"Like hell you'll ever catch me! You damn fucker!" The squad leader from Reiners team hopped down the roof of the tower, swords raised and ready to strike at the titan below him.

The titan swapped at the man, missing him by only a little and giving the squad leader the chance to strike at the titans fingers, drawing huge amounts of blood. The female squad leader took advantage of the act and sneaked down behind the giant, drawing her wires forward to latch on to his back. She flew forward and slashed at its neck, cutting out the weak portion of its skin. It fell hard on top of the smaller titans. a

"Oh look! He went and squished the small ones as well, ha! what a stupid bastard!" The male squad leader hollered with glee. He hung by the wires against the building next to the blonde woman. "Your skills are suberb as always Nanaba, that cut you made was really deep!"

She turned to him. "Thanks Gerger, but it was a close call for you just now...you could have just avoided him without wasting your blades you know?"

He grinned wolfishly. "Well thats my way of doing things, I wont cut those bastards any slack, and you better count that as a proper assist!"

She smiled back. "Tough guy huh...i'll remember that."

They looked down to see a small titan making its way into the entrance of the tower, only to be stopped by their comrade as she slid down to slash the back of its neck. However, not without noticing the broken door to the entrance of the tower.

She gaped at it in horror before sliding up to meet with her superiors to tell them the bad news. "We were too late, they already made their way inside."

"The door is broken?" Muttered Christa.

"yes...titans got inside the tower! You go deeper inside and set up a barricade to defend against them hurry up!" The woman shouted.

Christa gulped. "Our 3D gear will be useless indoors..." The rest of the team nodded in worry.

The woman sighed. "If your defenses get breached and worst comes to worst run to this roof." She turned from them and bit her lip. "We cant guarantee we'll be able to save you in time, though...we don't know if we'll be alive even then." She turned towards the darkness that expanded across from them, watching the ascending titans roam. " Too many of them are still left, I'm not sure if our gas and blade supplies can last long enough." She turned back to them. "But that wont change the one thing you all gotta do! Keep fighting as long as you are still breathing!"

With that, they spoke a curt, "roger!" and scattered downwards into the deep depths of the tower.

The sound of footsteps tore through the building as each and every one of them ran down the steps as fast as they could. Reiner grabbed a torch to lead the way.

"I'll go check how deep titans have already penetrated into the tower!" Connie shouted over the sound of their feet against cold cement.

"No! you guys go get planks, sticks, anything that might be usefull and bring them into the tower, i'll go check." Reiner shouted as he took a turn.

Christa and Connie protested. "Wait! Reiner!" They watched as his disappearing form left their eyesight. Connie scoffed. "That guy never changes, always wanting to do more than capable, you can't hold a candle to him."

Christa nodded in agreement. "Its his habit." They continued down, silently hoping Reiner wouldn't be too reckless.

Renier opened yet another door in the dark corridors of the ancient tower. sweat ran down his brow in anticipation. A titan could be anywhere, he had to be careful. Trying to calm his beating heart, he descended yet another pair of stairs he came across, each looking older than the other. When he reached the bottom, he stared at the old wooden door that blocked his path.

'even if its locked, it's too time-worn to hold against a hard push' He thought. He kicked it hard, making the wood splinter and crack. The door flew open, and the blonde gasped at the sight before him. It was a titan. A titan was crouched on the stairs, huge eyes stared back at him as he slowly took a step back.

The titan charged, mouth wide, ready to take a chunk right out of him. Yet Reiners reflexes were faster. He whirled around and slammed the door shut, cursing under his breath. It was broken, but there was latch that was hanging from the front. It would hold for a little bit. He cried out when the door pounded forward violently.

"There's a titan down here! Bring me something to barricade the door with!" He shouted. The others had'nt passed him yet. They were still descending the stairs.

A hand shot out of the door, groping aimlessly for its meal. Reiner grit his teeth against the pressure of the pounding. "Dammit! At this rate, it's going to smash right through, and I..." He paused. 'Will I die right here?' He thought. A memory flashed through his mind. A memory he always had hidden deep within the dark abyss of his mind.

A hand, coming down, trying to smash him against the ground. Bertholdt right beside him, paralyzed with fear, and a boy, pushing him out of the way as the titan grabbed him instead. The boys eyes staring back at him, horrified and helpless.

"No...Not here!" Reiner shouted, coming back to his senses. "I will not die like this!" He ducked and stepped back from the door as the titan broke the rest of the beaten wood, staring at him with wide eyes. 'I'm gonna return without fail...to my home town'

"Reiner!" connies voice made his head snap back. The small boy was running towards the titan, pitchfork in hand as he stabbed at the titans eyes with the sharp ends, struggling to impale it properly. Reiner stood up and grabbed the end of the pitchfork with Connie, adding pressure to the action.

