Chapter four

-third person-

I didn't take long for Opal to notice the setting sun. He turned back towards Ruby. "We...should rest soon."

Ruby stayed silent.

"Don't give me that. If I didn't know better I'd think a Wanderer nabbed your tongue!"

No laugh.

Opal gave up. Lighting crackled overhead as rain started to fall. "Great. That's just great." Opal grumbled. He spread out one wing over Ruby to keep her dry and looked for somewhere they could sleep.

-Ruby's perspective-

Well, we're dry now. I'm honestly too tired to care. I never new grass could feel so comfy, but apparently wandering for ages in a storm saps all your energy.

I barely get to close my eyes before I find myself atop a mountain. I have to hold back a gasp. Swirling above my head are clouds in deep pinks and purples. A beautiful sunset is locked in place in front of me. Torches light the way down a golden wood path. Who wouldn't follow it?

I didn't expect what I found at the end standing there in full prowess was a Wizard. A Wizard. Why did a Wizard want to speak to me? I opened my mouth to speak but he signalled for me to be quiet.

"Hush, let me speak. I have something important to tell you.;

I stopped

Up on a mountain tall,
Higher than a dragon's call
May reach.
Lies a rock with holes for two stones,
Very old, covered in runes.
Find one stone in water of mountain,
Meet the wizard to point the way and then,
And then, one day eight,
Please don't try to meddle with fate,
One will be lost in the forest were you'll find,
The second stone needed for your ultimate prize.
Don't wait, don't stop,
Until you've reached the mountaintop,
Place the stones, wait some time,
For an ancient power to rise.

I shivered, but memorised every word.

Wizard's hadn't always been trustworthy, but this was my only chance. Besides, wizards had never faked a prophecy before. This must be my destiny.

Right?
