my new addiction

So, I recently read The True Confessions Of Charlotte Doyle, and have become fascinated with old sailing ships. I found some diagrams online and have decided to share them, plus what I read about/found out other ways. Here Y'all go!:

I found this on DuckDuckGo And it's actually pretty good. The Mainmast, as you can see, is in the middle of the ship. It holds up the Mainsail. In the front of the ship, you will see another mast. This is the Foremast, meaning Front Mast. Below it is the Forecastle, where the crew sleeps. Below the Crews Quarters is the hold, where cargo and unruly sailors are stored. Captains Quarters at the back of the ship. They are usually nicer inside.

Some ships use wheels, as seen above. The wheel turns the rudder, which is located at the Keel, or lower back of the ship as seen in previous diagram. This is what steers the ship.

Another ship diagram peeps. Different type of ship, as you can see. Also to note: Starboard=right Port=left. This diagram shows the front as "forward". However, this is not true. It is called the bow. Aft is the back of any ship, bow is the front.
