The Prince and his Butler

The next morning, a telephone call from one of the people working under the Queen arrived at the townhouse. He informed us about the serial attack of Englishmen. They have been knocked out, hung upside down, and have a note stuck onto each of them. The note said: 'This fellow is the child of craziness and laziness. England is the blasphemous country that has taken all, and forced on us, in arrogant way, its rotten culture. Retribution should befall the fools pf the country that hellcat rules.' At the bottom of all those notes a symbol that looked like a sticking out tongue was drawn. And that Queen Victoria wishes for Ciel to investigate.

"We should head to London at once to dispose of Her Majesty's worry." Ciel said.

"Of course, my lord. I will prepare that carriage for London." Sebastian said.

Ciel tuned to me, "It is up to you if you want to come with us or not."

"I'll come. I am about to join you guys in, as you said, 'disposing of Her Majesty's worries', anyway. So I might as well start now." I replied.

Ciel nodded and headed off to the carriage. I followed him to the front door where Sebastian was standing in front of a black carriage. We both got in and we headed off to London.

After a while, we arrived at the scene of incident, where a crowd was already surrounding it. We got off the carriage and walked around to the front of the crowd where Abberline and Arthur Randall stood. Randall were clenching his fist, almost ripping the paper in his hand.

Ciel took a peak at the document Abberline was holding, "So all the victims had just came home from India, then?"

"Ciel!?"Abberline jumped slightly not realizing when Ciel got there.

"No one seemed to have died yet." Ciel then walked to where Arthur Randal was and snatched the paper out of his hand. "'The child of craziness and laziness'... He does have a way with words. I agree that our country would be rather improved if all these nouveaux riches fresh back from India disappeared. Still this mark..." He paused studying the mark of the tongue.

Arthur Randall snatched the paper back out of Ciel's hand, "He is mocking the Queen and all Englishmen! He must be Indian!"

"Ah, so that's why I was called in?" Ciel said. Abberline and Randall looked confused at his words. He continued, "Most of the Indians who have come here illegally hole up in the criminal neighborhoods of the East End. The Yard still haven't learned their exact number or their route, has it?"

Randall scolded at his comment.

"I can't allow Her Majesty to continue suffering such indignity. Let's go." Ciel said as he walked away. We  took the carriage and as we got to the East End of London, the appearance and atmosphere of the place change obviously. The buildings were more run down and the people looked more shabby.

"I believe the Indian use this area as their base." Sebastian said to us two as he helped me and Ciel off the carriage.

"Yes." Ciel simply said. As we walked further, I spotted a group of Indians in filthy and ripped clothing luring around a bit in front of us. I slowed down and lingered behind a bit because I knew what was going to happen.

One of the Indians purposefully walked into Ciel, "That hurt! That hurt! I've cracked a rib! I am done for! I might die!" He hugged onto himself as he pretended to be in great pain.

Another one of the Indian immediately came over and said, "That's awful! He needs to compensate you for that!"

The Indian that 'had a broken rib' smirked, "Leave us everything you have."

Sebastian surveyed our surroundings and cracked his knuckles, "We've been caught by very cliched thugs. What shall we do, young master?"

Ciel sighed, "Hurry up and get rid of them."

"Certainly." Sebastian said as he pulled onto his black glove.

As soon as the Indian thugs heard that, one of them, the leader I presumed, grabbed hold of Ciel's collar and shouted in his face, "Everybody in this place hates you British!" He then showed the knife that was in his hand all along.

Sebastian immediately pushed the Indian onto the floor to protect Ciel from getting hurt, "Are you hurt?"

"No." Ciel replied calmly as he adjusted his tophat.

"You little bastard!" The leader of the Indians got up and held up his knife, "You drag us here and then you toss us away like rubbish!"

Another Indian with a funny hat agreed angrily, "You people trampled your filth all over our homeland!" The Indians spoke quite good English, I thought, except their little Indian accents.

The leader continued, "Now you find out how humiliating it is being looted!" He raised his knife, and just when he was about to attempt to stab Ciel, a voice interrupted.

