Every Rose Has Her Day
An eighteen year old girl leaned on the balcony outside her room, watching the soldiers spar.
The girl had beautiful black hair and bright brown eyes. She wore a blue and golden dress and her hair was tied into a braid.
Her name was Primrose. She was a princess- daughter of Queen Tiger Lily.
As much as she loved being around her people, Primrose always had dreams of running away, leaving everything behind. She sighed deeply.
There was a knock at the door and she turned to it. "Come in," she said. A girl with hazel brown hair and brown eyes came in.
"Hi Amber," Primrose said with a soft smile. "Hey, Princess," Amber said as she walked over to her.
"You doing okay?" She asked, walking up beside Primrose. "As okay as I can be," Primrose sighed, turning her attention back to the soldiers, "we're at war with kingdoms and for what? What good will it do?"
"That's something you can talk to your mother about, your higness," Amber said, rubbing her shoulder.
Primrose sighed deeply and nodded, "I suppose. Where is my mom anyway?" "In the throne room," Amber said, "she's been speaking with the captain ever since the border dispute."
"Border dispute," Primrose repeated quietly, "it's getting harder and harder with the Tiger Kingdom's scouts. Why do they have to make this war all the more difficult?"
Amber didn't know what to say as she couldn't answer at the moment. The door opened, startling the two and they turned to see a woman with long flowing hair and brown eyes come in.
She wore a red dress traced with golden seams. "Hello, Mother," Primrose said with a small smile as Amber bowed.
"Hello, dear," Queen Tiger Lily said, "Amber, I would like to have a word with my daughter."
"Of course, my queen," Amber said quickly before she hurried out of the room, closing the door behind her.
Primrose looked up at Tiger Lily. "I'm sure you've been having thoughts lately, sweetie?" Thistle said gently, "you've been up in your room for a while. Your sisters are concerned."
'Of course they are,' Primrose thought bitterly as a seed of doubt was planted in her gut. The ones who seemed to care were Twilight, Dawn and Willow.
Primrose shifted her gaze away, "I have, Mother. And... I have concerns for the War. Why did it start?"
Tiger Lily's eyes saddened and she gently led her daughter to the bed and the two sat down. "A Dragon killed your father when you were a month old," she said.
Primrose widened her eyes slightly. "I placed the blame on both the Dragons and the Phoenixes," Tiger Lily said, clenching her fists tightly, "that's why we are at War. We all have enemies, Primrose. And I don't want you to end up like me. I don't want to lose you."
Tiger Lily hugged Primrose close, "believe me when I say that you remind me much like your father. Curious and kind."
Primrose smiled a little and she nodded. Tiger Lily stood up, "I trust you'll meet me and your sisters for dinner tonight?"
"Yes," Primrose said with a small nod and Tiger Lily kissed her forehead before she left the room.
When she closed the door, Tiger Lily frowned. "Did you tell her the full truth?" Captain Timber asked calmly.
"You know my answer, Timber," Tiger Lily said calmly as she walked past him. Timber looked back at the door and sighed.
Wearing a white and blue cloak, Primrose walked to the balcony before she climbed down a rose vine and she managed to sneak past the gates. Luckily there weren't any guards near the gate once she was past them.
Primrose shifted into a black wolf and she ran through the forest. Excitement rushed through her as the moon shined down on her.
She felt so free now. She leapt through the air with a cheer. She flew through the air for a few moments before a yelp escaped her when she tumbled into something. Or rather, someone.
Primrose groaned as she looked down to see a nineteen year old Phoenix.
"Y-you're a Phoenix," she said nervously. "And you're a Wolf," the Phoenix said with a small frown.
Primrose got up off of her and shifted back into her human form. "I'm Primrose," she said with a small, nervous smile, "princess of the Wolf Kingdom."
The Phoenix shifted into her human form. Primrose blinked in surprise and her cheeks turned a light shade of red. The girl had light brown hair and beautiful blue eyes. She smiled at Primrose.
"I'm Day. Princess of the Phoenix Kingdom."
