Madam Red
A pain in my arm woke me up. I sat up and saw that I was back in a room that I didn't recognize. I tried moving my right arm but it hurt so much that I let out a small yelp.
"Ah, so you are finally awake. How are you feeling?" Sebastian was standing beside my bed with a bunch of bloody bandage and a bloody towel. Now I realized that I had a fresh bandage on my arm.
" I am just feeling a bit light headed. And my arm hurts like hell. What happened? Where am I? Is Madam Red alright?"
"You passed out from blood lost from your cut last night after you tried to save Madam Red. We are at the Phantomhive Manor, I carried you back here, stitched and dressed your cut. And about Madam Red, I am very sorry to say that she died despite your effort. She is now at the Undertaker's. Though I have to say that you are very kind-hearted to attempt to save her even though she gave you a very bad cut."
"Thanks. But how bad exactly is my cut?" I asked.
"It is about an inch deep and it will need a while to heal. There will be a scar considering how deep it is."
"Oh well, as least is not on my face or something. By the way, how long have I been asleep?"
"You have been asleep for about three days. Milady, your body is still week from the blood lost. You need to rest. I will be back in an hour with you meal. Now if you would excuse me." He walked out of the room.
Mey-Rin came in after a bit, " Good day, mistress. I am the maid of the Phantomhive, yes! Mr. Sebastian instructed me to assist you. How may I help?"
"It would be great if I can take a bath right now."
"I will go prepare one right away, yes!" She went into the bathroom of the room and I heard the bathtub being filled. After a bit she came out and helped me undress. Mey-Rin helped me got into the bath. The bath was very bubbly with a nice aroma. It was covered in rose petals and the warm water was just at the right temperature. When the wound on my arm first hit water, it stung. However after a while the pain died down and the water was soothing my pains.
Mey-Rin washed my hair and scrubbed my back. The bath was so relaxing I almost fell asleep. I got out of the bath and Mey-Rin helped me change into my blue dress.
"You look pretty in that dress, yes!"
"Thanks." I smiled weakly.
I got out of the bathroom and Mey-Rim left to attend to something. I properly looked around my room in the Phantomhive Manor for the first time. A king size bed was positioned in the middle of the room with two wooden bedside cabinets on either sides. A massive wardrobe was by the wall to the left of the bed. My room had two big windows with velvet curtains that reached the floor facing the beautiful rose garden. The walls were of a light blue colour which complemented well with the dark blue carpet. There were also a couple drawers and some decorations. At the corner of my room, there stood a small table and two chairs. I went and sat down on the one facing the garden and admired its beauty.
Someone knocked on the door and came in. It was Sebastian with a tray of food. He set it down on the table in front of me. The meal consisted of hot soup, fresh bread, a slice of pie, ham and salad with ranch dressing. It looked delicious.
"Thank you, Sebastian."
"No problem, milady. However, about what you said at that night....."
"What did I say?" I asked while cutting the pie.
"How you said shinigami is your favorite race. Is it really true?"
I turned to look at him, "You are not jealous, are you?"
"No, milady. Demons are not capable of such emotion. I just wanted to know whether it is true or not."
"Maybe." I said playfully. "I mean, I think demons are cool as well. But I know more shinigamis than demon. And all of the shinigamis I know are awesome. So yea, they are my favorite supernatural race at the moment. Did I offend you, Sebastian?"
"No, milady. I respect your personal opinion."
"But you can always work hard to change that opinion. Surely you wouldn't want me to like that 'gay red blob' more that you?"
He smiled, "Of course not. Milady, I shall leave you to eat in peace." He bowed and left my room.
I ate the rest of my meal looking out the window. Mey-Rin came later on to collect the tray. I got bored and had nothing to do so I decided to explore the Phantomhive Manor. It was huge! I walked around for a long time but I still haven't seen a lot of the manor. I walked into a room that looked to be a kitchen. All the servants were there.
"Oh! Who is this?" Finny asked when he saw me.
"She is the guest that I was telling you about, yes she is!" Mey-Rin exclaimed.
"Nice to meet you! I am the chef of the house, Bardroy! Please call me Bard!"
"I am the gardener Finnian! You can call me Finny!"
"Nice to meet you all." I said to them.
"I see that you have met all the servants." Sebastian said as he came into the kitchen.
"Mr. Sebastian!?" All the servants exclaimed together.
"You three! Stop slacking of and get to what you are meant to be doing!" Sebastian shouted. All the servants hurried away.