"Wait." Ah, here comes the grand entrance of Prince Soma, and his khansama, Agni. The group of Indians all stared at them and the leader had halted his knife in midair. I have always been wondering why on earth would you stop killing someone if a random passerby told you to stop, but I guess it isn't the time to ask now.

"I am looking for someone." Soma held up a terrible hand-drawn picture of a woman, "Have you seen an Indian who looks like this?" And I have always wondered why on earth would you ask people who are in the middle of a fight for whether they have seen someone, but I guess is not the time to ask either.

As the duo approached the group, the leader shouted to them, "Who the hell are you? Stay out of this!"

However Prince Soma just continued walking towards us as if nothing was said, "Are you dueling?" he tilted his head when he saw me, Ciel and Sebastian, "They have a khansama with them... Are you English noblemen?"

"What if I am?" Ciel said challengingly.

"Then I will side with my countryman. Agni, Defeat them." He ordered.

"Jo ajna." Agni said as he unwrapped the bandage on his right hand, "I shall brandish the right hand the heavens bestowed on me for my master."

In a swift movement Agni jumped forward and jabbed his right hand at Sebastian and Ciel. Sebastian grabbed Ciel and jumped back while blocking Agni's attack. As the fight proceeded on Agni attempted to paralyze Sebastian, but of course, to no avail.

Agni jumped back and steadied his position, "I have hit your vital points over and over. A normal person's arm would have gone numb. Why can you still move?" Unfortunate for Agni, Sebastian is not a 'normal person'.

"We were just walking down the street!" Ciel said, clearly annoyed, "Are Indians savages who will attack any Englishman that wonders by?"

"What?" Soma was shocked after hearing what Ciel said. He looked behind him to ask, "Did you fellows attack Shorty here for no reason?"

The Indians looked away, as if they were trying to hide something.

Soma crossed his arm and frowned, "That's no good. My countrymen are in the wrong this time. Agni, side with the kid."

"At once." No long after Agni said that, there was a pile of Indians on the floor, unconscious. "I've finished, Prince Soma."

"Good." Soma picked up Ciel's tophat which was on the floor, "Well then. I am looking for someone, so I will be on my way." He threw the tophat to Ciel and walked away with Agni.

"Who were they?" Ciel asked as he adjusted his tophat and clothes.

"They were sure an odd duo. Are you hurt anywhere, young master?" Sebastian asked.

"No, I'm fine. Let's go back, I do not wish to stay here any longer." Ciel said.

"That sounds like a good idea to me." I said.

"Yes, my lord, milady" Sebastian said.

By the time we got back to the townhouse, it was dark already.

"That was a waste of energy." Ciel said sighing.

"One of those Indians might be the criminal. Let's wait for Sir Arthur to contact us." Sebastian said as he helped Ciel getting his coat off.

The servants came to welcome us home. But suddenly, the door of the town house opened.

"My lord, you are really here!" Lau said walking in.

"You are just dropping in unannounced? How often have I told you to at least send me a note before you visit?" Ciel said to him.

Lau laughed, "Ah, I vaguely remember that."

Sebastian just smiled, "As we have a guest, why don't I serve tea?"

Ciel sighed, "Might as well."

"I would rather have chai than English tea." A voice said.

We all looked over to the owner of the voice standing in the doorway. It belonged to Prince Soma. Agni was standing right behind him.

"Wha...what!?" Ciel was lost for word.

"Oh," Lau started saying, "I met them on a street corner. They said they wanted to see you."

"What are you doing here!?" Ciel asked the two.

"Why, we are acquaintances now. Have you forgotten?" Soma said while Agni closed the door behind him.

"Acquaintances?" Ciel inquired.

"And I saved you too." Soma said, continuing to walk into the townhouse freely.

"Saved? Excuse me!?" Ciel said, clearly shocked at their behaviour.

"In India, it is the common practice to invite your saviour home and entertain him. Is it the British way to kick one's saviour into the cold?" Soma continued, unashamed.

I looked over at Lau. He stood their with that innocent yet mischievous smile on his face. He knew this was going to happen and annoy the earl didn't he?

