Chapter 49
Dwarka, Dwapar Yuga
Sri Krishna was lying on a couch in his room. His eyes were closed. If someone saw him in that position, he or she would probably think that he was sleeping. But it was not true. Under those closed, lotus like, deep eyes, he was thinking about the events of last six months.
Six months had been passed after that attack on Jayant Roy, that same cowardice, done by the King of Salwa, by using his Vimana. Devapriya lost her unborn child, and her ability to have one of her own. Jayant's mind was twisting in anger, grief, hatred, vengeance and all of those fuelling Kali inside him. But the soldier of Kali Yuga was not sitting idle. From the last six months, he was taking step, after step towards revenge and....towards his own destruction, as seen by Hastinapur, but only the omniscient one knew....a perfect charade created by him.
"Knowledge is power, and Jayant Roy is using it with his full might." He thought to himself. He was seen regularly visiting the hunter tribes in the jungle, giving them money, and he was even getting drunk with them. Bhishma, Dronacharya, Kripacharya, Vidura and all the elders were worried about him. But no one could see the real truth under the façade, not even Karna or Ashwatthama.
Not even the spies of King Shalva in Hastinapur.
They saw the Kuru Rajkumar was getting drunk with the tribal people, and they reported this news. Shalva was happy to hear this news, thinking about his easy victory. He was thinking himself powerful, with the support of Kichaka and Poundrak Vasudev...though he was not completely wrong. But he did not know that he just woke up a sleeping Rakshasha, who would launch havoc on this land. They also saw the Kuru Rajkumar entering the forest of Khandavprastha in a covered chariot, with a huge amount of wine, and three beautiful women. They thought that the Kuru Rajkumar was fed up with a sick wife and now having fun. They reported that too.
What they didn't know was the three Pishachini sisters were now the members of Jayant's spy network, who were completely loyal to him after his encounter with one of them. They didn't know that the three supernatural beings were now flying towards Salwa kingdom, and with their magical abilities, they would be able to pass each and every details of the king's palace in Maitrikavati city.
Jayant was now meticulously planning each and every step of his revenge, and Kali was helping him, for his own sick, twisted, perverted pleasure and bloodlust. It pained the supreme one to see the man following the path of his own destruction, but he knew that right now, it's futile to try to stop him. He was properly maintaining this façade, by working, drinking, womanizing (?) and planning. The Kuru elders were becoming afraid of him. The Pandavas were thinking five different things about him. Yudhisthir was concerned about him, Arjun was sad, Nakul was thinking that maybe in his unstable state of mind, the elders would see that he was unfit to rule, Sahdeva was thinking about why he send Shakuni abroad, and Bheem...he was thinking that why the smell of animal fat and another kind of foul smell, which is not of wine, comes from his body, when he comes from the jungle.
Only the supreme one knew the mystery of those smells.
Right now he saw Jayant, who was standing in front of the Ganga. In his face, cold, hard determination was painted. He was clad in white clothes. He crossed his hands and walked in the water.....
Only to be find himself standing face to face with Mata Ganga herself!
Jayant was a bit stunned to see her coming out so abruptly, but he managed to mask it quite well. But he was not prepared for the next words from her.
"Putra, I must stop you from doing it!"
Jayant's facial expression changed. At first, his stoic expression changed into a frown of surprise, and then it became angry.
"Do you think you have the power to stop me?"
Mata Ganga was still smiling, probably thinking about the stupidity of the humankind.
"Yes, I have that power. You know very well that only one thing in this whole universe can hold my flow, and you don't have it. "
Realization suppressed the anger in Jayant's face and his expression became a bit softer, but it didn't last. He angrily muttered something, which both Bhagirathi and Sri Krishna could hear. Mata Ganga now started laughing. Her melodic laugh literally had a calming presence in this world, the dark one knew that, and her cries, when her favorite son lied on that bed of arrows.....he forced those thoughts outside his mind. Jayant Roy was shielding them with his diamond hard body and will....manipulating the wheel of fate and time. But fate and time will find the end point, although it will take a different path. The end of this Yuga is coming, and all of them had to play their part.
Jayant was still looking at Bhagirathi, who was now calmed down. Then she looked at him, and in a moment her expression turned serious.
"Anger is really making you a foolish person, Putra. You planned each and every step of yours, but you are thinking about yourself only. Tell me, you know the story of the birth of Bhagwan Kartikeya?"
Jayant looked at her.
"Yes I know it...."
He stopped suddenly; the anger in his face was suppressed by realization. The dark one could literally see the cells in his brain were getting hyperactive, connecting all the odds. He looked at Mata Ganga with a newfound light in his eyes.
"Now you understand Putra, that why I came here to stop you. Not the reason you just told me, but if you did that, all the marine life forms in this river would be destroyed. That amount of energy, even I could not contain it in myself, as you surely aware of it. I couldn't contain it at that time also."
"Oh! Then I have to find some other way. Pranipat Mata."
"Do you know it can also harm you?" Mata Ganga put her right hand in the water and picked something up. Then she held her hand towards him.
Jayant looked at her hand, which had a live crab on it. He smiled at it, bitterly.
"You should be happy....after all the half devta's path will be clear."
Bhagirathi's face lost all amount of happiness. She looked at her with sad eyes. Even Jayant understood that his words deeply hurt her. He tried to speak, but she held her hand, stopping him.
"Go and do penance of Bhumi Devi. If you managed to please her, ask for a suitable place devoid of all life forms. Then after reaching there, think of me, and I will help you. But remember, Putra, while going towards the path of vengeance, one must prepare his own funeral pyre first. May Mahadev always guide you to the right path."
Then she slowly entered into the water, leaving him behind, standing alone.
