Chapter five

-Third person-

Ruby opened her eyes. A shiver of excitement and fear came over her as she shook Opal awake. Opal yawned and opened his eyes. He took one look at Ruby and said, "You've got one of your crazy ideas again haven't you?"
Ruby shook her head, "This isn't crazy.".

As Ruby told Opal all about her dream, his gaze switched from sarcastic to worried. "You know wizards can't be trusted." he said once she finished.
"But they've never faked a prophecy before, have they?" Ruby argued.
"But I wouldn't put it past them!" Opal begged, "Doesn't this seem strange to you? It's way to clear...".
Ruby rolled her eyes, "Witches have been gone for 10 years now..."
"Stop speaking so...so calmly about my dream dissapearing!" Opal growled.

Ruby flinched. She knew Opal had always wanted to be a ridden dragon, flying around with a great witch on his back, but he was only four when they left, and the lookers society had been closed down. She didn't understand why Opal was still so desperate to be a ridden, and he certainly wasn't normally this aggressive about it.

Opal seemed to realise he had gone too far. He sat back, and picked something off of his claw. Almost immediately it grew to a large patchwork sack with a bit of leather for a handle. His enchanted bag, a beloved gift from his father. Silently, obviously not completely letting Ruby of the spike, he grabbed a roll of bread and passed it over. Ruby ate silently, unsure how upset Opal was with her. They both sat there a while, both refusing to speak. Not the best start to their journey.