We followed Prince Soma and Agni. It turned out they had selected a nice room for themselves and were settling in.

Ciel pushed open the door to their room with rage, "Just who are you, anyway?"

"Me?" Soma said with a slight smirk, "I am a prince."

"Prince?" Sebastian inquired.

Agni started introducing his master to us, "This is the 26th children of the King of Bengal, Prince Soma Asman Kadar."

"Thanks for hosting me here, shorty." Soma said to Ciel. I was surprised at the fact that Ciel didn't shout at him for calling him that.

"Wow, you are a prince!?" Finny said peaking through the doorway.

"A-A prince!" Mey-rin marvelled and blushed. I'm starting to think that Mey-rin is actually the biggest slut in the series.

"I've never seen a prince up close before!" Bard said. I smiled, remembering that I am actually friends with an African prince in my world.

"You may approch." Soma said as if he was the master of the house. All the servants ran up to him and started asking questions as Soma happily bathed in the attention from the three.

Lau caught up with us, "So you bought the other servants with you this time?"

"Yes." Sebastian answered, "Our guard dog is watching the manor." He said referring to our demon hound Pluto.

"Ah, that should be alright then." Lau said. Did he know what Pluto was? I swear he somehow knows everything. Ah, that reminds me, I need to have a chat with Lau later.

"Sebastian, don't let them out of your sight." Ciel commanded quietly.

"Very good, my lord." Sebastian obeyed.

Ciel continued, "Let him stay in this room. Allocate another room for his butler. Provide any necessities they need. Let them do what they want as long as it is not out of hand."

"Yes, my lord. I will also prepare evening meal for our guests"

"Good. I will go to my study now to continue with my work." With that, Ciel was off to his study.

Sebastian turned to me, "Milady, please rest before dinner is severed. It has been a tiring journey." I nodded. He then asked Lau, "Mr Lau, would you like me to lead you to a guest room?"

"Oh, no, it's fine. I have stayed here many time before. I can go to my usual guest room by myself. You hurry to your duty, butler."

"Well then, please excuse me Mr Lau, and milady." With that, Sebastian hurried the servants to the kitchen and walked off to show Agni his room.

Now it was only me and Lau left in the corridor, it was my chance to speak to him.

"Hello, Lau. I haven't properly greeted you yet, have I?"

"Nor has I with all that just happened. Hello, lady. Let's go to the living room, instead of standing in the midst of a corridor, shall we?"

"Of course." I smiled.

We went to the living room of Ciel's townhouse and sat down on sofas.

"So, how has working for the little earl been lately." Lau asked once we sat down.

"In the recent Watchdog case of girls disappearing, I didn't really help much. I was one of the victims after all. I got kidnapped and had to be rescued." I said with a laugh.

"Ah, of course, I heard about that. It happened after the Queen's Winter ball, didn't it?"

"Yes, it did. Not my first time being kidnapped tho. I got kidnapped by the Viscount of Druitt last time."

"Oh you did? I see you are experiences with this kind of things." Lau joked.

I laughed, "Yea I guessed you could say that." I paused. "How is Madame Red?"

"She is doing well in my trading company. Thought unfortunately for her, she might not be able to climb the ladder of position in the trading company due to her being a woman. In China, women are still regarded less capable than men nowadays."

"Aw, that's sad. Anything you could do about it to help her?"

"Well, I have connections in the Imperial Court of China, so I tried to persuade her to be a royal concubine. But she absolutely refused to do it when I suggested it to her." Lau said.

"Concubine of the Chinese Emperor!? Isn't that like telling Madame Red to go die? I mean, from what I know, the imperial harem of China is a really dark place with concubines being poisoned everyday!" I said, surprised at Lau's suggestion.

"I am sure being Madame Red, she'd be fine. I heard that the Emperor has taken a liking to western women lately. Madame Red will surely gain the Emperor's favor and rise in power quickly. With the Emperor's protection, she'd be just fine. One thing is just that she'd have to have a translator with her quite a lot of time, even though she has been learning Chinese really fast."

"You talk as if you are really determined for this to happen. Why?' I asked.

