Chapter 8: Three's Company

Chapter 8: Three's Company

All three of them slipped on thick body armor made of kevlar under their shirts, each of them putting on two bandoliers crossed around their shoulders to carry the many gun magazines, grenades, and melee weapons.

Then they loaded their primary assault rifles with customized, extended magazines, each with a hundred bullets, for easy reloading. The men were armed to the bone, carrying various weapons, from close proximity melee weapons, frag grenades, sticky bombs, to high caliber assault rifles.

The group entered Aaron's garage where vans were parked inside, all of them used as an escape vehicle in their previous rampages when they were working together back then. They picked a random van, a grey one, and loaded their stuff inside, loading as fast as they could.

"One last time, boys." Mark spoke up, getting the other two's attention.

"One last showdown with the fucker that screwed us over." Seán replied, a smirk on his face, "We're gonna have some fun with him."

"Alright, men. Let's move." Felix said. The three men hopped into the van to drive to the location to carry out their plan, racing against time before the police could catch up to them.

__________

Loud blaring of sirens emanated in the busy midday streets of Los Angeles as countless police cars zoomed past cars and pedestrians. Everyone stopped in their tracks seeing that the number of responding vehicles were greater compared to any other regular day. Soon after, large black SWAT vans were tailing the policemen.

Some assumed that a high government official was in town, but it was something else. In their communication radios, only one voice was heard, they were only guided by one commissioner,

"Kjellberg, McLoughlin, and Fischbach have been found, they are in the sewers." The man's voice spoke, "Block the exits, ready your weapons. They are armed and dangerous, shoot to kill. They are in a grey van driving in the sewers, 6JNE21995."

"Copy that, commissioner, we're already on our way, all exits have been blocked, the team's going in." A SWAT officer replied, their vehicle driving in front of a barricade made from two similar vans.

"All units at the entrance ready?" The commissioner asked.

"Affirmative, sir." An officer replied. It was then followed by the same reply from all over the city.

The entire city has been placed under lockdown, all police forces has been called to respond to one of the biggest sting operation to ever happen in the history of Los Angeles.

"I repeat, the three perpetrators are armed and dangerous. Approach with caution."

The roars of the engines echoed in the tunnels, with two more following closely behind the lead van, and others proceeding on foot. Beams of light coming from their guns bobbed around in the darkness, their footsteps pressing on the wet and damp floor of the tunnel.

"Their vehicle is driving in the main sewage pipe heading north," he instructed, "North sector, be ready to intercept."

"Copy that, sir, over." The driver replied, steering the van to a tunnel that led to the main sewage system, driving directly toward the criminals' getaway vehicle.

__________

"THE POLICE ARE COMING!" Seán bellowed, one hand on an earpiece and one hand on the tuner listening to the wiretapped radio conversation by the police. "BOTH BEHIND AND UP FRONT!"

"Shit." It was all Mark and Felix could say as they hear the commands and the distorted voices and commands over the radio.

"Felix," Seán looked up at his friend, "They're near."

Felix stopped the van, leapt from his seat and picked up his carbine rifle, cocking it in the process, "Get your guns ready, boys!"

Without any hesitation, Seán and Mark reached for theirs, their fingers trembling upon hearing the police sirens.

"What are we gonna do, Felix?" Mark asked, brushing his thick black hair back with his hand.

"We wait for it." The Swedish man replied firmly, taking a deep breath, hands clutching the grip of his gun tightly looking directly at the bright light shining through the windows of the van.

__________

"We're approaching the target vehicle." The officer replied, broadcasting his words to all of the other responding policemen.

The headlights shone brightly on the grey van which was stopped at the center of the foot deep sewage. Its own headlights were shining back at them. The SWAT team tailing the van has arrived as well, trapping the vehicle between them.

"All units ready?" The commissioner inquired.

"Yes sir." There was a reply.

"I see them inside." A cop said, spotting a man standing inside, waiting at the back door.

