Part 1

What a day, it was really kind of horrible.  Five different people ran into me, and that was just at lunch.  I'm Frank, not that anyone cares.  To the world, I am invisible.  My only solace is my only friend, Gerard.

We've been friends my whole life and lately, I can't stop thinking about him.  I keep noticing how beautiful he is too.  I'm worried that I make Gerard uncomfortable because lately he seems nervous around me.  Whenever I see him at school, he is always so flustered.  Hell, I get flustered too.  High school is hell for me, but I've always had Gerard.  Now I'm worried I'm not going to anymore.

Gerard's been dating this girl, Violet, for almost four weeks, but I don't think she's right for him.  She doesn't deserve his god-like beauty, it's like he stepped out of a Greek myth and fell for a wood troll.  I'll admit it, I don't think any of the girls at our high school are good enough for Gerard.  I haven't said this out loud, but I think I'm in love with Gerard.

We're hanging out at my place after school today.  Finally, some time without Violet, that is if Gerard shows.  I hope he will, I'm worried he won't.  Nonetheless, I'm sitting on the couch, mindlessly waiting when I hear a knock at the door.  My heart skips a beat as a get up and go to the door.  Sure enough, it was Gerard.  He smiles and I beckon him in.  "You look rather happy," I say, joining him as he sits on the couch.

"Oh, I'm just glad to be here with you," Gerard blushed as he said this and looked away.

Not knowing how to respond, I ask the first thing that comes to mind, "How are you and Violet?"

"Oh things are fine," Gerard looked back at me, "I'm just not sure I want to continue seeing her."

"Why?" I ask, kind of surprised by Gerard's answer.

Gerard paused.  "I just have interests elsewhere," he said this while looking directly at me, into my eyes.  I almost melted in his amazing hazel gaze.

I couldn't help but ask, "Who?"

"How was your day?" Gerard immediately changed the subject.

I smiled and said, "Pretty horrible."

"What happened?" Gerard seemed genuinely concerned.

"Five people walked right into me at lunch, and one teacher didn't see my hand even though I had
it raised for five minutes," I try to chuckle, to laugh it off, "I certainly love being invisible."

"I'm sorry, I will always notice you," Gerard's voice sounded so tender.

"Thank you for that," I smile, "I don't know what I'd do without you."

I feel Gerard's fingers lightly touch my cheek.  Then move to the back of my neck, bringing my face forward.  I look at Gerard as he leans down and presses his lips to mine.  I'm surprised, I was not expecting this.  I press my lips back into his.  For one perfect moment, we stay like that in a gentle kiss.

Gerard pulls back and says, "You don't know how long I've wanted to do that."

"I'm glad you did," I grin so big.

"I was so worried you'd push me away," Gerard confided.

"Never," I'm going to say it, these words need to be spoken, "I love you Gee."

Gerard smiles and strokes the hair from my eyes, "I love you too Frankie."