"For her own sake. Madame Red is used to being a noblewoman, but now she is living a simple life. So I guessed that going into the Imperial Court would be the fastest way for her to regain that lifestyle."

I narrowed my eyes, "Is that really the reason why you're so determined?"

"Well," Lau laughed, "You are sharp aren't you? True, I do want to have some more connection in the Imperial Court of China, especially have someone close to the Emperor. It would make getting trading permission a lot easier."

I smiled, "I knew you had some other reason to do this. Well, this doesn't sound like too bad of an idea to me, though I am concerned about Madame Red's safety. I don't want to have saved someone just to have her be killed a few months later."

"Don't worry, I will do everything in my power to protect her from harm if this plan ever proceeds. But at the moment, it is highly unlikely since Madame Red is refusing to cooperate."

"It is the Qing dynasty in China now, isn't it? Who is the Emperor at the moment?" I asked.

"Guangxu Emperor is ruling the country at the moment." He answered.

"Oh, cool. Or you could just get her to go to Hong Kong. Hong Kong is part of the British colony at the moment isn't it?"

"Yes, yes it is. But I can't do that as Chinese Imperial Court have just tighten the criteria for trading with Hong Kong."

"Oh, lol.. I mean ha. Oh, there is one thing that I want to tell Madame Red. Is it alright if you tell her for me?"

"Sure, no problem."

"Can you please tell her about how I am about to become a baroness... and the title was previously her's."

"Oh you are? Of course."

"I kind of feel a bit bad for it, just taking her title afer people presumed her dead."

"No, no, don't feel like that. you saved her life after all."

"I suppose that's true." I said nodding.

"Well, I will call someone form my company to pass a letter to her containing what you want to tell her then. I should do it now, since I have something to tell the current manager of my company anyway. Would you like me to escort you back to your room?"

"No, I'm fine by myself, thanks. You go make that phone call."

"Alright. I will see you in dinner in a minute." Lau said and went away.

I was left alone in the living room. I went back to my room passing what I presumed was Lau's room as I heard him making a call in there. I picked up a book on my room's table and started reading at where I left off.

The next morning, I was woken up by some ruckus going on inside the townhouse. I rang the servant bell and Mey-rin came to knock on my room not long after.

"Milady, have you awoken? Would you like me to help you get ready for the day." She asked after knocking.

"Yes, Mey-rin. Come in." I said groggily.

She came in and helped me got ready for the day. I slipped on a blue dress and went outside.

Turned out Soma was stubbornly annoying Ciel, wanting him to show him around town, while Sebastian was politely declining Soma's 'invitation' for Ciel.

"What's going on this early in the morning?" I asked as I approached them.

"I just want Ciel to show me around town!" Soma said fake crying.

"I'm sure, being an earl and an owner of a successful company, his schedule would surely be full." I said.

"Precisely. That's why I want them to stop following me around, I am busy!" Ciel said grumpily.

"Ah, don't be like that!" Soma pouted, "Can't you even spare the tiniest portion of time?"

"No." Ciel responded, "If I were to show you around town, it would at least take up half a day. I do not have half a day to mess around with you." He then walked off with Sebastian into a room.

"Aw, that shorty sure isn't in a good mood today!" Soma complained out loud.

Agni quickly went to his mater's side, "My Prince! Please do not get upset over this. Kali is still watching over you!"

I smiled, "Oh, trust me, Ciel is always like that."

"Really?" Soma looked at me, "Why? He is only a child! He should be laughing and running around, not burying his head into a pile of work."

"Well, I would not be in a good mood if two random strangers just barge into my house and stay." I said, not knowing if Ciel ant his life story to be known.

"I am his saviour though!" Soma said.

Agni agreed immediately, "Yes, my prince. Saviour should be honoured by the person he saved."

I sighed. They are too full of themselves, or just Soma. He didn't even save Ciel. Agni was the on that did all the work, but Soma talked as of he did it all by himself.

Afterward, I went to the dinning room. Lau was there eating breakfast already. Mey-rin served me my breakfast. It was Sebastian's cooking and, as always, it was amazing.

