the one behind the glass
I could've easily murdered you,
But glass doesn't die, it just breaks.
And I could've easily killed you,
With of my hair of dark, green snakes.
That one unbearable, pale face stares
At me and I wish it could turn me to stone.
The lips that crack, the dry skin that tears
And that soulless look won't leave me alone.
I can see the tears behind their eyes
And the obsession with hiding them.
And I could've sworn I saw the lies
On the downturned lips from which they stem.
Turn away so I don't have to look
But the reflections are everywhere.
In vain was all the effort it took
To evade that killing need to care.
I pity the one behind the glass
Because they have to look back at me.
To take away the poisonous gas
Is a purpose that could set them free.
But I am not brave enough for that
Yes, it is selfish I already know.
I'd shred you to shards, but plans fall flat
Shards reflect, I couldn't let you go.
I could've easily murdered you,
But glass doesn't die, it just breaks.
And I could've easily killed you,
But that would mean I would never wake.
