Chapter 2: Simplicity

Crossing his left leg over his right, Katsuki sat on a large velvet throne, biting his thumb as one of the servants bowed down on the walkway in front of him. It seemed at the moment, he was acting as if he were in charge, although he was currently nothing more than a visitor. Yes, this was the Fire Kingdom. Yes, this was King Endeavor's throne. But did he care?

No, no he did not.

"Prince Katsuki. How may I be of assistance to you?" The servant seemed to have been shaking, one of his knees on the floor, and his head bowed in respect. Although King Endeavor was the king he had sworn to serve, he didn't dare disobey Katsuki, especially with the explosive personality the prince had.

"I'm hungry as fuck. Tell the royal cook to whip up the best dish he can, for one. No, fuck it, for two while you're at it." He waved his arm as if to dismiss the poor boy, but didn't see his pale skin move a muscle. "The fuck are you sitting around for!? Get moving!"

The servant stood up, "My apologies, Prince Katsuki. I'll notify the royal cook right away." With that, he shuffled off into the hallway and off to the kitchen.

Prince Shouto was walking through the corridor, wandering off towards the throne room to retrieve something he had dropped earlier. That was until his servant ran into him in a rush, falling onto the cold marble floor.

The prince raised an eyebrow, tilting his head as the servant was in a rush to get up and run off without uttering a word. He turned his head back, but the dual colored male began to walk in the same direction the boy had come from, or more specifically, towards the throne room. Lucky enough for him, that was the place he had been heading to in the first place.

Once he reached the velvet carpets in front of the thrones, Shouto narrowed his eyes in confusion, watching as the male who sat on the throne ran his hands through his champagne colored hair. He was constantly shifting his positions to the point that his back was leaning against the arm rest, one leg folded underneath the other, which had been bent upwards. His left arm rested against the throne, holding up his face as if to act superior.

Shouto stayed silent, staring for a few minutes, until the ash blonde finally spotted him nearby. They both stared at each other: one out of confusion, the other out of surprise.

Katsuki didn't know if he had come searching for him or not, but that was not the problem: the problem was that now those two dreaded heterochromatic eyes were on him, catching him in the middle of whatever act he was committing at the moment. He was caught in a nervous sweat, but didn't know how to break the silence that lingered in the room.

The dual colored male broke the silence first, scratching at the top of his head. "Uh... Katsuki, what are you doing...?"

It was clear that he was flushed with embarrassment, but his first instinct was to turn his expression into that of a look of anger. "HEY, FUCK OFF, WHAT I'M DOING ISN'T ANY OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS, sHoUtO!" Katsuki said Shouto's name in a mocking tone, causing the half and half male to sigh.

Then, a loud yell was heard all the way from the conference room that was located all the way on the other end of the palace, "KATSUKI SHUT THE FUCK UP, I CAN HEAR YOU FROM ALL THE WAY OVER HERE!"

Upon hearing his mother, Katsuki grumbled, gritting his teeth as he turned away from Shouto's gaze. "The old hag doesn't shut the fuck up. God, just leave me alone."

Shouto blinked, shaking his head as he went over to sit on the throne next to Endeavor's, or rather, Queen Rei's ivory throne. "You could have just said you were having some fun. I mean, it's not like I'm going to judge you or anything."

Katsuki hissed at him, showing out his teeth as if to seem menacing, "Fuck you, you judge me all the damn time. And what are you doing? Don't sit next to me, asshole, you should be bowing in front of me."

"We're both princes, I don't see why I have to." He turned his head so that he was facing the ash blonde, though he saw that his crimson eyes were avoiding his own. "And I don't even really have anything else to do anyway. So why can't I hang out with you, we are friends after all."

That seemed to piss off Katsuki more, because he stood up defensively and began to point at Shouto. "Shut the fuck up! We're not friends, you should know damn well!" It was more or less a whisper-yell. After all, he didn't want Queen Mitsuki to come after him again.

"Sure, whatever you say."

Katsuki's eyebrow twitched, not knowing how to respond to that, "What the fu—"

"I'm sorry to interrupt your conversation, Prince Katsuki, Prince Shouto." Yet another servant, this time with his hands full, came running into the throne room. His breaths were heavy as if he had just come running from the other end of the castle, in which case he did not, because he had only come from the front gates, which didn't have much distance between these two points.

The ash blonde craned his neck to slowly look over at the servant. "What the fuck do you want?"

"I am aware that the royal court is in a meeting, so if you please, there's a visitor at the front gate... and well... they seem to be a bit in a rush to talk to someone. I know we would usually send them to King Endeavor, but he's occupied. If it's okay, I'm going to bring them in, I hope that doesn't cause too much trouble between the two of you."

Katsuki looked over at Shouto for approval, so the dual colored male only nodded. "Okay. Please bring them in, I'll be willing to listen." With that the servant ran off down the main hall, and back over to the palace gates.

