energy flow into my brain with the one embodiment of True education.

I worship my family diety, Goddess Mahakali, the slayer of worst and meanest devils,

May She, the fiercest form of Supreme, give me Her warm support and compassion.

May She destroy all barriers of doubts and let my work be successful.

Oh! My Lord Shiva, giver of boons! May you grant me strength to write.

I pray for knowledge to The Lord who mounts on Nandi, The Divine Bull.

Let me crystallize my imagination into a text, and widen my vision, my sight.