"Sebastian, where is the library?"
"It is just the room opposite of this one." I thanked him and told him that I will be in there for the afternoon. I then went to the library. The library was very big with tons of books. I started looking for a book to read. I wanted to know more about demons and shinigamis and even angels. I looked through the non-fiction section and found little about supernatural beings. I then thought why not have a look at the fictional ones? I looked through the fictional section of the bookshelves. I found some interesting so called 'fictions' and some folklores.
One of the folklore was called 'An Encounter with a Demon'. It stated in the book that food of demon is blood. I was like 'what the hell that's vampire not Demon, does vampire even exist in this world?'. It says that demons can bend in with human, that's correct. Demons have to sleep, wrong. Demons age slowly, wrong they are immortal. It was so wrong and it felt more like I was reading creepypasta. The rest of the books I found on demons and shinigamis are quite inaccurate as well. So people didn't know much about demons and shinigamis.
Sebastian came and got me for dinner. Ciel was there sitting at the head of the table.
"I am very sorry for the lost of your beloved aunt, Ciel."
"It's alright. We are telling the public that she died in an accident. It will be her funeral arranged by Undertaker tomorrow. Please do come with us."
"I will. Although I've only known her for a very short time, I could tell that she was a very kind woman. Only to be traumatized by her own past."
The next morning we went to Madam Red' funeral. I was in a black dress we went out to get yesterday. We got of the carriage and saw Undertaker. Ciel and Sebastian went to fetch something. I whispered to Undertaker, "did it work?" He nodded with his creepy grin. I was so relieved to hear that. I went into the church and saw that Lau was there too. I went and sit down next to him.
"Hello." I greeted.
"Oh good to see you!" Lau said with his eyes closed.
"What do you think of Madam Red's death?" I asked.
"She was a friend of mine so I am sad that she has left us so suddenly."
"What if I tell you that she isn't dead?"
"What, did you......!?" Lau said as if he realized something.
"Come with me after the funeral."
After Ciel came in with a red dress and lots of red rose petals were blown into the church, the ceremony finally ended. Everyone went out to see the burial. They saw a coffin being lowered to into the ground and the hole filled back with soil. What they didn't know was that Undertaker secretly switched the coffin containing Madam Red with an empty coffin when they were walking to the burial site from the church.
When it ended, everyone left. Ciel and Sebastian went to tend to the grave of Mary Jane Kelly, the last victim of Jack the Ripper. Me and Lau took this chance to slip away and meet Undertaker up at the back of the church.
"So what is happening?" Lau asked.
I facepalmed, "but you just spoke like you knew what was going on! Anyway, Undertaker, where is she?"
"Hehe come with me." He led us down a flight of stairs into an underground cellar. There was a single coffin there. He opened it revealing Madam Red lying peacefully in there.
"What is going on? Isn't she buried?" Lau asked.
"Me and Undertaker actually came up with a plan to save her."
~FLASHBACK~
I was at the funeral parlor speaking with Undertaker on how to save Madam Red.
"I want to save her. But the problem is if she is saved from Grell, Sebastian is going to kill her because Ciel ordered him to get rid of Jack the Ripper. Even if Ciel doesn't kill Madam Red, she will most likely spend the rest of her life in prison and everyone will know that she is Jack the Ripper! Is there anyway I can save her without Ciel or Sebastian knowing?"
"Hehe I think I've got the perfect solution to that!"
"Really?"
"Yes. I have recent acquired a poison that is in the form of black liquid. And guess what it does?"
"It kills you?"
"Yes it does. But it takes about a week in average to kill a grown woman. However during the week she would be in a deep coma. It slows down all her bodily function extremely to a state of near death. And that's the key. We can use this to our advantage. It will make Ciel and Sebastian think that she is dead."
"Can it trick a demon?"
"Hehe yes, demons wouldn't be able to detect that she is still alive. And another thing, if you stop the cinematic record, she wouldn't die from her soul being detached. But she will most likely to die from the mortal wound that is inflicted in her. She will die anyway. But if the poison slows her body functions, it will also slow her dying rate from that wound."
"So that poison actually keeps her alive for a weak in this case and trick everyone into thinking that she is dead. You're a genius, Undertaker! Wait....but what happens after a weak? She is going to die!"
"There is a supernatural being that has healing power. The healing power is able to cure most thing like the poison and the wound."
"What being?"
"Hehe, angels."