"Are you okay?" Connie breathed out shakily.

"Connie...We're going to survive this...and return to our own homes without fail." Reiner said seriously, eyes deeply engaged with Connies. The boy gave a shaky smile.

"Y-Yeah." He muttered with false certainty. The titan before them was making a hissing noise. It was healing, they were going to need more than a pitchfork to kill it.

Just before Reiner was about to speak, Ymir beat him to it. "Reiner! Connie! Up here!"

Both boys looked to to find Christa and Ymir crouched on top of the stairs behind a huge black cannon. Reiner tensed. "Hey...isn't that a cannon?"

Christa nodded. It was risky, but it was all they could find. "What about gunpowder and cannon balls!" Connie shouted ovet to them, his voice echoed through out the empty space.

Ymir responded. "We don't got none of that! that's why we'll have to make do with this!"

Reiner didn't understand how they were supposed to use it without firepower, but he and Connie obeyed when Ymir shouted at them to get out of the way.

"Here goes!" Both girls grunted as they pushed the heavy cannon down the stairs. Now Reiner knew, They intended to use the weight as the weapon. They heard a loud crash as the thing slammed against the struggling titan. It fell along with the whole door, and lay motionless beneath the Cannon. All four of them stared at it.

"Looks like it worked somehow...by way of miracle." Reiner muttered in relief.

Christa nodded. "Yeah, that titan probably wont get up know."

They stood in silence for a minute, contemplating what to do next. Connie was the one to break it."Now what? All I found was this knife." He held out a small blade for all to see. "Should I just cut off the nape of it's neck with it?"

Reiner shook his head. "No, although it wont be getting back up, it's pretty injured."

Christa started up the steps. " F-for now, lets all head to the upper floor, if one titan found it's way in, others will follow-" She was cut off by the sight before her. A titan appeared out of the hollow window beside Connie, eyes fixed on the boy with hunger as it darted towards him. "Connie!" Christa screamed in horror.

Connie didn't have time to react as Reiner shoved him aside roughly and slammed his hand against the titans cheek, preventing the thing from taking a bite out of the smaller male. It turned sharply and bit down on Reiners arm instead. Everyone gasped. Ymir pushed Christa back protectively, seeing as she had every intention to rush forward. Reiner shouted in pain, wincing as the sound of crunching bone burst within his ears. Blood trickled down his arm, at this rate, the titan would rip it off.

With every ounce of strength he could find Reiner listed the titan up into his back and made his way towards the window from which it came from.

"What a minute Reiner, don't tell me you plan on jumping off along with the titan..." Connie stammered with wide eyes.

"What other choice do I have?!" He yelled as he lifted one leg over the window sill.

"No wait!" Connie rushed to him, holding the knife out. "Let me cut the jaw line." With a flick of his wrist, he slashed across the titans cheek and jaw, making it release its hold on Reiners arm. They backed off quickly, watching as the titan sat up, swaying slightly to the left and right. Thats when Ymir herself rushed in and did a professional upper kick to the titans jaw. It fell for what seemed like an eternity, and they watched as the titan became nothing more than a limp form six stories down.

...

We were almost there. The forests were starting to look very familiar. I held on tightly to the horse's reigns, sensing Levi relax behind me. His grip on my waist loosened as we rounded a corner leading us into an opening. Since the rain had died down, there was no sound except for the horses hooves splashing against puddles and sinking on mud. The wind howled lightly, reminding me of the forests of Konoha. Soon after, the small cluster of ruined houses appeared. I spotted Sasha's horse immediately.

"Right there!" I shouted, bringing the horse into a halt. Levi got off first, and proceeded to help me off afterwards. My feet landed on the squishy mud with a splash. I winced. I was going to have to wash my boots. Levi followed me as I led myself inside the house where I was decieved. As I had thought, Sasha was awake, sitting on the couch in a thinking position. And very confused. Whatever the freak gave her didn't last long.

"Where were you? I thought you guys abandoned me." She murmured with a whine. She slumped a little, dizzyness clearly shown.

If it wasn't for the dire situation I would have burst out laughing. The worry was so evident in her voice, she literally though we just ditched her. I smiled wide. "I wouldn't do that Sasha, things...got a little complicated." I bit my lip and tugged on Levi's coat. It was a tad too big for me, but it warmed the coldness that my wet clothes gave.

The Brunette blinked. "Where's Bertholdt?" She asked as Levi helped her up. I looked down quickly. It was best i didn't tell her yet, it was alot to take in. So I lied.

"I'm not sure, he went off in search for Reiner, but you fell asleep, so I decided to wait for you, Levi was around looking for me." I saw that he eyed me from the corner of his eye but said nothing.

"Oh...okay, wait what time is it?!" She shrieked. I shrugged.

"It's late, very late, the others are still missing." I stated.

