Armin introduced you to his friends Eren and Mikasa with who he had fled from Shiganshina district after the titan attack. The city was crowded and overfilled with the citizens from Wall Maria, food was rare and so were the possibilities to find a place to sleep. All 4 of you found a nice spot on a hayloft that belonged to a farm where you later found work.

3 years had past since you had stranded in Wall Rose, Armin and the others told you their goal about joining the cadet corps and their wish to see the outside of the walls. You shared the same goal as Armin who wanted to see the world and without the titans this dream would be possible but as long as they remained, your dream would only stay a dream. Therefor you decided to join them and fight against the titans to make your dream to see the world and to find Reiner come true.

You and tons of other volunteers who wanted to join the cadet corps where standing on a large empty field waiting for the instructor Keith Shadis to arrive.

You looked around searching for a familiar face you hope to find under the others, soon the instructor appeared and started to inspect the newbies. He called out a few to introduce themselves and you really hope that he would not call you. His eyes searched for candidates who stood out the most in his opinion and he soon called out several ones who did. You listen every time he let someone introduce themselves but then shock washed over you as you suddenly heard a certain name echoing through your ears, your head turned towards the one who was introducing himself and you freeze. It was Reiner, you were sure it was him, his hair looked the same as they did back then and his face shape made it clear that it was him. You felt a warm feeling in your heart as you fought with your emotions, you finally found him and he seemed to be alright. You hold on to the necklace tightly and smiled in relive, suddenly the loud voice of the instructor brought you back as he was making his way towards you. Your heart started racing in fear that he might call you out, his feet stopped right in front of your line and his eyes looked at you. A loud gobble caught his attention away from you and fell on an auburn haired girl who stuffed a large potato in her mouth.

He stepped in front of her and gave her a death stare that expressed the words he wanted to say "how dare you eat a potato at a time like this" you felt sorry for her but at the same time you were relived that he stepped away from you. Your eyes wandered over to Reiner who was standing in the line to your right, he looked manlier and handsomer, of course he would a lot of time had past since then... you could not wait to step in front of him and tell him who you are if he does not already know by then.

The instructor dismissed you and everyone started to walk towards the barracks where your new quarters were. On the way there you tried to get past the others to get closer to Reiner who was walking quit a bit ahead, Armin noticed you were rushing through the people and he followed you, interest who you were looking for. Reiner was talking to someone who walked next to him, they seemed to know each other quit well. You were only a few steps behind them and were able to listen to a conversation they had.

"Are you still thinking about that girl from the underground city?" the black haired boy next to him asked

"I don't..."

"Then why are you making that face?"

"What face?"

"That face that says 'I wonder if she is ok, I wonder if she is still down there'" Reiner was bad at hiding his emotions since his best friend knew exactly what was going on

"Shut up Berthold! I'm not thinking about her anymore, she is... only just a memory that I will never see again" Berthold turned away knowing that Reiner was just putting on a tuff face for show

"So please, stop talking to me about the past, it has no meaning to me anymore" hearing those words made you stop, your hair fell in your face as you let your head hang down, you knew that a few years past since you last saw him but you never expected this, he already moved on without you.

Armin came running up from behind calling your name

"(First name)! where are you going?" he called as he finally reached you, a small tear run down your cheek but you quickly whipped it away

"Sorry Armin, I was just curious how the quarters looked like" you lifted your head to look at him with a faint smile

"Ahh ok... sorry I was just worried because you took off without saying anything" he scratched his head a little embarrassed

"Thank you for worrying" you smiled a little more real

"Let's get back to the others" he looked at your face and could tell easily that something was bothering you, but out of privacy and respect he kept his mouth shut.

It was dinner time and you inhaled the fresh night air before you wanted to head into the barracks, you noticed on your way the potato eating girl who was still running laps after she dare to eat during the ceremony earlier today... you stopped and walked towards her, she must be exhausted since she was running for hours.

"Hey... I think you can stop now, it's already dark" she inhaled and exhaled fast

"I can't *pants* have to run another *pants* lap" you watched her continuing until another girl walked up to you, she was smaller than you and looked really beautiful, almost goddess like.

"I brought some food, she must he extremely hungry" the blond girl said

"Ahhh... yeah I think she really is" you said a little shaky

"My name is Christa by the way and this is Ymir" she smiled at you lightly and pointed at the person behind her, first you could not figure out if it was a he or a she...

"Nice to meet you, my name is (first name)" potato girl dragged herself towards you and collapsed at your feet

"Food... give me food..." was all she mumbled in between her pants, Christa took out the bread from her pocket and gave it to her, she gobbled it down in 2 bites and all of you looked at her with wide eyes

"More! I need more food!" she grabbed your pants and crawled up your leg

"O-Ok we will get you some food" you said trying to peel her off your leg.

You walked in the canteen supporting Sasha, you walked with Christa and Ymir towards an empty table and sit down

"What can I get you?" you asked

"Meat! I want meat!" she began to drool and you nodded

"I go have a look what they offer here" you started walking towards the kitchen and asked the lady what kind of food they offered, her answer was pretty clear, she gave you 4 plates with bread and some cheese. You took 2 of them since you could not carry more and walked back to the table handing Sasha and Christa the plate before you got Ymir's and your own. On the way you glimpsed over to the table where Reiner was sitting, he seemed to understand himself pretty well with the other cadets. You walked back to the table and due to your starring at Reiner you hit your knee on the edge of the table almost letting your plates fall

"S-Sorry..." you apologized as you sit down and handed Ymir her plate

"What where you daydreaming about?" Christa asked

"N-Nothing" she smiled since your face was flushed lightly.

Soon Eren and a guy called Jean started a fight and you stood up walking towards Mikasa who tried to stop Eren. A small circle build around them and everyone stared at them, Reiner and Berthold soon walked up as well and you noticed him in the corner of your eye as he stood right next to you. Your heart began speeding as you were this close to him for the first time, the thick layer of rocks and soil were in the way back then but this time there was no such a thing. Eren grabbed Jean by his collar as they raised their voices and then Mikasa stepped in pulling Eren back, it did not take long until the instructor entered the room and pushed your shoulder to the side to make way for him, you could not hold your balance and your shoulder collided with Reiner. He looked down at you and apologized

"I'm really sorry, are you alright?" he asked while you slowly looked up to his face, realizing what had happened, you quickly stepped back and your head turned red

"F-Forgive me! It was not my intention to push you!" you apologized lowering your head, he shook his head and gave you a small smile

"No not at all" you listened to his voice that sounded just like him back then just a note manlier, your head raised again and your eyes met. You hope that he would notice who you are, but he probably won't because you changed a lot since you escaped the underground city.

"You are attending the cadet corps as well am I right?" you continued staring at his eyes for a moment and missed your part to reply, you blinked your eyes and snapped out

"S-Sorry, what did you say?" you asked blushing lightly but this time out of shame that you failed to listen to his question...

"I asked if you are attending the cadet corps as well but what a stupid question, you are here that obviously answers it" he smiled while he brushed through his hair hiding his embarrassment.

"My name is Reiner by the way and who are you?" your eyes broke the contact and you looked away, you whispered your own name out that he barely was able to hear it

"It's (first name)".