Katsuki plopped back down onto the throne, moving his legs so that they were in the same position as earlier, him gnawing at his thumb and all. Man, did it feel good to sit here, in charge, sitting next to Shouto like they both owned the kingdom, and not their parents who they always perceived as stupid. Just the thought made him smirk with delight, until his small little fantasy was ruined by a servant running in with a small boy.

Now, this boy didn't look like anything special. In fact, he was more plain than anyone Katsuki had ever laid his eyes on. If he had to describe him in one word, the word would have had to have been 'runt'.

Shouto, on the other hand, had a completely different reaction to seeing the boy. His heterochromatic eyes traced across his smaller figure, one that wasn't really to be bragged about, since, after all, he looked quite scrawny from this standpoint. However, that wasn't really what had caught his attention. More or less it was that disheveled, yet unique green hair, or maybe even those deep viridian eyes, and not to mention those freckles that dotted his perfectly round cheeks.

It was very subtle, yet it was noticeable that the prince's voice broke when he looked over at the small boy in awe, "Please state your business."

The boy had knelt on one knee from the moment he arrived, but with the soft voice that Shouto was speaking with didn't make him feel bad about being in the presence of royalty at the moment. He perked his head up, looking in the direction of the ivory throne that the prince was sitting in. His gaze widened, realizing who he was kneeling before. A stutter escaped his lips, as his pupils shook with surprise, "P-Prince Sh-Shouto..."

No, it didn't come as a surprise as to how handsome the prince was. Everyone around the kingdom, and he means everyone talked about how absolutely gorgeous Shouto was. From his red and white hair, to his turquoise and grey eyes, and even despite that scar on the left side of his face. But seeing him in person, face to face, now that was something he couldn't comprehend. His features were just so stunning, making him almost forget the reason he came here in the first place.

Katsuki did not like this at all. First, he saw how they both were struck in awe with the other, which really just made him hate the small boy. Second, he was completely ignoring his presence. The audacity of this kid! He wasn't going to stand for any of it, so he leaned forward on the throne, his legs open and feet planted on the ground.

"Hey, runt. The fuck are you staring at?" His eyes were narrowed, pretending to not be able to see the boy, since he was significantly smaller than him, probably only about five foot five.

The greenette jumped a bit, Katsuki's voice sending a chill down his spine. He slowly took his eyes off of Shouto, shakily moving his head so that it was facing the ash blonde. "P-Prince K-Katsuki..."

As opposed to Shouto, Katsuki's reputation was a little more on the nasty side. Sure, he was very damn attractive, any person could tell that at first glance, but that wasn't what scared people away. He was known for snapping quite easily, and he always seemed to feel superior to any and all he came across. And seeing him in person made him even more intimidating than he was perceived to be. How could Shouto act so calm around him?

He hadn't quite known, but nonetheless, the boy gulped, staring at Katsuki this time. His menacing crimson eyes were enough to scare the poor boy, causing him to shake with every second that passed. His mouth began to open and close, looking like he was having trouble trying to process all of this all at once.

Katsuki cocked an eyebrow, forcing his hands against his knees. "Are you even fucking listening to me? Stop staring and get it over with! Don't fucking make me kick you out!"

The green haired boy shook his head, snapping himself out of his trace. "S-sorry! Uhm I was just um... I didn't mean to make you angry, Prince Katsuki, I was only just—"

"Save it, I don't want to hear your fucking rambling. What the hell do you even want!?"

"W-well I w-was... well where was... there..."

The boy was having trouble speaking, still shaken from Katsuki yelling at him ruthlessly. Shouto then decided to butt in, taking the lead in the conversation as to make sure he was calm. "Hey, it's okay. Stand up, take in some deep breaths. When you're done, I'd like you to state your name."

He blinked, but promptly followed the prince's advice. He stood from his place, then there was a deep inhale through his nose, then a soft exhale from his mouth. He looked over at the prince, picking at his fingers, a nervous habit of his. "M-my name is Izuku Midoriya."

He repeated the name quietly, "Izuku Midoriya..." He hadn't heard a name quite like it before, so it caused a small smile to form at the edge of his mouth.

Katsuki looked at Shouto. Now this was just unbelievable. Not once had he ever seen him smile that way before. Sure, he'd seen him smile sometimes, but in this situation it only pissed him off.

The ash blonde turned back to Izuku, a scowl appearing on his face, "Look, RUNT. Your ass better explain yourself RIGHT NOW. You came into this FUCKING CASTLE and I want to fucking know WHY you're here! No more ignoring me, ya hear that!?"

Izuku fidgeted in place. It was hard to ignore the hostility of Katsuki, and he really wished that it was only Shouto he was talking to at the moment. However, at some point he would have to stop stuttering and get his point across to the princes.

