Chapter Nineteen
"What are YOU doing here?"
The girls were startled at the sight of Kaity. She looked completely different; wearing ripped black jeans and a leather jacket. Her hair was messy and her nails dirty. The whole image was a far cry from what the girls usually saw Kaity as.
"This right here? My whole set up. My crew. Did you really believe for one minute they were real officers?"
She chuckled to herself.
"Well guys, you're in the wrong business. Maybe you should try acting. Anyway, I'm here to finish what Anna started."
"Put the goddamn crowbar down, Kaity. You wouldn't dare," Sarah piped up.
"Oh really? Who wouldn't dare?"
She hit the crowbar against the wall so hard that it dented from the impact, causing the paint around it to peel off.
Both girls took a step back. When Kaity saw this, she smirked.
"I always knew you were scared, Sarah. Josie, you've always been a wuss. To make this game more interesting, I've brought you both out here to an abandoned building. Now, we painted it up pretty and everything for your arrival, so don't go messing it up."
Ironic when you just hit the crowbar against it.
She continued her speech.
"I'm gonna give you to the count of 30 to run as far as you can in whichever direction you want. It makes it more fun for me before I kill you both, that's all."
"What happened to you, Kaity?"
Instead of the response Josie was hoping for, she was met with a countdown that would decide their fate.
"1, 2, 3..."
Josie and Sarah started to run aimlessly through the repetitive corridors, unsure of where exactly they were going. After running for about 20 seconds, they came across a door that looked like a janitors room. Opening it, their suspicions were confirmed, as a mop bucket, disinfectant and wash wipes were amongst the equipment. They climbed in and shut the door quietly but quickly.
In the door there were slits in the top, which provided slithers of light to the confined space they had. Sarah turned around to see what she was working with. It looked like they'd got the best room in the building, as the equipment available to them was sure to be of use towards saving their lives. After an eternal wait, Kaity came in front of the janitors room, and Josie's breathing became heavy with fear.
"... 29, 30."
Just as Kaity swung open the door, Sarah got hold of the mop and shoved it down Kaity's throat to prop it open, before pouring disinfectant down it. Josie winced as she heard the sizzling of Kaity's insides being burned out by the cleaning product, while Sarah stood proudly with a defiant smile stretched across her face. Kaity stumbled around for a bit, trying to hold onto the walls to keep her up, but soon fell straight to the floor when she couldn't stand any longer.
"Damn...... You... Both."
With her final declaration, Kaity's breathing stopped. The girls whooped and cheered, before realising that there were still other people part of this plan in the building. Just in time did they realise it, as the "officers" started to walk towards the duo, all sorts of weapons in hand, from both ends of the corridor. The girls went back to back so that each one could face a different crowd; there was no foreseeable escape for them, meaning they'd have to put up a good fight to survive...
