I was stunned by the sudden words of the alpha. I couldn't leave, who the heck does he think he is. He may be the alpha of the pack, he may control what they did, but O didn't belong to the pack and hence I wasn't going to listen to him.
The whole day of spent planning an escape in my room. It was laye night and I was assure everyone was asleep. I tiptoed down the staircase and made a beeline for the back door and slipped out. Just as I was about to cross the tall steel gates, a wolf in his primitive form pulled me down, I recongnised the eyes, it was Ernest. I protested, kicked and squirmed trying to free myself from his grip but with each kick , he held me tighter and growled at me, he was angry and I was just pissing of the strong mythical creature more. He climbed up the tall staircase and just when I thought he was going to dump me in my so called room he took a turn towards and opposite corridor. He opened the only room at the end of the corridor with his foot and threw me onto the large bed. I immediately scambled to a seated position as he locked the door. He approached me in his human form, anger in his eyes. I scooted backwards till I mu back was pressed against the head of the bed, for the first time in forever I was scared, terrified of the situation. He galred at me as he sat opposite to me
" WHAT WERE YOU TRYING TO DO" He asked. Anger dripping in his tone. Gone was the man who was so polite to me the previous day.
I didn't answer and jaut shuddered at the tone he was using
"TELL ME , WERE YOU TRYING TO ESCAPE" He asked gripping my arm, with such strengjt and restraint, as if he was not trying to hurt me.
I nodded and he let go of me. Running a palm over his face.
"Why" He asked a lot calmer " Is my staff not taking care of you properly. Is it Alex, did he try to hurt you again" He asked
" Because I don't want to be kept here as a prisoner, I want to be free" I said
He looked at me with confusion
" But you are free, you can walk, talk and go anywhere in the estate without being hurt " He said.
" But that is not freedom" I said " I want to go home "
He huffed
" Home? You mean to your step mom who daily hits you when you don't wake early, or to your dad who thinks of you as a liability or to your abusive ex or to a village who wants to get rid of you" He said
I remained silent
" I am offering you a much better life, a life where these maids would take care of you, a life where you will be safer and protected and most of all loved " He said
" But why, why are you offering me all this. How do you know about my life " I asked
" Because your my wolf bride, my mate " He said
" What?! " I screamed
" Yep, you're the one and only, the alpha's mate" He said
I looked at him dumbfounded. I was hell shocked and scared.
" I don't want to be your mate. J hardly even know you" I said as scooted to the furthest end of the bed
" But you are. You have no option and neither did I. It was already decided by our fate" He said and I opened my mouth to retaliate but my stomach growled
" Your hungry" He said
It's true I actually was hungry. I skipped dinner and half aye my lunch. It was almost morning now.
" Let's go downstairs and I'll fix you something to eat. The servenrs must be resting right now and the rest of the pack must have gone out to secure the area" He said as he stood up. I made no move to follow him
" We can do this the easy way or the hard way, clara. You can't escape and you know it, it would be better for you to give in" He said and I knew he was right. There was no way I could out number a pack of 12, escape a troll and reach back to the town safely, I would either be killed or worse I could be abducted by someone. Some how I was curious to know more about how did I end up being a mate to an alpha wolf. I nodded and followed him downstairs. I sat at the kitchen counter as I watched him re heat the left overs of dinner and plate them for me. For some reason I knew I was going to be safe and happy here, I knew I could trust myself about the safety because even in his amhered state he never tried to hurt me. He protected me against his own kind. He treated me with utmost respect and respected my privacy. I ate in silence and noted how Ernest watched me eat
" Satisfied? Do you want something else" He asked and shook my head as I stood up to keep my plate in the sink. He followed me
" I won't run a way.... But if I am going to stay here, I want to know more about you, more about your pack, more about the forest and most importantly I want to know how the heck did I end up being your mate. Also if I am going to be stick with you for the rest of my life, I guess I would appreciate having a few means of entertainment in this estate" I said facing him and he nodded..
" I'll arrange for some horses, paints and wool for you to look into. For now you rest, I'll introduce you formally to the pack and the staff in the morning" He said and I nodded. I started to make my way to my bedroom when Ernst stopped me
I looked at him with a question in my eyes
" Your room has been changed, it shall be next to mine" He said " I want to make sure you won't pull the stunt you did today again clara . There are more dangerous things in the forest than you know. If by any chance you would have escaped the estate today, there was a high chance that you would have been killed by one of the forest dwellers and I would not have been there to protect you clara" He said as he led me to my new room.
