Freaking Akward
The door slid open to reveal Ikkaku and Yumichika, wearing their kimono-like outfit with their zampakutos on their hips. I gave them a suspicious look.
"Why are they here?........" I asked slowly, cautiously, and I instinctively, subconsciously reached for where my pocket would have been, and my pocket knife would have been kept. When I realized I had no idea where my knife was, however, I let my shoulders fall. "And where is my pocket knife.........?"
"Oh! That is right here!" Kisuke cheered, holding up my pocket knife with a grin. "And these two are here to escort you to the Soul society! I trust you already know what that is?"
"Yeah." I said, standing and cracking my neck. "thanks again for taking care of me."
He smiled, tossing me my knife. I caught it, though barely, and clipped it to the robe ribbon around my waist.
"Anytime. See you around, Emily-chan."
"Same to you, Kisuke-San." I smiled over my shoulder as I turned, but then stopped. "Yo, where my clothes at?" I asked him, whirling around. He chuckled.
"I wondered when you would ask. Well, Ichigo took them home with him."
"Awe man! You mean I gotta walk around in this?! It's no better than a dress though!" I pouted. He chuckled again. "Oh well," I sighed. "It's better than nothing. We can go now." I said the last part to Ikkaku and Yumichika, who nodded.
"Right, lets go." Yumichika said to Ikkaku. They opened a portal and ushered me through. Though, as I stepped through, I tripped over my own two feet and faceplanted on the other side.
"Owe....." I groaned.
"You okay kid?" Ikkaku asked as he and Yumichika stepped up on either side of me.
"Yeah...." I said, my voice muffled by the floor. "You guys think I could take a nap real quick?"
"Emily Ukitake." Said a deep voice. I lifted my head to see many feet, as long as four table legs.
"Dang." I sighed, pushing myself up. Though I nearly fell again. "Wait! What'd you call me?" I asked quickly. He was at the other end of a long table, all the captains sitting around it and their lieutenants standing behind their captains' seats.
"As you-"
"Hold up!" I said loudly, cutting off old man Yamamoto. "What did you say my last name was?"
"What do you mean?" He asked as most others stared at me in shock, most likely from my cutting off the head captain.
"You said my last name is Ukitake, but that's impossible." I said thoughtfully, crossing my arms.
"Why?" Asked Jushiro Ukitake, his soft black eyes holding a strange mixture of confusion, joy, and sadness as he looked at me.
"Well for one," I began, looking at him. "Ukitake is your name. And another thing, I'm an orphan, hence I have no surname, hence my confusion."
"Orphan?" He asked as everyone, save for the old man, looked from me to him continuously in confusion. "Why do you think you're an orphan?"
"Allow me to learn you a thing." I said, pulling a marker and overly large sketch pad from thin air.....
Don't ask me how.
I quickly drew a stick family, a house, and an orphanage. 'twas a hasty job, so it wasn't very attractive as I held up the notepad.
"No parents," I began, marking out the tallest stick figures, "plus no siblings," I crossed out the second tallest figure, "equals lonely child." I said, circling the last stick figure, which had a frowny face. "Lonely child has no family, as well as no home," I harshly scribbled out the cheerful house, "and is force to live in an orphanage, where no one cares about her and she feels nothing but sadness," I drew an arrow from the only figure to the creepy looking orphanage. "That makes an orphan, and that has basically been my life!" I ended with a grin, tossing up the marker and catching it with a swing of my arm. For some reason, he looked incredibly sad and guilty, and had tears making his eyes shine. "Hey, what's wrong?"
Without a word he stood and ran towards me, hugging me with an incredibly tight grip and burying his face in my hair.
"I'm sorry, Emily! I never meant to hurt you!" He said loudly. I, as well as the other captains and lieutenants, was extremely shocked and confused.
"Uh...... There, there....." I said awkwardly, patting his back as his shoulders shook. "It's alright. Don't be sad."
He hugged me tighter.
"God you're strong for a sick man!" I wheezed, gasping.
"Emily Ukitake, meet your uncle, Jushiro Ukitake," the old man chuckled. My eyes widened.
"Hold up," I said calmly, gently pushing Jushiro away a bit. I sat, still ever so calmly, on the long table. I looked at Jushiro with a very patient expression before looking at the old man with a very similar expression. "Would you mind explaining?"
"Might I say that you're acting very calm considering your situation?" Asked Shunsui. I glanced at him, smirking in amusement.
"You'll find that I'm very good in stressful situations," I said.
