Things have gotten better in the past few days after the doctor visit, especially Shay. He's been helping me set up the nursery that's coming along nicely, though looking at it now, it seems like a little too much.
Nursery:
I look over to see Shay putting up some letters over the crib. I quickly look away, noticing it was our baby's name. He had just put the 'r' up on the last letter. I then hung a blue wooden letter 'T' on the white door that was the entrance before going to hang up some baby clothes Shay bought online. He joins me after hammering another nail into the wall. "I know it's kinda late, and I'll be having this baby soon but...mind joining me outside when we're done?" He asked. I nodded. "Sure thing," I kissed him softly and he kissed back. He the groans and holds his stomach, causing me to worry. "Need help?" I asked. He shook his head and began his way downstairs, leaning on railing as he did. I follow closely behind him as he led me outside to the field where some of the pack members were playing a frisbee game. Shay and I sit on a picnic blanket that was conveniently there. I lay Shay's head on my lap since he looked like he was about yo pass out. He the whistles in a certain rhythm/pattern as my trusty advisor wolf and couple of the pack council emerge towards us, along with Shay's mother. She was almost like a mother to me as well since I've never really had a mom and my dad died right before I became alpha which was about five years ago. I watched as his mom brought out a small cake that looked sweet; it must've been Shay's custom pick since he loved sweets but he could never find a sweet to match his personality.
I looked to him. "Any reason the paws are blue?" I asked curiously, thinking the gender is actually inside the cake. The classic gender reveal in the cake; but it wasn't. Inside, half was pink, and half was blue. "Which side do you pick?" He asked with a doggish purr. "Hmm," I think for a moment, wondering if I should get the wrong gender on purpose. I look to him, noticing he chose a blue slice. "So is it a boy?" I asked. He shrugged. "I dunno, maybe it is...maybe not," he was trying to avoid answering me. I sighed and picked the same color as him. He smiled and we both ate the cake. We then went on top of the hill while the others did whatever and was sat on the picnic blanket. "Hey, look up!" He called and I did, fireworks of Pink and blue shot across the sky, making a pink and blue foot in the sky before dying out. I smile in amazement as I then see the fireworks forming a wolf kissing a baby's feet. Once it was over, I looked over to Shay, but something was wrong. He was in terrible pain. Even though it was dark, I noticed something. His water broke. I howled to the pack, and they soon called the ambulance while Shay was huffing and puffing, breathing heavily as he gripped tightly to my hand. "K-Kai," he slowly unzipped his oversized jacket and pulled it back to where I could see his shirt.
I have tears flowing from my eyes by now. I followed the stretcher into the ambulance before it drove off. "I'll always be by your side baby, no matter what," I kissed him gently, despite him being in pain.
They rushed him to the hospital room and I held his hand as they changed him to a hospital gown. He groaned a little and panting. It was time. My baby boy will soon be here...
