Chapter Five

Kaity had an early start to the morning. The rain had woke her up, as it continuously slung itself against the tent. It was still dark in the tent, and all she could see were the reflective strips on Anna's sleeping bag, which was a little startling for Kaity when she first opened her eyes and saw them illuminated in the pitch black.
She must've laid there, listening to the rolls of thunder for a solid 20 minutes until Sarah piped up.
"Hey weather, can you keep it down? I'm trying to catch some sleep over here."
"Shhhh, you'll wake the others!"
"Jesus Kaity, how long have you been awake? It's only 10 past 5. Go to sleep."
"I can't sleep when it's thundering. I'm scared of thunder and lightning."
"Well it ain't gonna touch our tent, I can assure you of that kiddo."
"I know, it's just a fear I've had since little."
"Well we have come camping out to a gloomy forest. You can't expect all sunshine and rainbows out here. On that note I'm going back to sleep. Night"
Kaity barely had time to respond before she heard the rustling of Sarah turning onto her side in her sleeping bag. She gave it 5 minutes before she summoned up the courage to speak again.
"Sarah?"
Sarah gave an impatient groan as she turned back round to face Kaity.
"What?" She whispered, with a hint of annoyance to her tone.
"Will you stay up with me? Till the others wake up? Pleeeeaaaassseee?"
"Is this because of the thunder and lightning?"
Kaity remained silent in embarrassment.
"I'll take your silence as a yes. Fine, I'll stay up with you, but you owe me one."