The SWAT team leader stepped out of his van and took out a megaphone, "Felix Kjellberg, Seán McLoughlin, Mark Fischbach! We have you surrounded! Come out with your hands up!" He ordered, voice amplified by the device for them to hear.

"FUCK YOU!" Felix's voice came from inside.

"You'll never take us alive!" Seán screamed.

"Don't make us open fire!" He fought back, "There are fifty or maybe a hundred of us out here against the three of you!"

While both parties threw taunts at each other, a different team has been making their way closer to the van, silently treading the waters readying their weapons in case of a brutal firefight. They were crouched down, using the darkness as a way to get closer.

"Let's move, people." Their leader whispered to his team.

"We're innocent!" Mark said, "We were betrayed!"

"Ready your guns, men." The SWAT leader loaded his gun as he reached for the van's side door. "In three, two, ONE!" He slid open the door and the men aimed their rifles.

Only to discover a large speaker and an unconscious Aaron tied to the ceiling, bloodied and bruised, mouth taped shut.

___________

"THEY TOOK THE BAIT!" Seán declared.

"NOW!" Felix yelled and Mark pressed a small detonator in his hand. He pushed the button firmly, and a red light began blinking accompanied by a beep.

__________

Loud beeping came from Aaron's torso, he was awakened by it. He looked down at his chest to see blinking red lights and wires looped around him, it was fastened to his chest with duct tape. His eyes widened upon realizing what it was. His gasp was muffled by the tape.

"RUN!" The leader screamed, pushing back his men. "TAKE COVER!"

Aaron took one last glance at the scampering police officers before he was obliterated by the ensuing explosion.

The loud blast reverberated throughout the sewers and was followed by more, the walls surrounding the police officers blew up. The weakened concrete cracked and caved in, large pieces of rock falling in the path of the police officers and eventually trapping them inside the small space.

__________

Felix Kjellberg

"Police are contained." Seán cleared his throat, putting down the headset and picking up his sniper rifle.

It worked. I told myself, unable to believe that the plan was like clockwork.

"That's one less problem we have to face." Mark exhaled, feeling a wave of relief wash over him.

"Now it's the moment we've been waiting for." I smirked, checking my weapons if all of them had been loaded and ready to shoot down anyone who would get in my way. I led the men and pushed the doors open. I hopped onto the grassy soil that gradually sloped down leading to a small mansion that was guarded by more than a dozen men outside, all of them scattered about, roaming around like guard dogs.

We arrived at Cry's place in the wee hours of the morning and had been waiting for the plan to be set in motion, which was to lure out the city's most powerful armed forces and contain them.

"So that's where our snake of a friend Ryan is hiding." Mark narrowed his eyes as we hid behind a bush.

Seán smirked, "I can imagine the look on his face when he sees us."

"Yeah, it'll be a fucking wonderful reunion." I responded. "It'll be a shame if we burst in and paint the walls with Cry's blood."

It was a hot afternoon, there were no clouds in the sky, and the sun was high up. The sounds of birds flying and the strong breeze came to my ears. It felt soothing, not only because of the sight but because of what was about to unfold.

"With only a few of the cops left on the surface, I'm sure they'll never make it in time when we're done with him." I said, "and neighboring cities take longer to respond."

"We still have to move fast, because once the news of the police being trapped reaches Cry, he'll surely make a run for it." Mark warned.

"Not if we have anything to say about it." Seán boasted, "Headsets on." The Irishman instructed, looping a small earpiece with a small microphone around his ear. We did the same. "Can you hear me? Testing, testing." I heard his voice from the earpiece.

"Loud and clear." Mark gave a thumbs up, his voice also coming from it.

"Go to your places, I'm going to find a good vantage point." He stood and walked back up the sloped hill.

"Copy that, S." I answered, splitting up with Mark making my way to the front gates of the house while Mark went to the back. I approached quietly, crouching behind trees and bushes as I drew nearer.

"Everyone in position?" Mark spoke.

"Yeah. Waiting on S."

"I've found a good spot. I'm gonna start taking out the men at the front yard." Seán's high pitched voice replied, "Ready yourselves, because it's time to lock and load, laddies."
