II

I look around the room to see many of my troops and some of the villagers in the shelter, everyone surprised to see me. My face turns red, I have never been seen defeated, or even almost defeated before. I turn to face the elf, curiosity taking over.

"That was Winter, the holder of the Sword of Snow, and the last snow elf," he says. "My name is Nigel, by the way."

"Calhoun," I say, hiding my shock. The door opens, and Nigel grabs his shield from his back, trying to protect us. Winter walks in, followed by a young man about Winter's age.

"No worries, it's just us," she says.

"Any news?" Nigel asks her.

"They've retreated, but we think that they may come back later, since they have not found the Woodland bow yet," Winter says.

"You didn't have to step in," I say, annoyed now.

"Well, I wanted to because it looked to me like you were about to die," She says, followed by a large gasp in the crowd behind me. I blush once again, coming up with an excuse to clear my name.

"I was doing fine until you came. You..." I say, trying to come up with something good, "your ship distracted me."

"We had to come, Queen's orders," Winter replies smartly, but not rudely, "In fact, we need to find it ourselves and we need you to come," she says.

"Alright," I say, knowing exactly why: I'm the best warrior around, not to mention I know where it is.

"Everyone else needs to stay here with Nigel, for your safety," she says, and Winter, the other guy and I head out, and I lead the way.

"We never got your name," the other guy says.

"Calhoun, meaning warrior, and narrow woods," I say "my parents knew exactly what I was going to be," I add, bragging, "and what is your name?" I ask the guy.

"Isaac," he says, giving Winter a look of concern, as if asking 'are you sure?' Winter nods, yet she looks concerned as well. We arrive at the tree with a carving saying ᚆᚓ ᚑᚑᚇᚂᚐᚅᚇ ᚑᚍ. Meaning The Woodland Bow in ancient hieroglyphics. I push in one of the pieces of bark, and a piece of the bark slides to the side, revealing the Woodland Bow. I take it out, revealing the words behind it.

Rillifane Rallathil , god of Nature and of the Wood elves, I have successfully acquired the Woodland Bow and understand the consequences of lying about this aloud. I ask you to knight me, and I vow to fight alongside the Elven Guardians, providing protection to the Elven Race.

"Read it aloud," Winter says, and I nod.

"Rillifane Rallathil , god of Nature and of the Wood elves, I have successfully acquired the Woodland Bow and understand the consequences of lying about this aloud. I ask you to knight me, and I vow to fight alongside the Elven Guardians, providing protection to the Elven Race," I say, stopping time. A green skinned elf appears in front of me, I expect him to look proud, but instead, Rillfane looks disappointed, and confusion sweeps over me.
