The Blind Clairvoyant

I walked out of Undertaker's funeral parlor and went back to the ice sculpture contest site. All of the contesters were almost finished with their ice sculptures. I walked to Ciel's side. He noticed and he looked to see who it was. When he realized it was me, he nodded to me in acknowledgement. I smiled and nodded back.

Suddenly there was a very high pitch squeal, follow by a tackling hug into Ciel.

"Ciel!!!" Lizzy screamed while squeezing the life out of Ciel, "I missed you!"

"Lizzy!? What are you doing here?" Ciel asked while trying to peal Lizzy off him.

"Enjoying the Frost Fair obviously!" Lizzy said joyfully, "I also want to get you a birthday present! It is going to be your birthday soon! We need to celebrate, with a ball!"

"No, Lizzy! Not a ball in my manor again. My birthday is in a month and a half, why are you getting a present this early?"

"I just thought that this would be a perfect chance to look for a birthday present!"

"You don't need to get me a birthday present."

"Yes I do! Birthday is an important occasion for everyone!" Lizzy said stubbornly.

I saw A slight hint of sadness in Ciel's expression as he remembered what happened on his birthday three years ago.

"Instead of taking about something so far away, let's talk about something that's gonna happen this evening. There will be a Winter Ball at the Crystal Palace, are you going to attend?" I said changing the subject.

"I have heard of that. Though I am not so sure about the idea of dancing." Ciel said.

"A ball? Sounds fun! Ciel, let go together! It's going to be really fun!" Lizzy begged Ciel.

"Ah, fine. I will attend the ball with you, Lizzy." Lizzy looked overjoyed. "What about you, are you going to the ball?" Ciel turned to ask me.

"Yes, I am. That's why I brought up the subject."

"Do you have somebody to attend with?"

"Yea... I'll actually be going with Undertaker." I said, a bit embarrassed.

"The Undertaker?" Ciel said raising his eyebrows, "I was not previously aware that there is something going on between the two of you."

"No, it's nothing like that! We are just....really good friends. And I've known him for the longest out of you guys after all."

Before Ciel could say anything, a loud voice boomed over the crowd, "We will now begin the judging!"

There was the Scotland Yard team with their sculpture of Arthur Randall, which they were saluting to. It did not get a very high mark. Next was Lau with his team name 'All China Dresses Should Be Minis'. He made a sculpture of naked Ran-Mao but it was disqualified due to 'various reasons'. Next up was Sebastian, team named 'Queen's Puppy'. Lol I'm surprised that Ciel allowed Sebastian to use this name. Sebastian made an incredible sculpture of the Noah's Ark with all sort of animals inside it. Every one was marveled by the grand scale ice sculpture.

The judge with the big nose said to Sebastian, "Bravo, young man! I mark you as a skilled ice sculptor."

"No, sir. I am merely one hell of a butler."

Suddenly someone shouted. It was the bombers group trying to take the ring with the Hope Piece. The leader shouted, "Sorry, but his ring belongs to us. We are taking it back." He then showed the bombs that were strapped around his body. He got a lighter out, "I will count down from ten. if you don't want to die, get the hell out of here! Ten!"

Everyone else but me, Ciel, and Sebastian started running away in a chaos. Abberline was helping everyone get away.

"Nine!"

"Young master." Sebastian warned.

"My orders remain the same. Do it, Sebastian." Ciel said calmly.

"Eight!"

"Yes, my lord." Sebastian bowed slightly.

When Abberline saw that we weren't running, he shouted, "What are you waiting for!? Hurry up and run!"

"Seven!"

"You can run if you want to. Forget about me." Ciel said.

"Six!"

"I can't do that! I joined the police to protect the citizens! To protect everyone!" Abberline then started running towards us.

"Five!"

"Fool." I heard Ciel whispering, but he was smiling.

"Four!"

The guy counting down shot at the ground just in front of Abberline, "Stay away." He turned his gun towards us, "Only three left. You sure you don't want to run?"

"There is no need. Because, you see..." As Ciel spoke Sebastian jumped over the bomber guy and snatched his gun out of his hand. The two other bombers shot at Sebastian but he dodged it all with ease. He than ice-skated to where the two were and knocked them out.

"You bloody little...!" The leader bomber said frustratingly. He then got a dynamite out.

"Okay... I'm getting out for this part." I said to Ciel. I walked away gracefully waving to the leader bomber. He glared at me and he lit a bomb and threw it at Ciel who was closest to him, "Get blown to smithereens!"

Sebastian literately 'swept Ciel off his feet' and hold Ciel over his head as if he was his ice-skating partner. The bomb exploded and blew a hole at where Ciel used to stand.

I got off the river onto the pavement. I went and stood where Lau and Abberline were.

