Chapter 28
Jora paced as the sun began to rise, some of the men were already up and preparing themselves for travel. They would return to their ships and head back home, Jon's life would be flipped upside down once again and he would follow him every step of the way.
Sandor and Jora now had a similar position, they were to protect Jon, that was their job now. Jora would be released of his duties if he desired, but Sandor would have this responsibility till death.
Jon woke, still wrapped in Theon's arms, Robb had gotten up and was packing for the three of them. Jon wiggled out of his 'brothers' grasp. He realized he was more like Theon than the others, not really his parents blood but family nonetheless. It was something they had more in common now.
Jon walked to his horse, placing his hand upon its muzzle. He was deep in thought, his brows furrowed and his eyes lowered to the ground. He kicked a few rocks in contemplation.
Jon was uncertain if Joffrey would be great for him, he felt it was a horrible mistake, becoming the Queen had never been his plan. He never even wanted the power that being Khaleesi had given him.
Robb made his way towards him carefully, Jon jumped as he felt his brother's hand on his shoulder. Robb stepped back, his eyes softening. "Oh Jon."
"Sorry." He said softly. "I'm okay."
"You're jumpy."
"I-I'm sorry." Jon managed out.
Robb took a deep breath before stepping back once more. "You have no reason to apologize, little brother."
Jon looked up at Robb, tears brimming in his eyes. "Robb... I-."
The omega began to sob, the dragons began to whine and growl from their cages and Jora was instantly on high alert, Sandor followed suit. They made their way towards where Jon was sitting only to find him wrapped in Robb's arms. "I've got you, it's okay."
Jora tried to calm the dragons with some cut up lamb, while Sandor stood, his eyes trained on the Stark boys. "I don't mean to be.. Be like this." Jon managed out. "You're only trying to be kind..."
"You went through a lot, I am sure more than you're at liberty to discuss or desire to.. I am here. We all came for you, you're safe."
Jon let out a soft sigh, but suddenly his head popped up. Robb looked down at him in surprise as he pulled away and turned to Jora. "The-."
"I'll speak to your father about it." Jora promised before heading off to find Eddard. Robb looked his brother over and realized there was more going on then Jon was willing to share at the time, but he could tell he was worried and wasn't sure what to say or do about it. Sandor offered to sit with him while Robb helped get cleaned up.
Jon ran his hands along his dragon's muzzles. "Darling things." He whispered. "I won't let anything happen to you."
Sandor narrowed his eyes, watching the omega closely. "I'm Sandor Clegane by the way." He finally said after a few minutes of silence. "I'm your new guard, I was Joffery's but I will now be over your protection."
Jon turned to look at him, their eyes locked and Jon gave him a soft smile. "Jon Snow Stark, I am thankful for your willingness to protect me."
"It's not just my job, I hope you know that." Sandor replied. "I want to watch over you and protect you. It isn't just what I am meant to do."
Jon's eyes softened as he examined the guard. Everyone always seemed to want to protect him but he often wondered how many people cared about him only because he was a rare omega. "Do you want to touch them?" Jon asked as he continued to feed his dragons.
"Not much of a fan of fire." Sandor mumbled, Jon noticed a burn across half his face and realized that was likely why.
"They don't really breathe any, not yet anyway." Jon said softly trying to ease his fears.. "Only to make their meals less raw. If you're going to be my guard they should probably be used to you." Jon said with a smile.
Sandor took a deep breath, but that was likely true. He didn't want to be eaten by these creatures if he was being honest. He felt death by a dragon was probably one of the worst ways to go, specifically if they could breathe fire.