When me and Lau was leaving the dining room, we saw Agni pulling a massive statue along the corridor with Soma overseeing him.

"What are you doing with that big statue?" I asked.

"This is the Goddess of power, Kali. I have just bought her to bring some luck into this house." Soma said.

"Were did you even get that?" I said.

"Had it delivered from a nearby woodwork company." Soma said as if he was really proud of himself fro thinking up that 'great' idea.

I just sighed and followed them to see what they were up to.

They pulled it to the big room where Ciel was being tutored about violin by tutor Sebastian, and they started worshiping by chanting a strange chant and bowing down to the statue.

"What is that?" Ciel put down his violin and walked towards the praying two.

"They seem to be praying, but it it quite a surreal idol, isn't it?" Lau said looking up at the statue... with his eyes closed?

Sebastian stopped before the idol, "To me it merely looks like the statue of a woman carrying a severed head, wearing a necklace of severed heads, and dancing madly on top of  a mans stomach." oh Sebastian, you are to literal.

Agni started explaining who Kali is to the rest, and told the whole back story. As he was finishing off, he knelled before the statue and closed his eyes, "Kali is a great goddess who defeated the demon after a desperate battle. As proof, she carries the demon's head." He said referring to the severed head in the statue woman's hand.

I looked over at Sebastian, he seemed to be quite intrigued by the story.

"There you have it," Ciel said mockingly to Sebastian.

"Hmm, I wasn't aware of anyone so strong. I will have to take care if I travel to India." He whispered holding his chin. I almost laughed out loud hearing this mini conversation.

Afterward Ciel was learning fencing and Sebastian had a fencing match with Agni and they drew and all that jazz.

I heard Ciel asking about Agni, "Sebastain, who is that man? Don't tell me he is another.." He trailed off, referring to Shinigami Grell. Oh how I miss Grell already.

"No, he is a human." Sebastian replied.

"I see... But with that much power.." Ciel narrowed his eyes glancing at Agni.

"Yes. He could easily hang men up-side down." Sebastian finished his sentence.

Ohh, they finally have suspicions about Agni.

At around 7, Mey-rin came to get me for dinner, "Mi..milady, it is dinner time, yes."

"Alright, Mey-rin." I responded and put down the book I was reading. I went down to the dinning room and most of the people were already sat at the table. I sat down on an empty space to the right of Ciel. Opposite me was Lau, and at the other end of the table was Prince Soma, with Agni standing behind him.

Sebastian came in with a cart of food, "Good evening, for dinner we have the traditional Sunday Roast with lamb joint." He cut and served the meat, vegetable, potato and Yorkshire pudding to everyone. Then he went around pouring the amount of gravy each person would like onto their meet.

We started eating when I saw Prince Soma dropping some meat off his fork.

"Prince Soma, still not accustomed to using knife and fork?" I said.

"No. In India we use our hands, easy and simple." He said casually.

"How long do you people intend to stay here?" Ciel asked.

"We will leave when our business is finished." Soma replied.

Lau spoke up, "Come to think of it, you said you were searching for someone, right?"

"And why are you staying here too?" Ciel inquired Lau.

"An interesting question." Lau evaded the question. Ciel didn't press on either.

"I'm looking for a woman." Soma said as he got out a rough drawing of... a woman? "Her name is Mina. She was a servant at my palace."

"Sebastian, does that give you enough to find her?" Ciel asked boredly.

Sebastian looked at the horrendously drawn picture, "Even I can't do much with this... I will try my best."

"And? What is she doing in England?" Ciel asked.

Prince Soma then explaining the story of Mina and how she got  'kidnapped' by a British noblemen.

"In other words, you came here to get this woman back?" Ciel concluded.

"Yes. I will get her back and bring her home with me, no matter what!" Soma said with clear determination in his voice.

"That is a lot of fuss over one servant." Ciel said as he cut his meat.