He looked down at the floor, trying to avoid the ash blonde's gaze. "I don't mean to be a disturbance, your majesties, but I have a request. A few days ago, my mother went out to collect some goods from the market, which, in any usual situation, would be fine. I was cleaning the house and watering the flowers out back, when all of a sudden... well not really all of a sudden.. But well you see..."

Katsuki groaned, slouching down further into his throne. At this rate, the boy wouldn't ever leave them alone, especially if he couldn't even finish what he was saying. He rolled his head around his neck, causing it to crack with his movements. He really wanted to bark at him again, yet he felt that would get them nowhere.

Shouto ran a hand through his own hair. He was getting slightly bored himself, though he didn't want to say it because he didn't want to make Izuku feel bad. He only sighed, "Midoriya, if you please... we're sort of busy today, and we can't help you if you don't tell us what's the matter."

The greenette clenched his fist at his side. He seemed to be shaking more, this time not because of Katsuki, but because of what he was thinking about. "It's been a few days... my mom hasn't returned... and I want someone to help me find her..."

The dual colored male was stricken. A few days without his own mother. Now that, of all things, must have been quite painful. He knew how that must have felt, especially since he knew that pain himself for far too long. Shouto blinked, but was quick to answer back, "We will—"

"We will not under any circumstances help you." A deeper, much louder voice echoed over the prince's, causing the company in the throne room to turn their heads. Just at the end of the hallway, there stood King Endeavor, his arms folded across his chest, and chin raised just as usual.

Shouto's pupils shook with absolute despair, watching as his father just completely rejected Izuku, as if his feelings were worth nothing. "Father, you—"

"Shouto, stand back. Let me handle this." His head jerked over to look over at Izuku, running his eyes over the features of the scrawny boy. "You. Leave."

The greenette's eyes widened. He looked absolutely terrified. Even if Katsuki had a horrible reputation, King Endeavor's was even worse. No one could ever say anything to him, it was like deep down, nothing ran through his veins other than cold blood.

Even if he was up against someone so terrifying, he still had to defend his requests, his eyes starting to tear up with the expected answer. "K-King E-Endeavor.. Please! I beg you! My mother, she means so much to me, don't you understand?? Please please... I just... I just can't... will you... just help me???"

Endeavor stared at him, hardly batting an eye at his pleas. He rose his hand up, waving it around in the air like a signal, just before a couple of servants stepped to his side. "Get rid of this nuisance immediately."

They both bowed their heads slightly, before dashing over to Izuku. They each took one of his arms, in a small, yet firm, grip. This caused the greenette to immediately panic, trying his best to fight back. "WAIT PLEASE! CAN YOU PLEASE LISTEN, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!! MY MOTHER, SHE'S MISSING, PLEASE! IF Y—"

His words were drowned out by the grunts of the servants, who carried Izuku out of the castle, and tossed him outside the gates without another word. Katsuki was dead silent, he couldn't even comprehend what had just happened. He watched as Shouto stood from the throne, walking over to his father with his finger pointed out at him. He knew exactly where this was going.

"Do you realize what you just did!? That boy just asked for our assistance! And you have the audacity to kick him out!?" He was raising his voice at his father, which was quite rare, especially since Shouto of all people normally kept quiet and reserved.

"We have our hands full as it is, Shouto. We need to focus on the rest of the kingdom's problems." Endeavor didn't seem to give a single care in the world, he just started to turn around, trying to leave Shouto with Katsuki.

"Focus on the rest of the kingdom's problems? So you can ignore them too!? It's your job as a king to protect your citizens! And all you do is abuse your power, so what's the point!? So you can have your way and continue to have a kingdom run with fear? What kind of life is that for others to lead???"

The king stopped, starting to look back at his son. "That's how I run things. I choose how I want this kingdom to function, Shouto."

"And to use them for your expense? How blind are you? Can you just at least try and help someone else for once, and not be so damn selfish??"

At that point, Endeavor had just about had it. He raised his arm up, starting to swing it toward Shouto with such speed and force. Shouto had seen this coming from a mile away, but didn't dare stop it. He accepted his fate, and was just about ready for the damage he deserved...

Then, out of nowhere, the muscular arm of Katsuki butted in, stopping the king's actions. "Asshole, you're fucking delusional." It wasn't quite clear who he was talking to, but nonetheless, he threw Endeavor's arm away from him, taking Shouto's wrist defensively. "We're going."

The dual colored male just looked at him, then at his wrist, and then at Endeavor. He didn't say anything, he just nodded and complied, letting Katsuki drag him away from the situation.

Katsuki didn't even give a thought to look at the other prince's father, walking away with Shouto next to him. Neither of them spoke, disappearing up the stairs, and off to Shouto's quarters, where they sat for the remainder of the day.
