By the time the whole group had woken up, it was midday. The final one to wake was Josie, which came as no surprise after the events of yesterday. Even then, she only woke because she could smell lunch being cooked on the portable stove by Sarah. It made her belly rumble with emptiness, as she realised she had skipped breakfast for sleep. It was still raining, but not quite as horrendously as Kaity and Sarah witnessed it to be earlier.
"What's cooking?"
"Finally up, Jo? Took you long enough"
"Just answer my question, I'm starving"
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the sleeping mat. Alright, I'll tell you what I'm cooking. Super noodles. You want some?"
"Yeah please... God, why is it so cold?"
She turned around to look at everyone else in the tent; Kaity and Anna were both snuggled in their mummy sleeping bags, whilst Josie had a pathetic sleepover style sleeping bag which was no way appropriate for a camp out in the woods. It explained the reason she'd been shivering all night, at least.
After dinner, Josie felt much more refreshed and energised. She spent the day playing a series of games with the group, as Sarah brought "emergency board games and cards, just in case the weather sucked". Most of the time was spent playing monopoly, because Sarah wouldn't accept the fact that she lost every game and insisted a rematch that went on for 5 games.
By the time night fell again, the rain had stopped. The girls had become bored of the board games, and had seen enough of the one card trick Sarah knew. It was time to turn to truth or dare.
"Kaity, truth or dare?"
"Truth, obviously"
"Out of all of us, who do you think is the best friend and why?"
"Josie, what a pathetic question to ask. I've got a better one for you Kaity, have you ever kissed a boy?"
This question from Sarah initiated several looks to be exchanged and wiggly eyebrows to be shot at Kaity.
"Not really... Well there was this one boy a couple of years back"
"Oooooooh, you feisty minx! I didn't know you'd kissed someone! Anna, truth or dare?"
"Oh what the hell, dare"
"Dare it is! I dare you to go outside and run around screaming 'I'm in love with Derek Sawer'"
Derek was Anna's ex boyfriend, who ended their 2 year relationship by text a month ago. At first, Anna thought that Sarah had crossed the line with that dare, but the more she contemplated it, the more she just wanted to get it over and done with. She stood up, much to the group's surprise, and went outside the tent.
"I'm in love with Derek Sawer! I'm in love with Derek Sawer! I'm in love with-"
The singsong was cut short by a piercing scream.