"No, it's not!" Soma stood up abruptly. He ran over to the other side of the table and grabbed Ciel by the arms angrily, "Can you even comprehend my despair at being separated from her!? Can you imagine how much I-"

"No I can't." Ciel stated. Soma was taken aback. Ciel continued, "The kind of trifling despair something like that could inspire? I cannot understand it, and I don't care to." Ciel slapped Soma's hand off. He walked off to the door of the dinning room. "Some things no amount of struggle will get back. And some despair can't ever be escaped. Maybe you can't understand that though." With that, Ciel left the dinning room.

Soma had teary eyes, "But... but still, i don't want this! I don't want to be alone in that palace!"

Well, this just got awkward.

"Prince Soma, I think you stepped over the line there." I said to him.

"Me?" He whispered looking down.

"Yes, you don't know his life story. You don't know what he has experienced, and what shaped him. You can't just go shouting in everyoe's face just because you have your own problems. No on is oblique to help you." I said hoping he'd understand. He was being too immature.

He covered his face and ran out of the dinning room. Naturally, Agni chased after him. That leaves me and Lau alone again.

"Are you sure you weren't too harsh on him?" Lau asked me.

"No, he really needs to understand that though he might be a prince, not everything is about him. He needs to grow up."

We finished our meal quickly and left the dinning room for the servants to clean up.

I walked pass Prince Soma's room in which I saw Ciel just went in. The door wasn't fully closed so I stood outside listening to their conversation.

"Even you must know how to play Old Maid." Ciel said and I heard a chair being moved.

The sound of shuffling cards came out of the room, "I am finished for today. I will play with you until bed time."

"Ciel.." Soma said quietly.

"It is not to make you happy. I am just keeping you company because I am bored." Ciel said. Oh no, I knew what was coming...

"Sorry, but i have other plans." That Soma suddenly refused Ciel's offer.

"Eh?"

"Unlike you, I am a busy man. Agni, we are going out." Soma got up from his chair.

"Yes, my prince." Agni said. I heard them coming near the door so I pretended to be just walking pass. i waited around the corner until they had gone. Then I returned to the outside of that room just to see Ciel, frozen (Let it go, let it go!) on the spot, staring into space out of shock. I felt really bad for him.

"What are you doing?" Lau suddenly said form behind me.

"Oh! Lau, don't scare me like that!" I then nodded my head to wards where Ciel was sitting. Lau look over there and whispered, "What is the little earl doing just sitting there?"

I shrugged and gestured for him to go in first. He pushed open the door, "Hello, my lord.."

"What!?" He was cut off by an angry earl.

I walked into the room , "Ciel, I heard what happened, just... let it go. (Frozen 2 is coming out)"

Ciel took the deepest breath ever to calm himself down. If I was him I would be really angry too.

"I see you want to play some card games. We'll play some with you, won't we, Lau?" I said.

"Oh.. yes, of course we will."

"Yep, let's go somewhere else." I suggested.

We went down to the living room and sat down around the table. I grabbed the deck of cards, "Do you guys know about the game 'Big Two'? Or in mandarin, it is called 'Da Lao Er'. It's a popular card game in China, do you know about it Lau?"

"No, I have never heard of it. In fact, I don't think many people in China knows about card games."

"Oh." Damn, has it not been invented yet? "Oh, well. I can teach you how to play it. It's really easy." I spend the whole time teaching them how to play Big Two. by the end they were really good at it, so good that sometimes they even beat me at my own game. Wait... does that mean I invented this game in this world?

We heard the front door open and close, and footsteps going upstairs.

"So they are back." Ciel said.

"I have to say those two are very suspicious." Lau said as he put a pair of aces onto the table.

"Well, yes, but I don't see how they would benefit from those crimes. They don't seem to bear much of a grudge over colonial rule." Ciel deducted, "And if they are doing it, would they waltz right by me on their way to commit the crimes? It is like begging me to suspect them."

"True. Then maybe they really are just looking for someone?"

"It is still too soon to say." Ciel said.

Suddenly Sebastian jumped in from the window, "Agni is on the move, young master."

"Alright. Let's follow him." Ciel stood up and said.

"Take me with you!" Suddenly Soma came into the room. "I have known all along that Agni was going out after I went to bed. I want to know what he is doing!"

"Alright then, let's go." Ciel said.
