"Excuse me, but what is your name?" Queen Amanda's eyes were set on Amber.

"Amber," she proudly spoke. "I have lived in the forest for years, but it feels good to finally explore the village."

Cody looked happily at Amber. Her joy makes me so happy.

"Well Amber," the queen cooed, "I've been thinking, and you are truly a gorgeous girl. Everyone would love to be as perfect as you. So..."

Now there was an evil grin on her face.

"I'm taking you to my experimenting labs in a place far, far away from here."

Amber's smile disappeared. Cody wrapped his arm around her.

"What?" Amber choked. "No, no, no!" She ran out of Cody's arms and through the village. "Wait, Amber!"

And Cody started running too.

Amber charged all the way through the forest, wanting to make it back to her cabin.

It was dark and musty, a cold night. Amber crawled on all fours, gasping for breath, hoping she could make it to her cabin. She dragged her stunning green gown behind her, tearing it up.

"Please," she breathed. "Just let me make it. It's all I want."

The wind howled, giving her the sense that she would not make it, and her last breath was soon to come.

Amber began weeping, her perfect waves catching the wind.

"Why me," she said. "Why."

Cody came, rushing as fast as he could. The lab helicopters were gaining up on them.

"Amber!" he called. Cody saw her, laying on the ground in defeat.

"I can't make it, Cody. So I just gave up."

"No way," Cody demanded. He picked her up in his arms and began running toward her cabin, wanting her to make it.

And they did.

But not fast enough.

"Amber, before you go, I just want to say that I love you."

"Oh, Cody," Amber sobbed. "I love you too."

They both leaned in, their lips an inch away.

And then the helicopter swooped in, taking Amber with it. She kicked and clawed and screamed, but she knew it wouldn't do anything.

They were way off in the distance when Cody decided to leave. He stood there, thinking of a thousand happy endings that could've become theirs.

Too bad Cody and Amber got the worst ending of all.