Sebastian skated around the bombers while the leader attempted to blow Sebastian up. However, he only created a death trap for himself and the other two bombers. Because of the holes he blew around him on the ice, it was not strong enough to support them and the statue, so it cracked.

Suddenly Sebastian tossed Ciel into the air. the ice under their feet collapsed causing the bombers to fall into the freezing cold water along with the statue of the Queen and the Hope Piece. Luckily, the markets stalls at the Frost Fair nearby was unaffected.

Everyone gasped. Ciel and Sebastian was standing the ice Noah's Ark.

One of the bombers swam towards us. Abberline helped the bomber onto ground and the bomber was taken into custody by some officers from Scotland Yard. Abberline then stood up. I heard that he whispered, "Just who are you, Ciel?"

"Do you really want to know?" I said to Abberline.

He just looked at me with questioning face.

"Let me give you a hint. You are asking the wrong question. You should ask who is that butler clad in black, not who Ciel is."

"What do you mean?"

I shrugged, "That's all I'm gonna say. Or work your way up Scotland Yard and become the commissioner of Scotland Yard, then you might know."

Abberline just looked down, deep in thought. I took this chance to go to where Ciel and Sebastian ashore. Sebastian helped Ciel to get onto the pavement.

"That was quite a grand show you put on." I said as I approached them.

Ciel just sighed while Sebastian smiled at me.

"Oh," I suddenly remembered, "Remember the bet that I won?" Ciel nodded. "Well, I still haven't said what I want for winning. But now I know what I want. I want the fake Funtom toy ship that the merchant was selling."

"What would you want that for? It is not worth a thing." Ciel said.

"Just, please. Will you come with me to ask the merchant?" I pleaded.

"Fine."

We walked to that market stall, and thankfully, the merchant happened to be there packing stuff away.

"Oh, Lord Phantomhive!? W-what brings you here again?" The merchant asked timidly.

"It is not my idea to come here this time." Ciel said.

"It's mine. You know the FAKE Funtom toy ship that you were selling?" I emphasized on the word fake.

"Y-yes, lady."

"Well, can I have it?"

He was clearly not expecting that, "May I ask why, lady?'

"No, you may not." I said harshly.

"But... but...." He was lost for words.

Ciel has had enough of this, "Just give her the damn ship! Do you want everyone one in London to know by tomorrow that your shop sells blatant fake merchandise?"

"No, my lord! H-here it is." He got the ship out from a bag and handed it to me.

"Thank you."

We went to our carriage. Ciel glanced at me holding the toy ship, "Why do you even want this useless thing?"

"I don't know, I just feel like it." Suddenly a shop caught my eyes. "Wait, Ciel, can you stop the carriage for a second?"

Ciel tapped the roof of the carriage with his cane signaling for Sebastian to stop it. I jumped out of the carriage and walked to the shop that caught my eyes. The front of the shop was mostly painted white. A single wooden door was positioned at the middle, also painted pure white. Two large windows were on either side of the door. Behind the glass panes there was some mannequins wearing flowing costumes. Dreamy decoration was also presented. It was totally Winter themed, and that was why it caught my eyes. I needed stuff for the Winter ball tonight. Behind the mannequins, cream curtains draped from the ceiling to the floor preventing people form seeing further into the shop. The whole shop gave off a mystical feeling and it contrasted vastly from the buildings beside it, which was generally dark-colored. The signboard of the shop said 'The Oracle'.

I pushed the door and a bell rang. The first thing I noticed was that it was really bright inside. When my eyes finally adjusted to the brightness I could see an old lady sitting at the very back of the shop. She was wearing a white cloak and the shadow of the cloak hood hid her eyes from me. In front of her was a crystal ball. The table it was on had a table cloth with some sort of odd pattern on it. There was an empty chair at the opposite side of the table.

"Welcome, welcome. I have been expecting you." The old lady said with a hoarse voice.

"Expecting me? What do you mean?" I asked, slightly confused.

"Yes, through my shew stone, or crystal ball as you would call it, I see that the destined one would come through that door at this exact moment."

"You see things through you crystal ball? Are you a clairvoyant or something?" I asked thinking that she was only another creepy old women that lurks around in their own territory scaring people.

"Indeed, my child. I have been gifted with the ability of clairvoyance."

"Okay...?" I did not believe her so I just went on and looked around the shop. I found a red and white gown that had a trancendent feeling to it. "How much is this?"

"Oh, my child, you can have it for free."

"You must joking. I can't possibly take you thing without paying."

"Ah, you don't know how much happiness fills my heat when I see a destined one. I just can't help myself to be kind to them."

"You keep going on about 'destined one'. What is it?"

"A destined one is chosen by the one to do great things. You will come to understand in no time."

