Our baby was now three years old. He still doesn't walk, and speaks very few words. I had sat up a birthday for him, though sadly, he had a seizure when we brought out the cake and we spent it on the pack hospital. It was sad to see our little boy with all the tubes in his nose and mouth and the IV keeping him alive. This sight truly broke my heart, making me feel guilty for not crying unlike my husband, though I don't blame him. After all, he did give birth to the child who was said to pretty much die. Still, both of us refused to give up on the poor child who symbolizes our love. Could it possibly mean that we weren't meant to be? No. We were mates. Once mates always mates, no matter what.
It was a few weeks later now.
Shay walked over to me with a smile. "Honey you'll never guess what happened!" Shay smiled wide. "What? What is it?" I asked, hoping I hadn't missed our baby's first steps. "Come here," he grabbed my hand and takes me to the backyard where Xavier was playing. "Okay honey sit next to our little boy," he smiled. I sighed and went over to him. His big Cheshire like grin gave me chills. What could he possibly be up to? "Okay honey, show papa," he says as he clapped twice. "I tood," he smiled, showing his cute little fangs. "Really? Let me see!" I smiled as my eye lit up. He reached his arms up and used Shay's arms for support as he slowly stood, his legs warbling. I grabbed his waist, making sure he didn't fall to the floor if he did fall. "Good job honey, you're getting so big," Shay praises which caused our little boy to look at him as if he'd just said we're going out for ice cream. He then fell, though luckily he didn't go anywhere since I was there. I'll always be there to catch my little boy when he falls.
