Chapter 13

Rajapura, Kalinga Kingdom, Dwapar Yuga

Jayant/ Duryodhana POV (continues)

She was standing in front of me. Her two deep, beautiful black eyes met my eyes, and I felt my heart rate increasing.

I had never felt something like that in my two lives. In my previous life, while I was in the army, I was not that much of a Casanova type like many other buddies of mine. Actually, I had become more reclusive in this matter after a senior officer of my unit caught in a honey trap by the Pakistani agents. He was a good officer, but his only weakness was beautiful women. This one weakness caught him in a trap. But he was a patriot. So he wrote everything to his superior officer and then shot himself with his sidearm in his house!

"What the hell are you thinking, you fool! This is Dwapar Yuga, who is going to honey trap you?" A voice inside my head spoke to me.

I admit, I was probably looking like a damn fool while standing there, looking at an unknown woman. But, then I somehow calmed my mind a little bit, and looked at her again. It was probably a minute passed when we first saw each other, but it felt like the millennium had been passed.

"Pranipat!" her melodic voice entered in my ears.

She was wearing a beautiful blue dress, with gold and diamond jewelleries. There was a golden platter in her hands, containing flowers, sandalwood paste and other equipment for worship.

"Pra...pra...pranipat!" I somehow crossed my hands to her.

"I was listening to your Tandava. It was like a divine bliss. I was hoping that you can continue forever." She smiled at me. That beautiful smile literally sent shivers in my spine.

"I am just a mere devotee of Mahadev. It's his blessings."

She looked at me for a moment then took a small sweet from his platter. She held her beautiful hand to me.

"Here, take this. This is the Prasad of Mahadev. I have finished my worship and heading out. Then I heard your chant and I cannot move away."

I tried to take the sweet from her beautiful hand, but then a little finger of mine touched her skin. I felt like a shock in my hand, which started from there and spread to my whole body in a moment. But I was not alone. She felt that too.

"Have you felt that too?" She asked in a shocked but soft voice.

I could only nod.

"Your finger, it was so hard! It felt like, I was touching a diamond!"

I mentally scolded myself, and willed for my body became normal. Then I held my right hand to her again. She understood my gesture and slightly touched my hand with her soft, flower-petal like fingers.

"It's still hard, but not as before.", Then she giggled to me and turned. I saw her walking away from me. Her figure was so perfect; her skin was so soft, so smooth; her curvy body was so beautiful; the smell coming from her was heavenly; her lips were so soft; her chest and hips were so perfect.

"Damn you Jayant! Damn you to the deepest hell! You just met her, and you started thinking about her body! What happened to you? Do you even remember where are you standing?" I mentally scolded myself. Then I again went in front of Mahadev and bowed to him, silently asking for forgiveness for my deeds.

I heaved a sigh. I really didn't know what was I thinking? Though modern science put the blame on the raging hormones in my body, but still, I was ashamed to myself for having those thoughts about an unknown woman. I slowly walked out of the temple, vowing to myself to tie a tighter leash on my mind and body.

But I knew in my heart, that I wasn't feeling only lust for her. I would understand if I felt that only! Also, when our skin contacted for the first time, I felt something like a shock. Now according to those trashy romantic novels, those things were a sign to find your soul mate. But I didn't believe in those cock and bull stories. I didn't believe that something like 'soul mate' could really exist in real world. But, if someone had ever told me in my previous life that I could come in Dwapar Yuga, then I would personally buy him a ticket to Ranchi.

I started walking towards the opposite side of the city. My conscience was crushing my mind. If there was someone who could listen to me and gave me some opinion! If Sri Krishna was present here, then I would surely go to him and asked for some suggestions. If Maharishi Vyasa was present here, then I would go to him, and spoke my heart.

"Narayana, Narayana!"

I stopped in my way. The sound came from behind me. I slowly turned and saw a man standing there. He was looking young, but his eyes were glowing with experience. He was wearing saffron clothes. There was a Veena in his hand.

I recognised him in a moment. He was none other than the mind-created son of Brahma, the one and only Devarishi Narada.

I came to him and touched his feet. The Rishi touched his right hand on my head.

"My Prabhu sensed your distress, so he ordered me to go to you and help you." He said with a smirk. Then he looked at me,

"But tell me one thing, you think my Prabhu as your greatest enemy. But still you wanted to go to him and asked for his help?"

I looked at him. Devarishi Narada was famous, or sometimes infamous for his sly wit. By using his wit, he saved the Devtas from the Rakshashas a lot of time.

"If my enemy has knowledge, then why not I learn from him? After all, I can triumph over him by using his own knowledge."

Narada Rishi smiled at me, and nodded. He gave me a deerskin. I quickly cleared a small place under the tree and placed the deerskin there. The Rishi sat on it. He was silently fumbling with his Veena. The beautiful melody of his instrument was so soothing, that my turbulent mind calmed a bit.

"Putra, you are ashamed of your thoughts, and you asked forgiveness for that. This one act washed your sin. As for the direction of your thoughts, it is not your fault. Men and women will be attracted to each other; this is the rule of human body. But your thoughts went to that vile direction was the deed of the evil inside you. Each and every moment, you fought with it, just to tame it, to keep it under control. But today, when you first met her, your heart called for her and for a moment your control slipped. Kali inside you was powerful enough to grab a hold of your mind, and you know what happened next. Still, it's your inner humanity that forced Kali to retreat."

I was listening to his words with utmost concentration. He was right! How could I forget about Kali inside me!

I shouldn't get married! I shouldn't tie anyone with this half-cursed life of me!

"Your life is not cursed, Putra. This is the blessings of Mahadev! Have faith on him. Now go to the palace. Your friends are waiting for you."

I touched his feet again then stood up.

"Do not try to tie your feelings in shackles. Free up your mind and your heart. Embrace your feelings with open arms. Remember, that pure love is the willingness to give without any thought of return. Follow your heart."

Then the Rishi vanished.

I took a deep breath, and focused my mind. My mind was sure of one thing.

"I love her!" I thought to myself.

"I don't know who you are, and where you are. But I saw one thing properly, that was the absence of vermillion on your forehead. Now I am going to find you out, and pour out my feelings to you. If you accept me, then fine. But if you don't, that's also fine, because I am not going to apply force on you because with power and force, I can only acquire your body, but not your heart and soul. I can conquer the whole world with power, but I can't conquer your feelings."

I took out my motorcycle again. I had to work quickly. My first destination would be the temple. I will ask each and everyone there. Someone must know something about her. I rode on it, and then I saw something crawling on the ground.

It was a pink coloured snake, which was crossing the road. But while crawling, it stopped in its path. It turned its head towards me. It looked at me for a few seconds then it crawled away. I started the motorcycle, and rode away. But while going, I heard the loud braying sound of a donkey.

My first destination would be the temple!

I directly went to the temple and asked the priest about her.

"Yes, I knew her from her childhood. She is none other than Rajkumari Devapriya, the daughter of Maharaja Chitrangad."