"And it's all Mike's fault, and this brat, if you two wouldn't have separated none of this would have happened." Levi sighed in annoyance.

Mt eyebrow twitched. "If I didn't separate then Mike would be dead."

He blinked at me in surprise but I shook my head. "I'll explain later, i'm so tired I'm too lazy to even talk." I grumbled out.

"Right...We should really find the others, i'm a bit concerned, we need to head out now." Levi spoke out.

Sasha protested. "But it's dark! and I lost my torch..." She whined.

I groaned. She didn't lose it, Bertholdt took it. Jeez what were we going to do now. "That's not necessary, there must be some other light source, you two wait here." Levi left towards the other rooms while Sasha and I stayed behind. I sat down heavily against the sofa, not caring if i looked manly in the position I was in.

"I'm so tired, I just want to curl up into a little ball and sleep." I breathed with little enthusiasm.

Sasha nodded. "I know, I just was to eat something."

I gave a small laugh. " you're always thinking about food, honestly Sasha."

She tensed up, eyes wide as she cowered and looked around. Her voice lowered to a whisper. "So do the captains, they're always up at night scavenging food from the fridge."

I blinked, and guffawed at her comment. She leaped on me, clasping her hand on my mouth, making me wince at the pressure her body put on mine. She looked around wildly. "Don't tell Levi, I uh... I was there myself."

I bit down hard on my bottom lip to keep from laughing and grabbed her wrist to yank her hand away. "Well that's interesting news, who knew Levi was a food theft?" I smirked and scoffed at her puzzled expression. We both got up quickly when Levi appeared with a kerosene lantern in hand.

"This will do." He stated with a monotone face.

We both followed him outside, the cold air swayed, blowing against our faces. My nose never felt so cold in my entire life, it was pissing me off. I crossed my arms over my borrowed coat and made my way to the horse that Levi and I shared. This time he got on first and helped me up. I didn't need it, but I didn't complain. Sasha got on hers as well.

"Stay close behind and whatever you do, stay close to the light, It's dangerous to even be out here with all the titans roaming." Levi called out.

"Yes captain!" She shouted. I held on to Levi's waist and let my head fall on his back, shutting my eyes in relaxation. It wouldn't hurt to rest just a little bit until we got to the others.

...

They had barricaded the doors. It was the only thing they could think of to keep the titans away. Connie frowned at the handiwork. What are we gonna do when they break through? There's no way we will get lucky like this again."

Nobody said anything. They were busy watching Christa treat the wound on Reiners arm. She poured alcohol on the bite mark, eyebrows pulled up in worry. "Ouch..." Reiner hissed, clenching his hand.

"Sorry! Sorry..." Christa muttered. She was trying to make it as painless as possible. "The bone is fractured I think."

Reiner nodded. "Yeah looks like it, wish Sakura was here."

"She can fix it when we find a way out of here, but right now, we need to fix it as much as we can to prevent infection." She took a long stick in hand. "Okay we have a brace, now we need some bandage."

Every one stood quite, staring at each other for ideas. "I know!" the petite stood up and tore a long strap of her skirt. Reiner caught a small sight of her legs, trying not to think about anything indecent at a time like this. She crouched back down and wrapped the cloth around the wound. "Um...I'm afraid this dirty cloth is all there is." She looked up at him with wide blue eyes. "I'm sorry..."

Reiner stared at her, hiding a forming blush. "Dont be, thank you." 'Just marry me already' He thought.

Connie noticed it. "You okay there Reiner?"

The taller male nodded. "Yeah."

Ymir pouted, staring at the two with envy. "Hey Christa." She stated. "I cut my finger too."

Connie grunted and shot a look of disbelief in her direction. "What that? It's barely a scratch, just spit on it and you'll be peachy."

Ymir stared at him with slitted eyes. If looks could kill, Connie would have dropped dead in an instant.

"Anyway..." Connie turned his attention to the injured male. "Reiner, I'm sorry for earlier." He gulped. "Seems like all I do is get saved by you huh, Come to think of it, you risked your life to save me from Annie too right? One of these days I gotta return the favor."

Reiner sighed and shook his head. "It's nothing, forget it, I'm a soldier, I only do what I'm supposed to do."

Connie smiled. " Well I wonder about that, you never hesitate to put your life on the line, I doubt my resolve can compare."

Ymir walked over to the window and peeked outside. "Anyway, lets scrape together anything that can be of use, so that we have no regrets when its our time to die, well actually a half of our chances to survive is riding on our commanding officers strength-oooh."

she stared out at the scene before her. Various titans lay limp across the floor. The captains themselves were seen hoovering above the live ones, killing them each one by one. " That's the scouting legion for you alright, they're on a whole different level from the soldiers in the other divisions." Ymir contemplated silently. She continued to watch, wondering when this will all end, and if they will make it out alive at all.