I sighed, thinking that it was no use trying to understand things that comes out of her mouth. I would feel bad for taking too much freely so I only took the gown and some make up product to look nice. I gave it to her and she packed it all in a bag.

"Thank you so much. But, are you sure about this? I mean, I don't mind paying."

"Yes, my child. But before you go, can I read you?"

"Um... sure?"

"Come, sit down, my child." She gestured me to sit down on the empty seat. I did as I was told. She took off her hood revealing her whole face. Her white hair was tied up into a bun messily. But the peculiar thing was her silver eyes. They were eyes of a dead fish. They were lifeless. She reached across the table for her crystal ball but her eyes were still staring into space as if she wasn't using them.

"Can you not see?" I asked curiously.

"No. I was born with my gift, but the price I have to pay is my sight."

"How do you read the crystal ball if you are blind?"

"I have my way, child. Now, where is my shew stone?" She put both her hands onto the crystal ball once she found it. She started whispering some sort of spell or something, "Eyes of the day and eyes of the night, give me back my own true sight. Let me see creator's light. Give me back my one true sight, see in sparkling clarity. This is my will, so shall it be!"

It looks as if the crystal ball was glowing slightly of a pale purple light and so were her soulless eyes. I blinked thinking that it was my mind playing tricks on me.

Her face turned expressionless, "Ah, I see. You are indeed one of the destined ones. The day of you fulfillment shall soon be upon you. Great responsibility will be bestowed onto you. That path leading up to it have many branches that may lead you astray, but your guardian shall show you the correct path. Death and scoundrel will convoy you along the way. My advice to you is to believe in what your heart tells you, and you shall ultimately make the right choice."

"W-what does that mean?"

"It means what it says, my child."

"What do you mean by my 'fulfillment'? And what is my 'guardian'?" I asked, having no idea what she was on about.

"Let's not be too haste about it. Now, my child, let me look into the depth of your soul. Give me your hands."

"I don't think trying to read my soul is a good idea."

"Don't worry, my child. I shan't pry into your dark secrets. Have confidence in me and give me your hands."

I sighed and did as I was told. She grabbed hold of my hands with considerable force. Her expression changed to a quizzical one. She trailed up from my hands looking for something. She followed my arms until she reached my face. I drew back slightly from her rough touch on my face.

Suddenly, she snapped her hand back and said in a dark tone, "What are you?"

"I'm a human."

"No you are not! You are a soulless being! You are not human!" She shouted loud enough to scare the living hell out of people.

I was wounded by what she said, "Well, is not exactly my fault that I don't have a soul, is it? I should have never let you read me." I stood up form my chair.

"Get out! Get out of my place!" She threw my bag of stuff into my face. I just about caught it.

"Alright! Thanks, then. Goodbye." I walked out of the shop without looking back.

Outside Sebastian helped me up into the carriage.

"I heard shouting. What happened in there?" Ciel asked when he saw me.

I was too busy thinking about what just happened to notice him talking to me.

"Hello? Are you listening?"

I snapped out of it, "Oh, yes, yes I am. What?"

Ciel sighed, "I said, what happened in there? I heard shouting."

"Nothing. It was just a crazy women talking nonsense."

Ciel did not look entirely convinced but he let it go anyway.

However, what that old lady said still lingered in my mind. She clearly do have some sort of supernatural power if she is able to detect that I don't have a soul. But what did her whole little speech mean? My day of fulfillment? Who is my guardian? And what did she mean by 'death and scoundrel will convoy you along the way'? I shrugged.

-------------------------------------------

Me: Okay, so who actually are you, mysterious old lady from the shop?

Old lady: My name is Cassandra.

Me: Cassandra? And what was you shop's name again?

Cassandra: The Oracle.

Me: That sounds really familiar! Cassandra? The Oracle? Wait...... *shocking truth face* I don't believe it.

Cassandra: It is the truth.

Me: Well if you are really an oracle, can you predict what I am going to say?

Cassandra: Yes, you are about to ask me to find the lesson of the chapter.

Me: *Speechless*

Cassandra: Here is your lesson of the chapter: "In Greek mythology, Cassandra was the daughter of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Troy. A common version of the story is that Apollo, god of sun and prophecy, gave her the power of prophecy in order to seduce her. But when she refused him sex, he gave her the cursed of never being believed. Cassandra was seen as liar and a madwoman by her family and by the Trojan people. In some version of the story she was driven insane where she was incarcerated."

Me: Alright, thanks! I still don't believe you can predict the future though. You probably just have read my previous chapters or something. Okay, I'll say the quote, "I'd rather trust and regret, than doubt and regret."-- Kirito, Sword Art Online. Thank you reader-tan very much for reading this chapter! Have a nice day! :)