Now where do I find an angel to heal Madam Red? Oh wait......... "Undertaker, you say it would keep her alive for a week? So I jut have to find an angel before she dies to heal her of both things?" The timing couldn't be more perfect. Ciel is going to Henry Barrymore's house next to make Houndsworth a resort for the Queen. And guess what!? The maid, Angela Blanc, is a mofo angel!
"Yes."
"Okay, I'll sort out that part. what about afterward though? Where would she go? She can't stay here. she would be arrested!"
"Hehe if she wants to go somewhere that the Phatomhive have no influence, it would have to be out of Europe."
"So I have to somehow sneak her out of Europe."
"Yes that's what I think too. Hehe, what about that Chinese man who came the other day?"
"Lau? He can probably help! He has got the the trade routes and everything."
"Hehe, will you be able to contact him?"
"Yes, I can."
"Then it is settled." Undertaker got a gray box and gave it to me.
"Thanks again for the help, Undertaker. I will come to you with that man when the plan is done."
-END OF FLASHBACK-
Me and Undertaker explained the plan to Lau.
Lau thought about it for a while and said, "Mmm, I think I can do that. I have a trade route that goes from Dover to a port in Shanghai. Ciel does't check that trade route because it is my trade route for.... some very good thing."
"Opium?" I said.
He opened his eyes slightly, "So you know? I see why Ciel wants you as his informant. Yes, Ciel has an eye closed to my opium trade route. I can sneak a person out of the country without him noticing."
"What will happen to Madam Red after she got there?" I asked.
"I do have a couple spaces at my trading company over there and the wage is quite good. It will be enough for her to make a living out of it."
"Thank you so much, Lau. Thank you for willing to help."
"No problem! Madam Red is my friend too." Lau said.
"When can have Madam shipped?" Undertaker asked.
"The soonest ship will leave Dover in three days." Lau answered.
After that me and Lau quickly went back to where Ciel's carriage was. Ciel was already in there and Sebastian was driving the carriage.
"Where have you two been?" Ciel asked when he saw us.
"Oh sorry for the wait we were just chatting to Undertaker." I said. I got into the carriage but Lau didn't.
"Aren't you getting in?" Ciel asked.
"No I have my own carriage prepared. I just came to say goodbye." Lau said as he waved.
"it was a nice chat, see you later!" I said to him and waved. The carriage started moving. Ciel was looking at a letter with a cool crest on the wax seal.
"Letter from the queen? What does she want you to do this time?" I asked.
"She is troubled by the activity of dog-baiting that is going on in the village of Houndsworth. She wants me to secure it under the pretext of making it a health resort. And the reason why I, of the Phantomhive, must go, is that apparently there are many villagers that are missing or violently killed."
"Do you want me to come with you?"
"Well, since you have nowhere else to go, and you act as our informant, yes."
"Cool."
----------------------------------------------------------------
Mey-Rin: Ahhhhhhhhhh!!! *falls and breaks an expensive tea set"
Finny: A mice! *throws statue and destroys a wall"
Bard: Let me cook this! *uses flamethrower and sets kitchen on fire."
Me: Everybody, stop!
*All three stop and look at me*
Me: You guys are destroying the place! Poor Sebby-chan! He has to put up with this everyday!
Finny: *crys* We are so sorry! We are only trying to help Sebastian-san!
Mey-Rin: Yes we are, yes!
Me: Aw Finny, don't cry! But I think that if yous sit still and do nothing all day, it will actually help Sebby-chan more.
Bard: Give us a chance to help please!
Me: *thinks* Ok... why don't you find the lesson of the chapter, that will help.
Bard: Lemme see....."Plot twists, like how Madam Red was thought to be dead, but than later revealed that she wasn't, are cool".
Me: Really!? do you really think that! Aw thank you so much! *hugs Bard*
Bard: *blushes* N...no problem....
Me: And Mey-Rin, please do the inspiring quote.
Mey-Rin: "People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That's how they define 'reality'. But what does it mean to be 'correct' or 'true'? Merely vague concept... Their 'reality' may all be a mirage. Can we consider them to simply be living in their own world, shaped by their believes?"-- Itachi Uchiha, Naruto.
Me: Thanks guys! You three might actually be helping for once!
Finny: Ah, another mice! *throws a snooker table breaking more walls".
Me: *sigh* Maybe not. Reader-tan this is the end for today! So if you liked this chapter please vote. And a question for you, my lovely reader-tan. Who is your favorite shinigami? For me, I really can't choose between Grell and Undertaker! The struggle is real! So yea just a little question, have a good day and see you next time!
